In the modern world of sponsorships/advertising space/marketing video game covers for car games are exactly that, a place for someone to market their latest model. For GT5 that was the Merc SLS, for Forza 4 it was the 458, for Horizon it was the new Viper, etc etc. Like I said a long time ago the car on the cover will be whoever pays the money to get their car on there, or strikes the deal with PD. That's why the Corvette C7 seems likely because we know a deal is already there but they're obviously not the only company with a tie in to PD.
That's why it's unlikely to be anything but a new model. It's a marketing method and nobody is trying to sell classic cars by putting it on the cover of a video game.
No I get what you are sayin Simon, and I never actually thought a classic would make it. But there are some gorgeous cars worthy of the cover....thats all. They could have donea cover with an old and new too... like with the SLR

Im thinking outside the box now. How about a duel between 2 cars, rivals in fact rather than a single car posing. Mclaren P1 in apple green vs Ferrari F70 in corsa red (debuts soon) racing at Nurburgring. Would love an action shot

I want to see something that shows PD's love for racing, new and old... Having something like an old Le Mans car sitting next to a new edition of it (if that makes sense..)
For example, Ford GT40 '69 and a new (2006) Ford GT.
or
Old Porsche and a new Porsche (<Given they manage to get a Porsche deal)
