What has PD ever done for us?

Well for one they've given us loads of people who like to complain about every move they make, every small detail.

When will people just shut up and play the game they bought.

Enough with the threads though, seriously... We don't need 294742 threads about the same update, the same stupid arguments.

They'll shut up and play it when they feel satisfied with what they've paid for.

I'm cool with people complaining but creating a million threads about the same thing is stupid. And they paid for a game which when you buy it, however they want to update it is at their discretion.

Don't like it, don't play.

I agree about the million threads thing but I suppose it was expected as soon as the contents of the patch was announced and I doubt they're going to stop anytime soon.

You're a bit wrong on that one, people paid for a game that when launched it was missing advertised features (such as remote B-Spec and mechanical damage) and didn't come close to the hype PD and Sony stirred up for it, 3 months later and they're still patching in features that should have been there from day one. PD can only blame themselves for any critisism aimed at them and since they made the mistakes, people will pick apart anything they do from now on.

Why do they have to do anything for us?

Traditionally, you buy a game and you play it, if you don't like it then you shelf it or sell/trade it and move on. Updates were non existant or exclusive to the pc, where they were minor.

Why do people think that PD owes us anything? Don't get me wrong, i am all ears for updates to the game, but i am grateful for them, they aren't obliged to do this and most companies would not.

I can recall many many games being abandoned by the developers shortly after being released so that they can focus on new projects.

Where has this expectation that developers should continue to bring massive updates and additional content to a game come from? We aren't paying a monthly fee.

Guys honestly, I feel that in comparison to say Call of Duty Black Ops, PD have done so much for this game. They have really added a lot of great features and although it's not perfect, I'm very pleased with GT5.

Just play Black Ops; it's terrible. People complain about GT5's load times!!

Finally someone on the same wave length as me.
Totally agree with everything you said.

so wrong.. people who SUCK at black ops say it sucks. Black-ops is fine. sure it has the ocassinal spawn kill but its not as frequent as people make it out to be. I have the once in a blue moon connection problem but it does not effect my gameplay as it is made out to be. Bandwagon opinions /fail.

PD has gave us the opportunity to play their games. If you dont like it !@#$ off. End of story.

I agree on the false advertisements but since they are always patching games nowadays why wait another year to implement everything when you can string people along lol

I think they aren't really listening to our complaints. Can we get saving during enduros already?!?!

As for paying for a product, you have to expect it won't meet your every expectation. I didn't and I cant put this game down yet. They just can't make everyone happy but I think they are starting to address the "major" flaws in this game and for that I'm willing to give them a couple more patches. Only time will tell

If every feature was in from day one the game would come out this summer!

This is only because PD can't manage time. If PD tried to complete the game at a reasonable pace and tried to include everything from day one, it would have come out before last summer most likely.

Patches are the worst thing and the best thing to happen to the gaming world. The worst thing because it makes developers lazy and more careless and ultimately gives them a free pass to rush out a game then fix it later. best thing because genuine mistakes can easily be rectified.

I honestly think they do listen. Maybe saving during endurance races is a bit more difficult to program into the game than we think?

My disappointment stemmed from what PD and Sony were telling us themselves before GT5 was released, when it came out you could tell after 30 minutes of play that the game was unfinished. They're addressing the things that should have been in from the start rather than flaws, the biggest flaw is it's shallow A-Spec mode.

As the poster below you said, it's all to do with managing their time, B-Spec for example, way too much time spent on a boring game mode which should have been way down their priority list. 3D compatibility, a feature that is irrelevant to the majority of GT5 owners, could easily have been patched in a few months later and no-one would have batted an eyelid. Playstation Eye head tracking, really? all that time and effort put into a feature that only works in one game mode, arcade. The list could go on and on.

And they didn't manage their time. It's not the end of the world...

Completely agree.

I love updates, game will never be complete which allows for tons of things to happen and also means I'll probably not get bored of it any time soon.

I guess it depends on how you look at it.
Look at what we've all done for PD. They're huge now.

Sony doesn't just give any old shop a $60m+ budget for their game.

You know, I really think the attitude (of late and in general) here, reminds me of this:

Life never changes much, does it?

You know, I really think the attitude of some in here who continuously praise and worship PD no matter what they do reminds me of this:

We are so lucky, lucky, lucky that PD prevents us from driving the cars we bought without boring ourselves to death!

Terrific developers PD, terrific!

And they didn't manage their time. It's not the end of the world...

No-one said it was. They're saying if PD had managed their time properly and layed out a proper development schedule, the game would've been released earlier and would've been a better game. GT5 is still a good game, but it could've easily been a much better game, unfortunately it was a victim of poor project management and it shows. Some parts of the game are excellently done (Premium cars, physics and graphics) while others are very poorly done. (A-Spec and B-Spec, AI, damage, time and weather only on a select few tracks.) These are legitimate complaints, but many here (in general, not you freight48) seem to brush it all off and ask the mods to rid the forum of all critiscism.

They've made us the Gran Turismo series.

I bought PS1 for GT1. I bought PS2 for GT3. I bought PS3 when I heard GT5 was coming.

PD has given me masses of hours of driving pleasure in cars I may never see, let alone have a chance to drive.

PD has given me the chance to race 4 guys from Spain, 2 Englishmen and a guy from Canada in GT40's around Monaco's historic race track.

PD has given me the chance to buy a TVR Speed 6, race modify it and paint it pink.

PD has given me the ability to take photo's in differing locations and share them with people around the world.

PD has even given me the chance to roll a Mitsubishi iMiev.

Oh and something about Bob's as well!
