What has PD ever done for us?

Completely agree.

I love updates, game will never be complete which allows for tons of things to happen and also means I'll probably not get bored of it any time soon.

Well I'm glad there's people who still want to play the game, for me GT5 is pretty much over and done with apart from occasionally racing online with friends I actually know in real life. Unless one of two things happen, they get rid of the trade cap so I can complete the collection of every car (I refuse to grind anymore) or they come out with a very large expansion pack with a lot more A-Spec events which would mean that I'd no longer have to repeat races over and over.

Our society is very much based on a value for dollar ratio... And if you spend $100 on a GT Collector's Edition then you would expect the product to be up to snuff. I have yet to feel that way about GT5.

PD owes us because we pay there salary.

When you bought the game.. you bought it as is.. PD is not responsible for fixing anything after that. But they have been constantly improving the game, and all updates till now have been free.

I'd understand if it was paid dlc and people were complaining..

As I said earlier in this thread, people bought a game that was missing clearly advertised features such as remote B-Spec and mechanical damage, so yes, they had an obligation to patch such things into the game after release.

Patches are the worst thing and the best thing to happen to the gaming world. The worst thing because it makes developers lazy and more careless and ultimately gives them a free pass to rush out a game then fix it later. best thing because genuine mistakes can easily be rectified.

I honestly think they do listen. Maybe saving during endurance races is a bit more difficult to program into the game than we think?

My disappointment stemmed from what PD and Sony were telling us themselves before GT5 was released, when it came out you could tell after 30 minutes of play that the game was unfinished. They're addressing the things that should have been in from the start rather than flaws, the biggest flaw is it's shallow A-Spec mode.

Can't believe they can get away with it.

Would you pay full price for a brand new car, but without an engine because they aren't finished making it yet? You'll get your engine in 6 months. What do you do until then? You can't use the car, so you sit on your @ss and wish you hadn't bought the damn thing, like many of us are doing now, with GT5. GT5 is the car I can't use because it doesn't have an engine. So PD, when do I get my engine?

When will the prize money and grinding problem be fixed?
When will duping cars be fixed?
When will legitimate trading be fixed?
When will the graphics be what they are really supposed to be?
When will the physics be upgraded to what they should be?
When will the whole game interface be fixed?
When will online play be fixed?
When will Performance Points be fixed?
When will black screens and hangs/freezing/disconnects be fixed?

I can sum all of those questions into one simple question I should NOT be asking:

When will this game be fixed?

I paid $60 plus tax for what I thought was going to be a solid, complete game. Instead, I get stuck asking the one question I shouldn't be asking.

Every single "next-gen" game I've bought has been like this. I am honestly thinking about quitting gaming, and just playing my tried and true games for old times sake.

There are many more people who think like me, and I think we are witnessing the death of "games" as we know them. DLC and "patches" will be the main cause. (In other words, money hungry devs)

You should try playing Fallout 3 or Fallout New Vegas... On second thoughts...

Why do they have to do anything for us?

<snip>
Where has this expectation that developers should continue to bring massive updates and additional content to a game come from? We aren't paying a monthly fee.

First off, we paid good money, in good faith for a game that was most definitely NOT completed when it hit the store shelves. That's why they have to do something to provide a finished product. GT5 is still not finished in my opinion. Even with the updates, it lags behind the competition in many ways.

I think people buying this game had a reasonable expectation of quality based on past practice. PD really missed the mark! Take an honest look at GT4... take an honest look at the recent competition (Forza, etc...). Can you honestly say after looking at those games that GT5 was finished when it hit the shelves in November 2010 or is indeed finished now? The lack of content in GT5 is staggering and needs to be addressed through updates, or PD will lose credibility and have a hard time selling future renditions of the GT series.

Yes they owe us proper updates and additional features. We already paid for them! They sold us a "Beta" and have been slapping it together by adding features, taking features away, etc... (much like Frankenstein's Monster) for the past few months in an effort to complete it. Hopefully they'll stop removing features and start adding some content that extends the quality of play and therefore the lifetime of GT5.

Six years in development and this is the final product? As my signature states, we are being used as guinea pigs in some weird gaming experiment so that PD can figure out how they want to complete this game.

If there's one thing I've learned about gaming this generation, it's that for a highly anticipated console/game, people set their expectations up way too high and when it doesn't fulfill their pipe dream expectation, they will complain loudly for a long time and pick off the tiniest things. Gran Turismo 5 is not an exception to this rule and there will be many other similar whine fest to come with different games and it has happened before. Considering that I'm not expecting this to stop anytime soon, the best thing to do is to keep calm, definitely not act like a fanboy/girl, and limit arguing with opinions you disagree on to where you're sure it's a good argument.
This is only because PD can't manage time. If PD tried to complete the game at a reasonable pace and tried to include everything from day one, it would have come out before last summer most likely.
Am I the only one who disagree here? I don't think the game long wait was due to them being incredibly slow-paced/lazy, but due to them having to battle massive licensing issues for numerous companies to get them in the game, even thought we may not have heard of them. There are so many cars in the game and so many manufactures that the only notable missing companies are Porsche and Saab. With every other current car manufactures in the game that is still active, getting 1,034 cars may have required solving a huge amount of legal issues and spending a ton of money to fix them to get them in the game as well. I would bet heavy money that had the game been released much earlier with the features at launch, the amount of cars in the game would be much, much lower. Of course this is just speculation, but considering the game's long development, there must be more then poor management or laziness that contributed to it.

You know, I really think the attitude of some in here who continuously praise and worship PD no matter what they do reminds me of this:

We are so lucky, lucky, lucky that PD prevents us from driving the cars we bought without boring ourselves to death!

Terrific developers PD, terrific!

Firstly, this is a forum dedicated to GT. Accordingly, don't be surprised that people here generally like the game. By all means find a band forum then criticise everyone for liking that band :dunce:

Secondly, it's been a while since I saw somebody whine because they apparently paid to be able to drive the cars, so it's their right to access them.

Have you any idea how moronic this argument is? It's a computer game, it's not for you to demand to be able to play all unlockable content on your terms. Did you have the same issue with Sega because you couldn't get far enough into Sonic the Hedgehog to fight Dr Robotnik? Do you criticise other games because you don't have the skill or patience to unlock every single feature?

Seriously ask yourself why you post on here? If you don't like GT5, why are you posting on a GT-dedicated forum? And if other people like the game, so fricking what? Why do you have to take issue with that?

Your sig says you want a zero miles E-Type Jag. Jeez you must really dislike the game. And as for the "competition" are we talking PS3 here? Which driving game is superior and more complete exactly? And as for other platforms, is Forza really better? Take a step back, are you sure? I am a fan of Forza too but seriously, some perspective please? And even if it is, GT5 is a pretty awesome game right? This forum and your part in it and your advertising for a particular car doesn't exactly imply a crappy game.

Fact is, there are features in GT5 that we would like, but there are very little true "bugs" and even those aren't anything that severely affects play. So it's not like a beta at all, because a game with features you don't like or lacking ones you would like does not constitute a "beta".

Expectations way too high based on what the developer and publisher is telling everyone.

"Expect perfection" - Yeah Kazunori-San we did and you fell so short of that boast we might as well call you a liar.

You seem pretty disgusted. So I guess you will be moving on from this forum and not adding to your 661 posts. Bye now.

Sonic the hedgehog = very little skill to complete, most games have a difficulty level which is selectable so even the least of skilled players can get through it with relative ease. Why do developers do this? So anyone can get their moneys worth out of the game they bought.

GT5 = A game which tries to compensate for it's shallow single player experience by making certain cars ridiculously hard to obtain in a thinly veiled attempt to make the game last longer.

Doesn't sound so moronic now, does it?

No actually I won't, sorry to disappoint you.

By the way what does my now 663 posts have to do with GT5 being a sub-standard mess that's needed 6 patches in 3 months to fix and it's still a mess? I mean really, do try enlighten me.

What has PD done for me? Hmm, that is a very good question, I'm glad you asked. They have given me too many hours of gaming to count. They have given me my favorite franchise of all time. And they have given me my favorite game of all time. A better question is what have I given them? I guess around $300, not very much when I think about it.

PD has no obligation to fix the game. However, it should be pretty apparent to them that a lot of people are unhappy with the game and feel that it is unfinished. As a result, if they want anyone other than diehard fans to purchase it in the future, then they sure as hell better continue to work on it. It's not called obligation, it's called capitalism. If you don't provide what the consumers want, then the consumers will buy Forza. GT4 was a complete game, GT5 is not. That being said, I really enjoy GT5, but that doesn't mean they don't have to work for my money. Remember, capitalism. They absolutely don't have to fix GT5, but if they don't, I'm sure the Forza 4 will sell a lot more copies than anticipated.

Well for one they've given us loads of people who like to complain about every move they make, every small detail.

When will people just shut up and play the game they bought.

Enough with the threads though, seriously... We don't need 294742 threads about the same update, the same stupid arguments.

Oh yeah just play the game...enough with threads....don't even bother discussing the good points of the game

They owe us a finished product which GT5 isnt when you compare to what it was advertised to be. It's a good game but it's a disappointment compared to what they have given us in the past. I will think twice now before buying the next game and im no longer a teenager starving for money...but i really dont like to buy a product which is not what i thought it would be for 3/4 years.

Im sure i am not alone and im sure initial buy in will not be as massive for the next opus.

they will not spend time improving the RACING experience but instead work on something else like the "C-Spec" a.k.a. Grand Theft Auto - Spec. They will say Jeff Gordon will teach you the ways of NASCAR but you'll do is perform racing techniques learned from generic races and makes you listen to Jeff Gordon's very softened voice version in the game and many more...

Lol your complaining about complainers, guess that makes you a complainer. Lol

People who dont like threads like this should understand that what we want is a better product because we like Gran Turismo. If we didnt like it as much as we do, it would have been part exchanged, sold or left on the shelf and none of us would have an account here.

I was a GT fan until this version. I bought my PS3 solely for this game and while i am disappointed i still have 'some' faith that the patches and DLC will make this the game i waited 4 years for.

Still you dont play the game but spread your thaughts on one of these un needed threads. Why?

Well obviously the Monkey in the tree, Reg - that goes without sayin'.
Granted, brother.

Now...apart from the monkey?

Seriously people, I withdraw this thread - I made the post in jest at all the people complaining about every small thing, instead of enjoying what has been before us all this time.

It was something to lighten the mood, not yet another playground for egos to march up and down, stomping and expounding miniscule points - basicially repeating the same old stuff.

Mods, please shut down this thread.

To the few who enjoyed the original reference - glad to be of service.

I'm with you, complaining for the purpose of making the game better is the reason why I complain....

If you don't like to complain....then the museum glitch/file save size bug shouldn't got fixed because nobody didn't complain...

got the picture to all of you anti-complainers???

So you want the whole game redesigned?
While what has been released is a disappointing it is a functioning game with no huge errors making it unplayable.

Sadly these days there seems to be a rush the product out and patch later mentality (Tdu2, Black-ops, almost anything from EA) PD are just following the lead.
