Taken the MacBook into get the rubber base replaced after it warped due to normal operating heat. Sorta pissed that they have to keep it all weekend and couldn't just send me a new base.

Just minor stuff... Done some disk-clean up, defrag the disk, clean the LCD and vacuum the keyboard. And also rearrange ''My Documents''.

I let my laptop idle for a while with CPUID HWMonitor open, as it has a habit of going into hibernation around ten minutes into a game I might be playing.

In High Performance power mode it idles at 70+ degrees Celsius CPU and goes as high as 89 (190 F) :scared: Even in Power Save mode it wouldn't dip below 49 C (120 F) on the CPU; at the moment, under Power Save with nothing but Firefox open the CPU's at 60 C (140 F). The GPU even hit 74 C. :scared:

No wonder it would go into hibernation whenever I booted up a game, it's doing that to save itself!

(putting that into perspective, the very mildly OC'd i5 750 in my desktop idles in the low 30s and doesn't even hit 50 when in-game - the wonders of drastically greater cooling!)

I dont know what thread I should post it in... dont want to create a thread for few anwsers...

I am looking for gamaing laptop, hmm.... pretty powerful.

So far Ive look at ASUS G SERIES laptops on the ASUS web page, but seems they do not have any links to buy them. Anyone knows a good website with good prices to buy them?

As well is there a company, website, that I can order a custom made laptop with the parts I want to select?

If not, what is better ASUS or TOSHIBA? I own a ASUS LCD, and laptop and both never had any issues, so its my perfered company.

Hella pissed that they've had it for a week now when the said it would only take 1-2 working days to get the part from Apple and fit it.

Since you live in the USA you can take a look at Newegg.com. They have the latest laptops from ASUS. Personally after the experience from my ASUS laptop and a motherboard thatlived for 5 years, I would stick with ASUS. It would also help if you were to post what you can spend as the limit.

So ASUS it is. My limit TOPS is 1,500 USD if its lets say 1550 i can go bit over limit. 1,200 - 1,400 is ideal price. I want a product that has best bang for the buck.

What do you think its good price for gaming laptops?

Games I want to play is civilazation V, many steam games such as CS:S, TF2, etc... WOW would love to play that game on full settings, Star craft 2 that game can be on medium settings, etc..

PS. I will be buying a laptop in about a month or month and a half. My brother is moving out, and taking his PC with him. I need a laptop for portability.

Good news, my brother told me he will leve the PC since he wants to build a new one. So for now I will save up some money YAY.

Converting my videos to Blackberry format is annoying....
What program are you using to convert them? I don't have a Blackberry so I'm not sure what format they need but Any Video Converter has worked for both my Zen and Touch and coworkers Eris and Incredible. As far as speed goes, it will convert a 45 minute TV show in less than 20 minutes but YMMV.

New set-up in progress. Cable nightmare!

Recently purchased a Thermalright cooler for my CPU and overclocked it to 4.2GHz and idles quite cool at around 38-40C. Also purchased a Zotac Geforce GTX 480 AMP! edition to replace my not old at all XFX ATi Radeon 5870. I sold it to a friend and it pretty much payed for the 480. I'm quite happy with my rig. :)

Recently got a new Laptop, an Acer Aspire. Installed GTR2 and rFactor on it yesterday and wow, both the frame rate and graphics on both blows my Compaq right out the water, which immediately convinced me to make it my new gaming laptop. Hopefully around the time my second dispersement comes, I'll be able to get the two year extended warrenty on it and then get a another laptop to replace my aging compaq. Currently putting all my game mods and things from my compaq to the Acer.

I have been using That program to play movies on the Xbox and I think its called Super but I had to put some actual specs from a black berry forum.

Motherboard decided to be freaky and make the computer think the ALT key was down all the time....ripped PC apart and took Motherboard back under warranty. Now gotta wait 2-4 weeks for replacement...sigh.

Currently downsizing a 2.7GB HD video to 500MB using DIVX Plus Converter. I had to open the door of my NES-PC because CPU temps were peaking at 174F and now runs at 163F. I also closed F@H and Car Town(FB game) to reduce the resources to help cool the computer down.

That's pretty hot.

My PC "packed up" on Friday, had trouble working it out, either mobo or PSU. Went to my local PC shop, talking to one of the guys about it and he lent me a PSU to take home to test it (he didn't know my name or address, I have used them before, but I didn't recognise him). Was the PSU, got a new EvoLabs 750W (720W before, needed for my 4870). Nice relief, didn't fancy installing a new mobo and Win7 again.

So because it's a cheaper make, it means it can't do what it says it can? Something that is illegal in the EU and would have been tested by numerous standards agencies?

That's usually the case. Consider that a trusted power supply with a lower rating, such as the Antec TruePower New 550 or Corsair Tx650, costs twice as much.

I doubt it was tested by numerous standards agencies as they would all need the equipment necessary to test it, which would get pretty redundant.

From what I know, it will often be outsourced. But they still have to pass criteria to be sold in the UK market.

I'm well aware of why other brands will cost twice as much for lower rated units.

I've took my PC apart piece by piece and cleaned it this morning. It was dirty as hell!

I'm also checking Seagate's website to see how I must procede to return a failed 500GB HDD I have. When it stopped working last year I got another 500GB one but its space is running out quickly so it's time to get another one.

I will just say that part of that money does go towards quality including some components which cheaper PSUs may not have and actually being able to reach and surpass their rating safely.

Power supplies are more complex than just looking at the watt rating.

Oh really, I didn't know that
