People are seriously justifying spending over twice the price of the CE for the SE because of half a dozen stealth cars?!

And people complain about the couple dollars some other games charge for DLC packs

I too think that the SE edition is a rip off but I can understand why people are chunking out this much cash for it. I myself pre ordered the collectors edition and think that it is worth every penny not because of the goodies that it comes with, but mostly because of the quality product that has been polished to near perfection that will give me hundreds if not thousands of hours of gameplay. I don't think I can say that for any other game.

I Will only buy the regular version but i need to get that book, it's the only thing that interest me with these editions.

The real unicorns Will be hidden in-game..

Would it be smart to wait until I know what retailers are giving away which stealth cars so I can therefor choose which stealth car to get along with my pre-ordered Collectors Edition? Or will they run out by then?

Standard edition. Other editions are sold out where I always buy my games.

as long as you get your pre-order in a few days before release you should get a code. I also think all the US pre-order stores are already known.
Gamestop-McLaren F1 & Toyota Camry NASCAR
Amazon- SLS
Best Buy- GTR JGTC

I haven't heard anything about the NSX, R10 or 787B so I'm not sure if they are EU only.

Really? I best get deciding then.
I don't have to decide, they're sold out. The other customers decided for me. :p

Where did you hear that? Best buy has nothing about any bonuses on their site

I'm getting the standard edition as I also want to get a wheel so my extra money will be going towards that. I'm guessing that because the extra cars are exactly that, 'extra' that they won't be required to complete events in the game and I'm sure in the future they will be made available as DLC if I fancy paying a bit extra futher down the line.

For some reason it's not listed on the product page itself, but it is on the site.

Link (It pops up after a second or two)

Pre ordered the SE from Game online. Come midnight release day I'll probably go (very gingerly, donning full PPE) to ASDA and pick up a standard copy which will eventually become my little bro's birthday present.

Oh, I've got the Collector's on order too. But for $40 more here, I can see where the price increase goes. The SE doesn't come with $100+ more stuff.

Bolded part isn't proven, yet :)

Standard version. None of the stuff with the collectors edition or signiture edition appeals to me.

A 200 pages book with the history of the automobile, driving techniques, professional racing tips, car and engine basics and tuning know-how, and reference data about Gran Turismo 5 doesn't appels to you?

Appeals to me, however no such book comes with any GT5 version. I'm not sure how "200+ page 'Apex' driver's magazine with hints on driving technique, car tuning, future technologies and more" translates to what you said.

Honestly, I am trying to figure out why the description between the EU and US versions differ on that, as the US Blog describes it as:

The 300+ page exclusive Collector’s Edition book from Polyphony Digital will be essential reading for GT fans, containing everything from the history of the automobile, to driving techniques, professional racing tips, car and engine basics and tuning know-how, and reference data about Gran Turismo 5.
Is the EU version really getting shorted 100+ pages of the book?

But I do see where hardvibes got his description.

The question with GT5 seems to be does 200+ equal 300 :p

;)

I was unable to submit a vote, but I'm rockin' the Collectors Edition. I have got to have that car.

That would be a form of piracy, an act which is frowned upon at GTP.

Didn't see that before, don't pay attention to blogs. So the book is pretty much the TUNING sections from GTP put onto paper, and a wiki or two? Something tells me I'll be selling everything from my CE except the game.

I preordered the NTSC Collectors Edition a few weeks ago, so I'm set.

unfortunately only the collectors edition is available here in Canada so i preordered that but if they brought the signature edition here, i would definitely get that instead

European CE for me!

If I recall correctly, PS3 are region-free. If some of you really want to, you can resort to importing other versions.

Got the CE pre-ordered at JB HiFi the other day.... almost almost bought the Signature Edition though..

I think that's the long and short of it, yeah. Like me, a lot of people are more bothered about acquiring all 11 cars as early as possible because those are the things that benefit the game. The SE is the most convenient way to get them in one hit, PD know this, and charge you for the privilege. Everything else in the SE is just padding.

If the CE had all 11 cars, I'm sure that plenty of people would have just gone for that instead of the SE. As you say, why spend over twice the price just for half a dozen stealth cars? OK, granted, some people will genuinely want the SE for the model car and modest exclusivity, but the wallet, keyring, USB stick...take the GT logo off them and what do you have that's special?

I've gone back and forth on this one, and have settled on the CE so I get the ChromeLine cars. For the Stealth cars, I'm either going to just wait for them to become paid/free DLC, or I'll just pre-order three copies of the standard version. Once they send the codes, I'll either cancel the order before shipping if possible, or just send the games back under the distance selling rules. Bit of a faff though doing that.

Edit: I just had a Skype session with a friend of mine in the US and he's into racing games as well. He'll be getting GT5 too, and is buying the CE for the ChromeLine cars and the book. He's not bothered about the model GT-R, so he said he'll put that aside for me :) I'm going over early next year so can bring it home then. Now I'm thinking I might have to get the SE version now so I have both cars! Grrrrr!!

I`m going for the Collector`s Edition. I still don`t know which one, depends on the EU release date, which will hopefully be revelead at Gamescon.
If they tell me we europeans have to wait another 3 weeks, they can screw me and i will preorder the US CE.
