What would you buy in Japan?

I dunno, the really only car I like from Japan that I can't get here in Canada would either be an S15 Silvia, or an R32 Skyline. Not much of a fan of both but, I'd buy 'em.

An automatic Nissan Cube, or something even smaller. The Japanese govermnent has about a dozen taxes for cars, ranging from size to gas consumption.

I'd rely on the public trasportation there. They have taxis, buses and trains from anywhere to where ever you need to go. I drive here in the U.S., but Japan is a nightmare of a place to drive in, if you do live in cities. Japan has many taxes and fees for cars also, but if I had to own a car, it will be a "K" car like Suzuki Concept.

With my current job, I would starve, let alone buy what I want, which would be a 6th generation Celica GT-4 (ST-205)

MOre than likely, I would just go wtih public transport, but... if I needed something to get around, that was affordable.. it would likely be a Vitz or some similar small car...

Given the fact that I am a poor student, I would return with some comics. I would love to take home an r32 or 33. A S15 would also be great.

I wouldn't buy anything. I'd ship over my 240 and rock it KA-T. The Japanese go crazy over 240SX.

This is good reading if you want to learn about buying and owning cars in Japan.
One thing they don't mention here (because they're trying to sell you cars) is that oil is hugely expensive in Japan and cars will not rarely simply go without having their oil changed.

If I was in Japan, I would spontaniously become completely broke and starve to death soon after. The cost of living is outragous.
Assuming I could afford a car, I'd probably get a nice sport bike instead.
If I absolutly needed a car, I'd go for a Smart Roadster (assuming they have them there). Maybe a Mazda AZ-1 if I could find one.

Silly username having person: Could you actually afford a GT-R? If you could, it probably wouldn't cost too much more to import one to wherever you are.

From my experiences in Japan if you are willing to live like the Japanese it isnt so expensive as you would think, but if you are going to live more of a 'westerner' type lifestyle then it will become very expensive.

Bikes is a very popular mode of transport in Japan as well as trains and buses (although they get very crowded).

I wouldn't care how much money I made, there would be three cars I would definitley have to own if I lived in Japan.

Nissan Skyline, Nissan Silvia, and Mitsubishi Evolution. Model year and chassis type wouldn't matter to me. And if I had to choose only one, hmm.... I'd have to do a rocks paper scissors type thing. I'd be thrilled to own any of those cars!

R34, R33, OR R32. 👍 They are quite a bit out of my pricerange so the cheapest one would be what I would buy. I could never afford a new one.
I would keep my Camaro because I am sure seeing a 69 Camaro over there is like seeing a R32 over here. Very rare.

One of the employees of PD has a early Camaro, ive seen it a few times in pics.

Kazunori Yamauchi has one. :) Correction. It is an employees car like VIPERGTSR01 said.

When I was a kid, I used to love Camaros(late 70s to 80s). When I did see it in my hometown in Yokohama, it was as exciting as seeing Porsches or any other expensive imports. Camaros kind a got less exciting after I moved to Oregon though.

I forgot to say what I would get. It would either be a R32 Skyline GT-R, or a Older version STI from the 90's.

Or a newer WRX such as the S202? I would probably get the Nissan Moca. Cute lil booger it is. Or a Vitz- what's known as an echo hatchback here. Or, i would buy the biggest car on the market just to piss everybody off.

I would like a new Nissan President.

Older Presidents are better. I think the new one's based on Infiniti Q-whatever and there are nothing special about them anymore.

Toyota Centurys are still the old school limos, but the Presidents are no longer in a comparable class.

A Suzuki Hyabusa sports bike, I know I can buy it here but it has to be cheaper in Japan. Along with that some little Japanese truck, I really like the Mitsu Mighty Max but chances of finding one is slim to none. But I really don't think I'd want a car.

I would feel sorry for you guys with Skyline GT-R's. Price for gas over there is just crazy! I heard it was somewhere around 4 dollar per gallon. That is double the amount of money here! With a gas-guzzling car, you would die!

If money wasn't a problem, I would definately get a Nissan Skyline GT-R (R34).

I got some questions for those of you who have actually been to Japan.

*Is everything there mainly more expensive?
*Is it really crowded as it seems, so many people on the small island of Japan?
*Is there a lot of cars, or do the majority take public transport?
*We all know technology is really advance in Japan, is the majority of their technology expensive than it is here?
*Would a Nissan Fairlady Z (350Z) in Japan cost as much as a Nissan 350Z bought in the states?
