There's a pretty big difference between 2.10 and 2.11. 2.11 is when they went back and reverted the PP system after they changed how it worked in 2.10.

That's it?

I guess I can stick with 2.10 if that's all they changed. :boggled:

Good-bye online play. I have been playing Gran Turismo since Day One of the original release on Playstation. I did not start playing online until GT5 so losing online play is not a big deal to me. The online scene was stale until the realistic hybrids started showing up. I hate the overpowered hacks just like everyone else. A 50,000hp GTR really??? The hybriding gave GT5 new life to me. I was making cars for two weeks straight with plenty of new ideas everyday. I have over 500 cars in my garage from the UCD that I have not even touched and over 2600 paint chips. Plus many cars from the dealership that I have not purchased yet. I have no problem playing offline. I have restored my PS3 back to 2.11 and that is where it is going to stay. I understand why PD did what they did but I like hybriding WAY more than I like playing online.

I might go back to 2.11, still can't decide. I love making hybrids but I'm currently in a racing league, so maybe when our season is done I'll just stay offline.

If offline mode wasn't so stale I wouldn't have updated, but it is soooo.....

I'm not a hybrider per-say but I do support the cause of real swaps, something we all hope for in the next GT. I would have embraced the hybrids a bit more if I actually had the time and dedication to do it. I preferred getting on the track rather than playing with a tool.

It is nice though, to see everything back to normal, I'm not a huge fan of "change".

Does PP really matter when you cant access online?

Yes, it does. For those who race in the arcade mode, since the AI cars are chosen based on the PP of the player's car, with the patch which messed the PP up, the offline races would be worse than they usually are.

Uhg... I can live without customization in GT, Forza fills that gap pretty well so I hope GT stays the same.

The problem is that Forza is the competition and the idea of competition just like in racing is to give your self every tool to achieve the highest you can in the "race", in this sense customization options, to get as many people to play as possible. If Forza has nearly as many cars and is offering a better customization system we the player are losing out because the PS3 is as capable if not more capable as the Xbox 360 so we're not getting what's capable of being given to us. The thinking you're displaying is what is keeping PD in the Stone ages. The only features(although partially finished at best) that we have gotten since GT3 are , B spec, painting our cars and wheels and interior modeling. Where as Forza has had interiors, engine swaps and all the features we have wanted for a while since day one.

I cant understand why people choose to hybrid rather than race online. Where can you get a decent race offline ??

Arcade mode.

I said decent race. You cant even qual in arcade , start from the back every time and must be faster than every car to win from the back of the pack , hence you lose all close bumper to bumper racing. Where can you get a decent race offline ?

Yeah offline A-Spec and arcade mode. Also with the Secret Menu they can adjust the difficulty of the AIs

Not to mention 2 player split screen can be tons of fun. I play with my wife and friends all the time, it's better than A-spec or A.I anyday.

Hei
You can change difficulty in arcade without secret menu lol.

I know I was talking about A-Spec with the Secret Menu

Geoff
does that makes a big difference in the AI 's driving?
might have a try if yes

Supposedly yes

I have a feeling that before when PD had updated the AI difficulty in have a feeling they used that menu

What reason would one update to 2.12 for? What do you get with it that would entice folks to lose there hybrids? I dont go online at all to race in over a year. Dont care much for it so its no loss to me. I only mod for my personal purposes and I have never used any of my cars online or shared any of them.

I have no problem with PD doing what they feel is necessary to protect there product but I will not be updating. They would have to have one heck of a DLC with the new Viper, Mclaren P1, LaFerrari etc for me to even "consider" going back to SUV Viper et al. Also I love my Mclaren F1 LM, F40 GTE and LM etc. They will never bring those cars to GT franchise so no reason for me to lose them by updating.

Well for one the AIs can't drift worth a crap. They can't tandem. So yeah. Pretty much my reason.

The community I hang around is actually fun to chill with and to me that is worth more than having a 2JZ in my 300zx

Also I race with my friends and we have fun. So once again that's my reason

👍

Drifting/racing with friends, that to me is where the fun is.

Yeah I have fun ghost car racing with mates , hate split screen , but seriously if I couldnt race online I wouldnt race at all. Penguin you are obvioulsy racing in the wrong places , theres plenty of guys running great league races , just gotta find one to your liking. Spec racing online with respectful like minded guys is where the funs at for me personally.

There are many great aspects you can do offline and online. Use the secret menu and replace the nurb 24 hours with dtm and gt3 cars, or a mixxed field, and have a go with your car, etc.

Here:
I have (attempted) to host a few racing series, and just creating a thread about it on GTP (with all the graphics and whatnot) took a lot of effort. You need to find a time where all participants are happy with, you need to decide on the cars to be used, you may want to decide what mods cars are allowed to have. I would say a full days worth of work would be required.

Not to mention that racing series only occur, maybe, once a week. What are you going to do during the rest of the week?

Simply put, it's not as easy as you may think.

Does a racing series meet whenever you're available; or a specific, usually repeated time that may fall outside your schedule? Does a racing series build itself around your whim of what you want to drive at a certain time; or a more focused theme? Does a racing series allow variety in tracks and locales; or is it generally restricted to doing the same type of races every time you meet?

Because the answer to all of those questions is the second one, which means that it requires notable dedication to stick with it as it goes on; which entering an open lobby for a couple quick races when you have time does not. It's not "laziness" if something gets in the way of you joining and keeping track of an ongoing series; nevermind starting and running one yourself.

And by the way, I have attempted several times to join racing series on GTP. I found that having to rearrange my schedule to play a game at a specific time rather than whether I actually wanted to play, then being left without any place to play when I did want to play, made it seem an awful lot more like work than a game.

I can see youve been in this situation before. I dont know about you guys but I am after a simulated race experience. In reality as a race car driver , championships dont start when you have the time..... if you want to race , be there on time. There are plenty of leagues to choose from so I dont see a need to start your own , although it would be nice I agree , you probably should race in already established leagues to get a true race simulated experience.
