I can see youve been in this situation before. I dont know about you guys but I am after a simulated race experience. In reality as a race car driver , championships dont start when you have the time..... if you want to race , be there on time. There are plenty of leagues to choose from so I dont see a need to start your own , although it would be nice I agree , you probably should race in already established leagues to get a true race simulated experience.
GT5 is also a video game. What sort of video game is fun when you have to commit to a very specific schedule that can possibly interfere with your real life?

I'm not saying that race series on GTP are bad in that regard, all I'm saying is that you make it sound as if even unnecessary elements of real life racing should be incorporated into GT5.

Sports games like 2K Sport's NHL series have done it right with regards to that, where you can advance days to your liking, and are not committed to playing on certain days.

I feel like I must ask. Is it possible to enable the "Secret Menu" with the game updated to version 2.12? I only want it to run special races in Arcade Mode, no hacked cars or anything like it. Will that be possible?

The league I run in allows for real life bieng priority 1. They do this by running " drop your worst 2 rounds" from the points tally. This allows you to miss 2 weekend races over the season and still be in the hunt for the championship. After all , if we want to race with mates in a league , a meeting time must be arranged , kind of goes without saying and is definetly a neccessary element of real world or online racing

No.They moved everything (I think)from save game file to the game file. The only way to mod that is with a JB ps3.Even if someone with a JB ps3 find the menu I doubt they would be able to enable it.

I said decent race. You cant even qual in arcade , start from the back every time and must be faster than every car to win from the back of the pack , hence you lose all close bumper to bumper racing. Where can you get a decent race offline ?

In arcade made you start from the middle.16 cars you start 8th, and with the line-up I had and my modded cusco dunop sti, the races are intense. For your original question, most of the people I know who do hybrids only go online to share and borrow glitch hybrids. So the racing aspect of online doesnt affect them.I wasnt aware you could qualify on online races..

The problem is that Forza is the competition and the idea of competition just like in racing is to give your self every tool to achieve the highest you can in the "race", in this sense customization options, to get as many people to play as possible. If Forza has nearly as many cars and is offering a better customization system we the player are losing out because the PS3 is as capable if not more capable as the Xbox 360 so we're not getting what's capable of being given to us. The thinking you're displaying is what is keeping PD in the Stone ages. The only features(although partially finished at best) that we have gotten since GT3 are , B spec, painting our cars and wheels and interior modeling. Where as Forza has had interiors, engine swaps and all the features we have wanted for a while since day one.

But GT's focus has never been racing, it's always been more like a track day simulator. PD put so much effort into their cars to be as accurate as posible and in 2 minutes people turn them into fantasy cars. I'm not saying it's impossible IRL but if thats the case, then GT6 would be better with made up cars like GTA. Please understand this, there's no such a thing as an engine swap in these games, you just play around with values. I'm not against GT6 including all those features but seems to me that a lot people want GT to be Forza. I personally don't need that, I already have Forza. I don't want to end up with identical games on both platforms.

To Dmarc , I see how with altering you could create a decent arcade race yes. In our online races ( NCRracing) we do one hotlap in free run each then leave track, Note what position we are in regarding hotlap time then reset track. We then go out and grid up on the track in order during free run without completing a lap , start race and bamn there it is , a race started in qualified positions :)

I don't see how asking for engine swaps and better customization in general is turning GT into Forza, considering Forza isn't the only racing game with these features.

Oh, well. At least I asked. Thanks for the answer. 👍

That's the unfortunate part of GT5. Unless you participate in multiple race series, you will only have fun racing online once a week.

Only reason I got into hybrids, surely being able to allow players to remove wings and do engine swaps isn't too hard right?

GT5 doesn't know it's identity. It's stuck between a racing game and a scenic driving game where you can take pictures with terrible shadowing..

No.

I'm officially retired from GT5's online mode.

Won't lose my GT-One and my Sauber Merc...

Thats a great idea. And back when I was racing online I thought about something similar but forgot to bring it up.But honestly I think qualifying is necessary for a racing game but overrated imo.I can live with out it.

That's the unfortunate part of GT5. Unless you participate in multiple race series, you will only have fun racing online once a week.

Well yea now about 3 years after the game released.Last year I could set up or join races with my friends and race til my butt fall asleep any time of the day with an average of 4-8 players. This also happens to almost every game with online. So I dont get the whole "the unfortunate part of GT5" comment when it happens to almost every game, or atleast every game ive played with online.

Bottom line is we've all seen how easy it would have been for PD to give us a lot of what we wanted. Remember they asked the community a while ago what they wanted them to implement in the patches and updates to their unfinished game.

A lot of us asked for simple things like proper coilover lowering height on cars like the Ciper etc, ability to choose the cars in the race series and so on. Now because of hybrid img we have witnessed that PD could have easily implemented many of our requests but they choose not to for whatever reason. They dropped a huge notch with me because of how unpolished and unfinished GT5 is but they were lowered even more in my eyes after seeing how easy it was for them to grant us the requests we all asked for. Can't imagine the reason for stringing us along like that but they have been exposed a little by how easy it would have been for them to truly fix most of the simple and serious flaws with this game. I hope they redeem themselves with GT6 with a real effort on offline gaming instead of relying on the online gimmick to sell the game.

I have updated. I didn't hack my cars, but in Online it was fun, battling some madman in a slammed Fiat 500R in my Zonda LM :sly:

Even the non-hackers found it fun in the Hybrid Era. Bad move, PD.

EDIT: 100TH POST!

Got word last night that my guy has figured out how to mod cars on 2.12. I haven't received details yet, but I'm sure they'll surface soon 👍

I'll do both. On one account I'll update and race online with my friends, on the other I won't.

Now you're going to say both accounts use the same game data. That is true, however if you happen to have two disc from two different regions... :sly:

IT won't work on 1 PS3, its the game data where updates go. That goes across all accounts on your PS3.

I agree, but the way i think it could work, two different regions, two different game datas. So i simply need to be careful enough which disc I put in the PS3 and update the corresponding data. I'm installing EU (PAL) game now, I'll let you guys know.

I updated.

Now I have around 1220 cars in my Car Delivery truck thing.

And all are green tickets. Not for long though.

With newest update you can still add cars, parts, and paints.

Really your friend found a way to hack the 2.12? Is he bloody dumb?

Why would he be dumb?

I don’t care what your friend or the people who are also trying to find ways around the 2.12. But if you continue to do so Sony, PD will take other actions besides banning of accounts. I don’t think anyone wants to lose the ability to get on-line with their PS3 with any game. If this continues PS3’s will start being locked. Yeah some of you may “I’ll go buy another who cares or move to Forza” Little do some people know your internet provider will not change your IP address that easily and your ip address is sent with your PS3 serial number to the servers every time you sign online. If you’re doing it just for on-line go for it who in **** cares. But if you’re doing it for on-line racing even if you don’t when, don’t do it. This update has already messed up GT5. Menus are slow again and so on, stop messing it up for the rest of us.

Hummmm i fail to see your logic. Probably one of the most ludicrous things I have heard on this Site

So now you are saying that because some people mod that everyone will get banned? No just no.

Also how has this last update messed GT5 up? The updates for this game over the last two years have fixed some people's game and ruined it at the same time. For example, remember the loading loop problem people had? Some people had that problem and some didn't. It is a hit or miss thing with PD.

For two years I have seen me and other people (on GTP and PSN) complain about how the updates have made their system load slower, and give them other problems too. At the same time these same updates fixed the people with these same problem after the update.
So your saying we caused the problem because of the update is 100% invalid/inaccurate/ludicrous. So don't even try giving me that nonsense.

Blame the right people for your slow menu loading times. I or anyone are responsible for your problems with your system. That's PD's problem blame them.

I don't have loading problems after the update. It is actually faster. So once again proves my point.
