Right now, No I will not update. I used to have fun online but not in a good while. Maybe if something special comes along, I'll do the update. But I actually still have a un modded save data.

I may back up my save game and then update my game and see what all I lose afterwards and if I lose anything (which I probly will), Im going to try copying my save back and see if it works.

If anyone can confirm if this works, please tell me! :nervous:

So, after all this time, still no wheel spacers or an option for rear wing removal? Looks like GT5 will continue collecting dust on my shelf.

I WON'T update on my hybrids account, that's for sure.
Will do it on my main - boring - old account with all cars and....Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Instead, I'm being punished because they felt the need to stamp their supposed authority

You're being punished because you hacked the game, end of. This is far from unusual behaviour for a games manufacturer. I have played many games over the last couple of decades, including a lot of online stuff since the advent of decent internet. Without exception, all manufacturers of games that I have played have gone after the hackers, glitchers and out right cheats. I don't see what's so hard to grasp about that...

Never played GTA IV? Game is riddled with cheating, glitching idiots now and has been for some time. :(

Okey I have heard that the X2010 JP Flag Color is no longer in the game after the update, can someone confirm if it is true?!?!?! :scared:

I have also heard that cars are saved under the game data and not save data as well.

If you showed PD/Sony/Dad some respect, he wouldn't break your toys.

I don't know about you, but I don't pay my Dad to be my Dad.

Plus, I don't really know what you mean by "respect" - this sounds like old-person speak for "do as I say, because" with no elaboration or reasoned justification. That's not how respect works; and if you mean people cheating, then I covered that.

But sure, all those children who suffer abuse at the hands of their parents simply don't "respect" them enough, so they deserve it. Which is sick, when you think about it. (I think this is where the analogy breaks down, by the way.)

Will be updating as this does not effect me. Only wish I had learnt how to change the colour of a certain RX-7 "dam"

Nope, never saw the appeal of playing that game online, by the sounds of it, I never will. Fact still remains, that users are largely dissuaded from cheating, glitching and hacking by games companies, using a variety of measures.

I just find all this whinging about not being allowed to hack a game amusing...

I think I'll keep my hybrids... They made the game much more fun.

So no, I wont be updating to 2.12

Already updated. And playing online. Thanks PD for cleaning up the mess you didn't have too. I think this is hilarious too. And I still see PLENTY of online rooms to race in. HISTORIC win.

Do you have two mums?

Tell me why I should continue this thread of conversation in light of such a misinterpretation? Was it deliberate, due to an oversight or a severe deficiency on your part?

Er, no. I used a built in feature of the PS3 to get access to the save file. From there, I can do what I want with it. I never touched the game itself, and it's pretty embarrassing that the game just swallowed these mods like it did (but then hybriding has always worked this way, and has never been called "hacking" before."

I play a lot of PC games, and I mod all the time. Because it's more common there, it's handled differently. There are closed, cheat protected rooms, and open, do what you like areas. Which is as it should be.

The fact that draconian measures are not unusual for games companies is pretty woeful and is only a reflection of the money involved these days.

Actually, you'll notice that we still are "allowed" to "hack" the game, so...

Seeing as I have never been able to successfully play GT5 online since release.

I see no reason to update. Hybrids are more fun than PD's excuse for rubbish netcode.

Why is there so much pious trumpeting about this? As has been said ad-nauseum, hybrids weren't the problem, hacking wasn't the problem, the problem was numpties causing havoc in the lobbies and trying to cheat at the old style TTs. PD have responded disproportionately...

I own a sword. Its a lovely Japanese daito - the good ol' katana. Its beautifully polished and lacquered and sits on my den wall, proudly. I have never killed or maimed anyone with it.. nor would I even if I was so inclined. I'd probably use a stick... or a tenderising mallet. A few years back, there was an amnesty set up by police in this country enabling people to turn in such weapons without fear of recrimination because a few prize turnips had gone out and brandished theirs at the general populace. What the chuff? Firstly, the people who turned in their beloved ornaments were for sure not the same ones as would visit harm upon their fellow men with sharpened steel anyway. Secondly, sod off - its mine, I payed for it and I wants it. Its not harming anyone...

...and neither are my hybrids. Get the hell off your soap boxes. There was a better way to deal with this than the chosen method and its going to cause bad feeling.

I didnt do the hybrid thing even tho some of the things people was doing like the realistic stuff sounded cool, but i was'nt going to risk my account being banned, i still want my same account for gt6, so il be doing the update.

Yes, I'll update. While I did enjoy the use of a wingless RWD R32, it got boring after a while (and I didn't want to start making hybrids.)

I still enjoy some online racing, especially shuffle.

A built-in "feature" I've worked with enough code monkeys and script kiddies to know what that means. You keep kidding yourself, son, and I'll keep playing my games as they were intended...

So the save backup wasn't built into the game?

3. No I am not an extreme purist. I just love my Gran Turismo, that i paid top dollar for, and I Dont want to be sharing the track with a bunch of nob-ends in Yellow Asparadrink RX7's, Super low R34 skylines and lancers, 1500 bhp GTR's and 7 second 1/4 Mile Holden Monaro's that weren't included in the game from day dot.

Now what?

And you are somehow under the assumption that those "nob-ends" are going to stop ruining your online games just because they have to use other cars?

I'm going to miss my realistic hybrids that were gifted to me but as for the X1 powered ones I'm glad to see them go they were starting to get crazy.

It's interesting how often discussions of PD's heavy handed tactics in response to pretty much everything so frequently devolve into meaningless word salad meant to sound more clever than it actually is.

If I was PD I would've just made all modded cars look like flying tampons to others on the track but normal to the modder.
