Yeah, I'm updating. At first I considered doing hybrids and replicas, but I found other things that made my stay away from it, so I really don't care about it.

I've made the tough decision. I'm officially downgrading back to 2.11. I'd much rather drive my unique creations then listen to whiny kids online complaining about how they can't use their X1 because of PP limits and such.
Goodbye GT5 online. Thank you PD for ruining yet another fun experience for us all.

That sucks! Was planning on inviting you to do some online racing with me as soon as i got my PS3:indiff:

Why are people getting in their feelings about this? It seems very petty to get butthurt about, in my opinion.

Depends how deep you are into the game, how long you have been, and how much of an improvement (or game breaker, if you're a fair racer who strictly uses the game for racing and expect everyone to meet your standards of fairness) hybriding is to you.

The thing is, with improved lobby/general online play options PD could easily keep the 'real racing' from the 'messing around', and either could be devided into 'with/without hybrids' again as both existed since the game's release, but people didn't do such a fuss about either opposite playing style hurting them so far.

To me the hybrids gave gt5 a second wind and made game loads more fun so goodbye gt5 if next update does same thing.

Only took 64 days after the virus really spread out. Hopefully the next update is for the Lobby! Cant wait to update my accounts!

Not such the majority that you thought you were, eh guys?

Play fair, go by the rules and you may get what you wish for - or keeping on pushing at this and it will likely escalate to full-on IP bans. After all, you are all on a public forum and most of the more vocal modders have their PSN IDs on display - it wouldn't be hard for Sony to cross-reference...

Probably when or if they add dlc or some new online feature. But I doubt if they are doing any.I really havent been playing online for the past few months anyway so it dont bother me.It took PD about 2 or 3 months to fix this, meanwhile COD's from 4 years ago still remain hacked because some how they cant do anything about it lol. They are "hacked basically the same way GT5 was. They dont care as long as they get their money.

In a couple weeks there will probably be a new tool.

I doubt it, nobody knows how to edit the game data itself.. on a legit PS3 anyway.

That makes no sense at all. So your saying only 204 people are playing this game?Do you know how many of those who voted yes prefer to play online than continue modding ? If you dont update you dont go online therefore it will be moot for them to ban you from playing online...

I think you guys don't have to pick just one answer.
Keep your old PS3 HDD with all those hybrids.
Get a cheap 3.5" hdd/ssd, put into PS3, install everything, including 2.12. Use the latter for online play.

Indeed, if this same thread was made on a certain forum where hybriding is supported, and was/is being discussed (I'm sure people here know which I'm talking about), I'm pretty sure the result would be entirely diferent.

It's funny because I made hybrids and I was one of the people who voted yes. I had a feeling that even with hybrids, GT5 would still be boring due to the shallow offline content, so I said screw it and updated. Sony can ban me from PSN. I don't care. I've only been using my PS3 to play PS1 games anyway. Just glad I've got Forza to fufill my racing needs.

Why does it matter to you what I do in my own time offline? And as stated, take this poll to another forum and it could be just the opposite result.

Of course I'll update tonight.
Hacked cars lost their appeal after GT2.
Online was/is the only reason buy GT5. Gran Turismo's offline experience has been rubbish for a long time. Hell, I want them to scrap the AI and offline development completely and just make GT6 an MMO.

Nope. Not for a very long time. This has brought life back to the game and I don't need an online experience. I was a full supporter or Polyphony digital but this is ridiculous. They act as if this ruins the game, yet there are SO many ways to avoid modded cars. Spec rooms, hp/weight limit, COMMON SENSE.

It's a sad day for true enthusiasts in the Gran Turismo community until we find a way to get passed this disgraceful move by PD. I'll be staying offline for a while.. & Making sure this save is on my computer for when my buddy figures out another way past this. It will happen.

Until then I'll stick to F1 2012 and RFactor for racing against humans.

Well I've been playing since release day. I play what the game gives me. They could do what you suggests, but why have it illegally modded? PD they had this stuff in the game, but they hid it for a reason. If they wanted to have that stuff in the game, the game would have came out last year(referencing Kaz wanted to spend 2 extra years on the game..)

Although some of the hybrids I've seen are sweet, I couldn't be bothered to indulge myself. I'm just saying there is no need to have a hissy fit about it. Whats done is done.

Oh, and what hybriding means to me.. if the car is made in the realm to race other cars fairly, then yeah I'm for it. Other than that, I would hope their PS3 blows up in their face.

Well said Mitch as soon as I saw update I went out and bought the cheapest online racing game I could find and thought well this will do for now until gt6 when it's released.

Oh the irony.

See ya stop posting in the GT5 forums then! Go hack your other games.

If you've got nothing nice to say, keep to yourself. Not everyone wants to hear your say on everything.

I do, he makes me laugh and Simon often makes very valid points. No need to go waving your handbag around just because someone got a laugh at your expense.

Anyone who has hacked/externally modded cars can have no justifiable complaint. I am gobsmacked at how people who have previously enjoyed online can not enjoy GT5 by joining races set up in the online racing series section of GTPLANET. I do understand how creators of hacked hybrids might miss any cars they've made but how they can get their knickers in a twist over what PD have done to protect the integrity of the core part of the game beggars belief.

In the end those people can still keep their cars by no longer updating GT5. Seeing some of the names who have said they won't update seems a shame and a loss to the community but I guess they made the decision to hack the game and knew the potential consequences.

Yeah, that's true. People were getting too out of hand with them. A stop had to be made.

why not just adding an option in the lobbies ??? allow hybrids or not: simple as that...

i won't update now that's for sure, they won't take away my babies!
i'm bummed.

Because it's not that easy to limit their use. Sure, getting obvious ones like it's going over a certain speed that the could not naturally meet, or tires. But the slightest modification can give the biggest advantage.

I don't know if you know but I contribute a fair bit to the GT community whether or not I'm playing it.. Check my signature. ;)
I don't hack games. Never have, never will. Hackers ruin games, enthusiasts make them better.
Yeah i'm sure you did.
Prove that he is lying?
I've already picked up F1 2012 to replace my GT5 racing for a while.

So what about the people who you play with that doesn't have hybrids? I have longtime friends that I play with daily who doesn't have hybrids. If I owned one, and wanted to run cars with them, how would I?

Or, if we was longrime racing pals and was in a same make/model race and your car was a hybrid. Would that be fair to me?

..I think what I said made sense..

This update sucks. I had hybrid cars which I made myself but was willing to make the sacrifice if it meant I could drag online. Then I get to know that this update resets your setup. Not only on hacked cars, but on your legit ones too.

This is why I hate PD for doing this update. I've put countless hours into tunning my cars, getting my transmissions, suspensions and LSDs to where they got me the top spot on the leaderboard on this site and another site contributed to Drag racing in GT5. So I'll update the game, and have no setups on my cars to drag online? Lose an uncountable amount of hours that I spent perfecting my tunes?

An even better thing is, people can still use stage 5 turbos, engine upgrades, weight reductions and RSS tyres, to get that 50 extra bhp to beat you online, call you slow and claim their tune is super fast, and you can't even prove they have a stage 5 turbo on. Or a tripple plate clutch. What they have done is destroy the fun for moders and make it even easyer to cheat for cheaters.

I've been a great fan of PD ever since I got my PS2 with GT3 but now, not so much. They act like Kim Jong-un, showing everyone "who's boss", completely ignoring everyone else's desires.

Imagine getting a Gallardo IRL, taking it to UGR to get your twin turbo kit but then getting a message from Lamborghini saying that you can now only use your car on track. If you want to take it to public streets, they will track you down and take the kit you paid for off your car and not give it back. How would you like that?

Shh...you hear that? I think that's the sound of nobody caring!
Welcome to my ignore list.

Jaysus, he really doesn't like people who disagree with him does he? Looks like I've been well and truly handbagged.

This update resets non-hybrid cars too? Are you kidding me?

Theres one thread in the drag subforum about, would be good if more people can confirm if this is true.
Does updating reset the settings sheet? If it does then that will lead to alot of angry people who will have lost great tunes.
There is still another maintainence for the 25th right? Will there be another patch too.
