I am not either. I have two PS3s, so I'm using one without the 2.12 for hybrids, and one with it for online, therefore I couldn't care less.
But also, I'm not being a **** about this situation to others because I understand how those who lost their hybrids feel.
But I guess some people just can't live without conflict...

remember this is PD we're talking about, even iRacing has better sound now on an engine from 2003, it took them 3+ months to roll out a 24MB patch to fix hybrids, you really think they're going to fix GT5 now? don't hold your breath.

Sure it's not harming anyone else, so it seems fine to do it, but the fact is that it's an illegal drug and if the police find out they will do you.

I don't really get these people complaining about those OP cars, it can easily be avoided.
Besides, if there's a couple of "those" civics in a race and they get 1st and the legit players finish after that, can't you just ignore them?

That would require that the majority of players have some common sense....which seems to be in very short supply these days. Perhaps we should call it uncommon sense.

I think it is a shame that this update happened but it was inevitable. Even if ONLY a few people had these Hybrid's and they weren't OP 3,000bhp Skyline's then I still think PD would patch it. PD seem to have an... Odd, recluse way of running themselves and their game too.
I won't be updating as the fun of being able to make a certain car sound realistic, make a good replica and be able to generally mess around with some cars and just creating a 17bhp X11 are all things I don't want to not be able to do anymore.. GT5 was beginning to lose its allure way before this hacking business came around and I would like to enjoy the game I play, and I want to play GT5 because the added customisation has made me enjoy the game more. Just my two cents.

So once again we have a pissing contest between GTPs more vocal and egotistical members. You do realise don't you, all of you, that none of your opinions are any more valid than anyone elses?

The facts are simple unfortunately, even though that may be irksome to many who enjoyed their hybrids in a harmless and private way... particularly as some of the protagonists here keep pedaling them like some sort of mantra.

-The making of hybrids contravenes the EULA, it just does. Sorry about that.
-PD could've taken a more tolerant stance but they didn't, possibly due to 3000bhp Civics in online race rooms.
-They could also have taken a more draconian stance like Microsoft have chosen to do on a few occasions. Be thankful they didn't.
-Hybrids can be fun and to a few, even serve some purpose in adding life and enjoyment to GT5. Its a shame we can't race them online but we just can't. Sorry about that.
-If you have a 2nd PS3 or a spare HDD, you can have one for playing with hybrids without annoying anyone else and one for online racing. This doesn't elevate your status though.
-Those who choose to run hybrids on their own as outlined above (or just saying goodbye to online play) are not harming or annoying anyone else. They are not damaging the game, PD, Sony, any other GT5 player or causing delays to the production of GT6 and as such should be immune to the pious rantings of the chosen few who have taken a moral stand against hybrids or hacking of any kind.
-Those who chose not to have anything to do with hybrids have obviously taken their stand, as is their right and no amount of wailing about losing your hybrid cars if you chose to update (or your PS3 did it for you) will illicit sympathy from them. More likely it will inspire scorn, resentment and further pointless ego flexing.
-Those on both sides of the fence who continue to try and justify their own view to the opposite camp about whether there is a place for hybrids or not, are wasting their time.
-If you run hybrids and enjoy them, great. It doesn't make you right or a better person. Just enjoy them... quietly.
-If you never made or ran hybrids, great. It doesn't make you right or a better person. You can feel smug if you like but do it quietly.
-If you don't like, or never liked, GT5, why are you even here? (Ok this is a question not a fact )

All I know is if GT6 don't meet expectations, PD won't see another dime out of me. Because of this patch, they have lost a customer with me. What about it? AUPs are a set of rules set up to limit the way people make use of a service... changing the game's code contravened the AUP for GT5s online service.

Edit - I think I need to elaborate slightly here. When we all bought GT5 we were also given free access to an online service. Free... and subject to terms of use. That was bypassed and so PD have taken steps to fix that. They are still providing that free service however, just being more stringent about how it can be used. Its their service though and they are not actually stopping anyone from playing the game as they wish... offline.

I don't think that was Jordan's driving thought when he set up GTPlanet. This has become a circular argument in which many of the contributions are perilously close to being personal attacks. And what has living in the US got to do with it?

Its a discussion forum, yes. Pissing and moaning isn't discussing and although I agree with the principle of freedom of expression, in practice, particularly on the internet, it becomes "I can say absolutely anything I like and no-one can do anything about it"
