I picked this up on a whim for PS3 as my Xbox is in storage and I had no racing games to play. I'm really enjoying it so far.

Did the previous games have rewind? It takes a lotta frustration out of learning the tracks and cornering techniques.

Yup, the last three certainly have had rewind but I think the first did too. Enjoy the game.

If you are thinking of getting the earlier games, a word of warning. Three and Four are very similar in feel but the first two are a lot less...umm, polished. They're still very enjoyable but I thought it best to warn you beforehand.

Thanks very much, I'll stick with this one so far as I like the career progression. Milestone deserve success after their long years in the industry... Superstars VX is also a pretty good racing game.

The First game doesn't have the rewind was only introduced in WRC 2.

Weird, there is stack of trophies for on line game play. And those trophies are only for on line game play, no matter if you winning or loosing.

Sorry, I'm sure this has been covered somewhere in the thread;

1. Where is the best place to get WRC4?
2. Does WRC4 have triple screen support?

Thank you!

Anybody who wants to do some multiplayer, psn=ipswich1992. Struggling to find mates who wanna' play WRC lol
You can add me too - I went online today for the first time; all pretty good and smooth - mind you there were some connection issues.

EDIT: Lobbies automatically kick you after a series of races is done, if that's what you mean. Others may be a bit impatient or have bad connections. That's always been an issue with the WRC games, plenty of people with shoddy internet.

Having said that, it does seem far more improved over the previous versions and lots simpler to use as well as allowing enough time to apply a tune to your car choice.
Add me sir, should be on over weekend.
Back online at last, though I'll be working on the weekend unfortunately...

Have added you MeanElf :)

No what I meant was that people just keep jumping out of lobbies even before the stage has finished. It's hard to get a good consistent session going :P

I did a 10 stage rally and only 5 out of a total of 24 racers lasted whole season. I got 3rd and a stage win near end. :D

Yeh, something like that would be brilliant. Anyone around tonight?
I'll be on shortly and maybe later tonight too. Yeah, the disconnects can be a pain, but I believe if it's like WRC 3 then they will lose points. Before each race, the disconnect percentage is shown for each player, so you get an idea of how reliable the other in any lobby are. In the end though, if penalised by points-loss, they'll learn to stay the course. As well, the points you earn for completing a championship help level you up far faster - that might help too.

On the other hand, the WRC games are the most demanding of all online racing games, especially if it's a rally season of ten stages - you're looking at an hour minimum. I did a WRC 2 rally and stuck it out, even if I don't like them as much. I ended up third too and would have had a first if I hadn't rolled near the end of a Greece stage :)

Weird goings on with the disconnect rates. I was disconnected from a lobby when losing connection with the host, yet I got the 100% disconnect rating which stayed for the next five races...yet my stats showed 43 stages raced and 43 stages completed.

I think I know why some of the faster drivers are still only at level 1 - they keep forefeiting whatever points they've built up for dropping out before the race is ended. The penalty can be quite hefty and it takes some time to level up as it is.

Ye 800 points for that 1 disconnect I had was crazy large, it takes so long to get that amount of points normally. Praise to Milestone though for discouraging people from just dropping out every ten seconds.

I was shocked at just how fast some of those guys were, 12 seconds on a 2.5 minute stage is ridonculous.

Yeah, that was bad - oddly enough, for my disconnect, I didn't get docked any points, so maybe it was a server glitch.

I stayed with a group from Spain yesterday who were all within fractions of a second of each other throughout...and about 45 seconds ahead of me (well, I'm not that fast, so no surprise there) - but they were fast indeed. Luckily so far I've only seen one cheater. I haven't checked yet though to see if ghosts can be downloaded.

EDIT: No you can't, which is a shame as it's a quick way to find out who the dishonest racers are and so you can avoid lobbies with them in.

I seem to remeber WRC3 did a similar discouragement tactic via points too.

1. I think Indie Game Stand has it the cheapest, but I don't know if it's a Steam key or not. I'd recommend a Steam version just to make it easier in case they ever update it... Which I guess they might not.

2. Yep, it has a little check box in the launcher for triple screens. While I still had my three 1680x1050s I had no trouble setting it up at all.

Ill wait for price drops so when i purchase WRC 4 i won't feel like i wasted my money. I like Demo but it's way to expensive for me in this stage. For like half of what it's worth now it's good deal.

I don't think the full retail price is a waste at all - that might be just me though.

Maybe not, but I'm glad I didn't pick it up at full price a week ago like I'd intended.

The console copies at my nearest retailer were cut in half this week, so I took my chance and it looks like I got a good game out of it as a result. I haven't had that much time to play it since Monday, but if feels like the sort of rally game I've been waiting to try since CMR 2005 or WRC Evolved. Apart from the odd frame-rate issue on Monte Carlo, I've had no problems. Graphics aren't as poor as I was expecting, and rallies like Finland are a satisfyingly challenging.

Fair enough - your situation though wasn't out of choice...that was the price you found in the store as opposed to waiting it out on purpose.

My point is more that Milestone is a small studio still, so supporting what they do is only fair, I feel.

True. Plus it's not as if I was expecting prices to be discounted the day I dropped by. Quite surprised actually.

But yeah. If the original price had stayed the same I would have grabbed one anyway.

So if I order this from the UK from EBay or Amazon, I'll be able to play it correct? Or will there be some sort of regional lock?

No regional lock - well not on the PS3 there isn't. You might have problems with DLC as you'd have to get that via the US Store, but I don't think any will be coming for this game (unless I missed it in all the GT6 excitement.)
