Might not be everybody's favourite, but I like the Junior WRC front wheel drive Fieste. you have to really work them hard to show their potential.
I've just completed the JWRC this morning and it's a lot more fun than previously - I always dreaded having to do those and this time I think I'll go back and do another season later. I wonder if it will be the same countries every time?

Haha something that has always annoyed me about rally games, the co-driver has way too much to say! Just read the pace notes and don't say anything else thank you very much.

But at least the ones in DiRT always have a sharp comment to make and try to be funny. :dopey:

I always liked Nicky Grist and Derek Ringer from CMR04 and 2005. The Evolution Studios WRC games always had good pace notes too.

Fave moment from the CMR04 Nicky Grist notes was every now and then (were required) he would say "Mind this tree here" when there was a tree jutting out into the road. Pretty cool.

WRC Rally Evolved was good, I liked the paper style notes at the top. Also note the crashed car at 2.14.

amazing game!dtgt plays amazingly, you plug it into ps3 and it's just perfect.. codemaster should take note of how to support wheels...

I maintain that Derek Ringer in CMR04 is the best co-driver in any rally game to date.

As for WRC4, I'm undecided. Getting back into older WRC and CMR games has me interested in something new and right now it's the only new game I feel like trying out. Originally considered getting a PC copy since it's half the price of the console versions, but I my laptop specs aren't really up to scratch.

I'm really excited to get this game, they've reworked a lot of things and they've come a long way since the first game Milestone made.

But there was a problem with WRC 3: all the stages in one rally ran on the same freaking roads! Rally is like a journey; IRL they cover about 300km in total so the stages are always in a different location from one another. But in WRC 3 all the stages are just repetitions in opposite ways and different start and finish locations, Always the same location and roads...

I want to know, is WRC 4 the same? Or are all stages in one rally completely different from one another? Like in Colin McRae Rally?

It's the same, unfortunately. It's as if each stage has a number of start and end points plus a few branches, and they're run either way, so over the course of a weekend you might do the same section of a stage three or four times. You might not always notice, but I remember one location that has a Red Bull sort of gantry thing going across the road and I saw it - pretty sure it was the same one - four times.

IRL, almost every stage is run twice, so basically half the distance is new.

I remember, in one interview, they said that they did something about using same parts in different stages, but yeah, it is the same as it was in WRC 3.

It's been the same in all four games - but no one is going to get a game with anything like the full stage lengths - well, it's extremely unlikely. I can only assume it's to do with graphics levels and loading times.

On a plus note, the stages are really improved quite a lot, and in some cases such as Germany, Finland and of course Australia you'll have a lot of totally fresh stages to learn not in the previous games.

Oh yeah, that's true. Now Finland looks just like in real life: quite tight, bumby and cresty, twisty with some quicker sections with jumps. They've certainly improved the rallies! 👍

Finland was smooth and fast almost all the time full throttle run for too long. I like it improved.

The game graphically looks very appealing, but I was so disappointed with the wheel problems in WRC3 that it's tempted me away from this. However, if Milestone are planning to make one for the next-gen console then I'll be all for it.

I thought they said they had COMPLETELY re-designed the stages? That Monte stage above is almost identical to the WRC 3 version.

Only some - like I said: Germany, Finland, Sweden and Australia. The rest have more details such as a few new buildings and some alterations to the stages (like with Argentina and Portugal), but the rest are visually very similar to WRC 3.

monte carlo, spain and mexico are the same from wrc3 while all other rallies, even if already present ahve been totally redone (like finland or sweden) or "modified" like portugal or greece.

Actually, going back to your point I don't recall Milestone ever saying they'd compeletely redesigned (all) stages, only a few country locations. Do you have a link for that info?

No and there's a good chance it wasn't milestone that said it, I just remember reading about re-designed stages. Im not complaining though I really liked the Monte Carlo and Spain stages so i'm glad they have kept them.

Does anyone know if the PC multiplayer is working fine now?

Ahh, fair enough. They are pretty cool, eh? I think Milestone did a better job of MC than Codemasters did...well, if there was true night to drive in then WRC 3/4 would win hands-down :sly:

Almost completed the game now - soon be ready for online once the internet gets connected next Tuesday. One thing I've noticed is that nothing appears to need repairing on my car, except bodywork - so either that aspect is less sensitive to my gearbox mangling driving style...or I'm getting better at driving

Small question. I just noticed that when I set the Steering Deadzone to 0, the game still has a deadzone it seems. Does anyone know how to remove the last bit of deadzone?

I am using the T500 with a 35cm wheel. So the deadzone gets pretty noticible I guess. So if anyone knows a way... ;)

The one thing i'm having trouble with is the clutch. The first half of my pedal acts like the accelerator,i'm on ps3 using a fanatec 911 turbo s.Am i the only one with this issue?

Other than that,it's handling is leaps and bounds ahead of all previous wrc games put together.

Almost ready for online now - connection should be up in a few more days...

Really enjoyed the game and have taken over 500 screen shots so far - they can be really quite impressive considering.
