No idea - their official vids for WRC3 got a fair amount of flak on Youtube too for no real apparent reason...but that's people on Youtube for ya...

Because every man and his dog thinks they can do better. They also think that Milestone has unlimited resources time and money as well as a 10'000 person team and an office to rival Microsoft/Turn 10 or Polyphony.

Simple fact is they don't. They have a very limited budget and a small team. Despite this, the SBK games got progressively better culminating in Generations which was excellent. MotoGP13 which got a lot of abuse, was their first foray into GP racing and was very good fun indeed. Superstars V8 Next Challenge is one of the most underrated games on this gen of consoles.

WRC 1 and 2 were not brilliant but they were far from awful. WRC3 changed that with its new graphics and physics engines. Wasn't keen on road to glory mode but the game was still a huge leap from WRC2, looked good and played really well. WRC4 so far is looking like a general improvement from that which can only be a good thing. Examples:

- Stages no longer have repeating sections and have been redone.
- New light and weather conditions, for every stage.
- "Brand new career mode" We don't know much about it yet just that it will "put the player into real driver’s shoes"
- Better car models.
- Improved sounds.
- Better atmosphere.

The comments on Facebook and Youtube are unjust not only because people don't know what they are talking about and abuse for the sake of it. But also they haven't played it. People who have played it have been saying its very good.

Well said (all of it) - you exhibit the patience that I lack.

I just find that beating a developer down isn't going to make the next game any better than if they receive some encouragement and constructive criticism. IT's plain to see for anyone that these games have got progressively better and I expect the same from 4. Does it have a release date yet by the way?

Could've been a little more ''raw'' regarding the engine sounds but clearly an improvment.

👍

Yeah, definite improvement, the back fire and blow off sounds are pretty nice now. Hopefully there's some variation in the sounds between the cars too. Stage looks nice, should quieten those who complained that piece of German stage we saw earlier didn't look German enough. Looked pretty good to me. Some nice narrow sections in there too.

Although it's from the same stage as the one Hyland found, it's a longer version and looks to be a different time of day, maybe dawn. I can't vouch for their driving skills but we are still waiting on Alan to do one of his hands-on vids.

I could have sworn that he implied he left GamesCom with a demo copy of the game...

Agreed, I kind of got into some trouble about that a while ago concerning GT6 for pretty much the same reasons, so I haven't been on here for a while.

Release is still 'the end of October' - so that's five or so weeks.

As far as I can tell, the video you posted is at noon while the new gameplay video is at dawn. Can we expect a new gameplay at dusk anytime soon?

There is a new official gameplay of the same stage on TEAM VVV's site but that looks like the same as yours. We saw a brief bit of that stage at dusk in the Light & Weather vid and it looks quite dark - should be fun.

Greekfans at WRCgame have done a sound comparison vid of the Polo, which is quite interesting.

Only problem is, the real sounds are external, and game sounds internal. :)

Anyway nice updgrade to the sounds. To me what really matters though is the wheel support, which would have to be much better than in 3. Options for ffb, rotation, etc.

I believe Milestone already mentioned that both will be supported (900°), plus H-box gearstick.

So driving with wheel is going to be much harder, more wheel movement :/ Ill hope standard WRC 3 wheel movement will be also available so this game is more playable

They only said that there would be increased wheel support plus the H-box and 900° and that will likely be optional. So I'm guessing all of the usual wheels supported previously will still be okay.

The audio seems to be completely out of sync in the latest gameplay, or is it just me? Other than that, it looks good. Though, I wonder if we will ever see footage with basically all aids off.

I guess there's still no release date? October is right around the corner...

Anyway, has there been any info on how the career will be laid out? Will it have those non-WRC game modes in them again (drift, survival, crash and burn or whatever)?

1 week or 2 after F1 usually. I'm guessing 18th or 25th. Not sure on career mode but it is apparently an "all-new" career mode.

Milestone
WRC 4 is the official game for the 2013 FIA World Rally Championship and features all the rallies from the 2013 WRC calendar, complete with all leading WRC teams and drivers in the revamped Career Mode to turn players into real WRC drivers.

Inside Simracing did one for WRC3 without aids, and I think Adrian F1 does his vids like that too - otherwise I doubt it.

That'd be my guess too, though I'm leaning closer to the 25th personally.

Oh well. A demo will be coming soon anyway, I assume. That should unravel any doubts.

As for the Facebook page. I actually find it quite amusing.

I feel so foolish. Not being a FaceBook user, I didn't realise there was a new vid link to SS1 Rally Australia there too...

The dust seems to hang in the air for longer and the effects on the car seem improved too.

Now this is only a slight worry, as they have shown us at most one stage for each location showcased...but I fear that there is a somewhat generic feel to the new stages we've seen. Other than the larger elevation changes in Finland, the Australian one is quite similar. I'm sure, like I said that the other stages will bring out more characteristics of that country, in much the way that the German road rally differs from the Alsace road stages in its feel.

For anyone else that didn't realise there was a vid there - this will save you scrolling back up to the link above:

SRTMedia on YouTube put up several new videos (including the beginning of the career mode, XBOX360 version).

It's looking more and more as a definite buy for me this year.

The career mode has always sort of annoyed me. It's cool to a point but when I look at the career modes in the SBK games, particularly Generations, and MotoGP. Would be cool if the career mode was, start in JWRC and work up to WRC instead of mucking about with making a team and stuff. Which I get some people like but some people also just wanna drive the official series' bottom to top.

Random weather is a good addition that was sorely missed.

Yay! :D

My wish for this game has come true.

Watched the InsideSimRacing video in the snow stage. Seemed like he had way too much grip for those conditions.

The cars seems to have way too much grip regardless of condition. I really wish they would've taken notice of the advanced physics mod that was available for WRC3 on the PC. Looked great, in my opinion.
