Gear.Club Unlimited 2 Coming to Switch By End of 2018

With Gamescom less than a week away, the announcements are coming thick and fast. The latest comes from Microïds and Eden Games, with the news that Gear.Club Unlimited 2 is coming to Nintendo’s Switch before the year is out.

The racer will be a sequel to last year’s title, which brought semi-realistic racing to Nintendo’s hybrid system. While the original was a mobile game port, GCU2 will seemingly be an exclusive to the Switch. It will no longer have the licensed car racing genre to itself either, with V-Rally 4 launching at the end of September.

Perhaps the biggest news so far is the inclusion of Porsche. In the trailer above, we clearly see the 700hp 911 GT2 RS, while other Stuttgart models are set for inclusion as well. It will be interesting to see if Eden Games holds onto RUF just as The Crew 2 did, or if it sheds the marque.

Gear.Club Unlimited 2 will feature over 1800 miles of roads for players to conquer. In addition to the tinker-friendly garage feature returning, they’ll also need to recruit drivers into their club to take on others. It’s unclear if this will be via leaderboard times like the last game, or genuine P2P multiplayer.

We weren’t exactly bowled over by the original in our GTPlanet Gear.Club Unlimited review, but we’re looking forward to see what Eden Games has done to improve the package. Expect more details very soon; the game will be playable on the show floor at Gamescom next week.
