Gran Turismo 5 Online Maintenance Schedule Released

Polyphony Digital has taken an unusual – though certainly welcome – opportunity to announce scheduled downtime for Gran Turismo 5’s online services through mid-September. While it is not clear what, if anything, these maintenance periods will bring with them in the form of software updates, it’s worth noting the release of new GT5 versions have frequently been released after network downtime.

Here’s the schedule, though actual start and end times may vary:

  5. September 9, 2011, between 10:00AM and 6:00PM  Eastern Standard Time
  6. September 15, 2011, between 10:00AM and 6:00PM Eastern Standard Time

Kazunori Yamauchi has already confirmed we’ll be receiving a “lean” late August update, so it is reasonable to assume it will become available after one of this month’s maintenance windows. Thanks to Blake for the tip!

    >>>>>petition for working In Game Air Conditioner

    1. Mysterypnoi

Yes gt sox will b epic lol and should have anti slip pads to make sure ur feet won’t slip from pedal….. XD

    1. Mysterypnoi

Yea cuz honestly the last one wasn’t that bad…..or at least it was complete. Let’s hope PD makes a big update soon

  2. Foxiol

Very nice to see that they care about on-line services.GT5 is getting better step by step and this is all about for the next GT6 for sure. They are making the way for the upcoming beast game. (remember that)

  3. mohammad

    ehhh
a few more RM plans & the ability to RM some more cars is very nice.. but its never gonna be a livery editor..
i see people talk about more premium cars & more RM options .. but i think with a livery editor your gonna have unlimited choice of cars & fun in the game

    1. GT_Die_Hard

I really like the idea of the livery editor, but since there is a lityle chance its comming to GT5 , id rather like to see this, that when you want to paint your car there is an example where you can see the colour. But i think its better to show it on the car itself instead of the example, so you can exactly see how the colour fits your car.

  4. Johanhummer9

I hope they fixed the online (long loading times garage etc) and if the online phycics where the same as the offline

    1. GT_Die_Hard

I dont think PD will spend any time on matching racingshoes with your suit while there are many things to be fixed on GT5.

  5. glw

Hmm… It is now 14:45 pacific time, so that makes it 17:45 eastern, and the servers are still down for maintenance… I wonder what PD means by “please note that the exact time of the maintenance may slightly vary.”

    1. King Something

      @Glw

6:30 PM is 1830 in 24h time. You gotta add 12 hours, not 10, when converting from 12h to 24h time (but only for times after 12:59pm)
      Quick, abridged chart:

      12 midnight (12:00 am) = either 2400 or 0000
      12:01am = 0001
      12:30am = 0030
      1:00am = 0100
      9:59am = 0959
      10:00am = 1000
      12 noon (1200pm) = 1200
      12:59pm = 1259
      1:00pm = 1300
      4:00pm = 1600
      8:00pm = 2000
      10:00pm = 2200
      11:59pm = 2359

Once the GT5 servers are back up, I’m sure Jordan will post on the news blog what changes were made (new seasonals, game update 1.11, etc.) within an hour. And even if he doesn’t, there will be a thread or ten started within 5 minutes (and the superfluous threads locked by Minute Six) of the return of the online services.

    2. King Something

Quick update to my previous post:

There already is a thread active (titled “GT5 Maintenance notice.”) and in that thread, some people are saying the online services are back up but they haven’t noticed any changes yet.

  6. Coolkat67

I would if they will ever make the stealth and chromeline cars avalible to purchase on the playstation store for people here in north amereica.

    1. GT_Die_Hard

      @Mazdaman83
You could already have those if you bought the Collectors Edition like i did. I dont want to see those cars for sale, because they would lose their rarity. Thats 1 reason why i bought the CE. It was only 70 dollars while the original game was like 50 or 60 or something, and you got a nice case and a great magazine on how to improve your driving skills etc.

    1. moondaddy79

It was only condescending to those who would leave stupid comments. So do you already own an XBOX,or are you on your way to get one now. Just curious.

    2. BadLt58

No YOU STFU moondaddy. Its too bad your a terminal fanboy PD apologist. Some of play games where our expectations are met (like BFBC2 or BF3). Kaz is talking about making a game for a system Sony hasn’t even announce yet(PS4).

Meanwhile he can build a game that was promised BEFORE PS3 even came out. Play the Driver Demo on PSN. I’m trading this POS GT5 (I have every game since the demo disc for PS1) and trading it in for that.

I’m so sick of all the KAZ suck-ups here. Get a life.

    3. EliteDreamer

Wow seriously? I see no fanboy-ism in his comment.
Also I say this to anyone who says “Get a life”: He has a life, it’s just different and possibly odd to you. There is no reason to say get a life when obviously they do live their life how they want.

  7. moondaddy79

The comments in this reply are not aimed toward any of the people that have already left comments. Just to those that will be leaving stupid replies later on. And you know they will be.

Remember everyone. GT5 Prologue is going to be going offline soon, so I’m sure they are preparing to make room for more advancement for GT5 to grow.I personally would rather see small steps taken toward making GT5 a better driving game, instead of a large update that totally hinders the performance of the game, and has an enormous amount of players ticked off at (PD) for not doing there job.But I can almost be certain no matter what they do there will be those people out there that aren’t happy any ways.So a note to (PD): Take your time do what is necessary to make things progress.

And for all those who have nothing better to than to B#*ch and Moan about not getting your way,Go start your own gaming company. Build an empire out of it.Make a driving game that not only rivals the GT series but surpasses it,then do what you think is right. Now if you do not have the time to do that, Go buy an X-BOX or a Wii.

    1. Magic Ayrton

Get you lol.. in a way you are right.. I Love GT5 and I do want it to grow… we were all left a bit dissappointed when it came out but I am prepared to wait a few more years to see it turn into what we all know it can. Do you think that we will get more tuning options in the future? Multi layered sound (induction roar for example) We all know that tracks and cars are welcome DLC even if I have to pay for them.. would be nice by Christmas. ;-)

    2. moondaddy79

(@ BadLt58) First off,the first sentence in your reply comment is redundant. Let me quote it.(“No YOU STFU moondaddy”.)At no one time did I tell anyone to “STFU”. You are trying to reiterate something that I didn’t say, therefore making it redundant. 2nd I am not what you would call a “terminal fanboy.” And as for an “apologist” I don’t think so either. Not at one time do I try to defend any one franchise, and or employees of a certain franchise. Just stating actual fact doesn’t make you an apologist. It just makes you honest. And as for the Driver demo. I will play it as soon as I can. I’m sure I will love it like all the rest. I have them all. I guess that makes me a Driver Fanboy too.
And finally as for your Get a life Comment.Just to let you know. I have one. And I love it. I hope you can find the same happiness in yours. Good day to you.

I am glad that everyone took the initiative to announce future downtime due to maintenance. Usually, that sort of thing is not announced, esp with times and dates.

  9. Bien Cien

I’m not going to jump into conclusions but we might some major bug fixes today and maybe even some new minor features.

I just hope that the current OCD cars will be still waiting for me when I get there. Oh please don’t leave yet.

  10. Dan

=/ i just started playing again after my 2 month break …. the dam standard cars really start to piss me off now due to there horrible jaggies…. ima photo mode addict XD

    1. ripped

I would really like to see the Minolta as a premium car. It looks awful faded out and jagged. Looks “out of focus”.

    2. Quakebass

      @ripped,
Also, don’t forget the Bugatti Veyron, its terribly disappointing to see it jagged, and I agree – the Minolta should be premium, along with most of the other LMS and LMP cars…

  11. 1KNm)

Let us hope for DLC availability.

It is time for PD to get paid for the lovely updates they have given us for FREE so far.

Add up some premium cars, an upgrade from standard or new ones..

either way I’ll pay, and I am sure more of GT fans would.

    1. EliteDreamer

You think that’s what will come out of online maintenance? And you don’t remember it’s going to be “lean” update do you? Read people. Don’t get overjoyed.

    2. NLxAROSA

Paying for DLC: agreed. Paying for stuff that should have been part of the original game to begin with: hell no!

That said: these online updates probably don’t mean anything in terms of game extras/upgrades/patches/etc.

    3. 1KNm)

Actually, you would not pay for the maintenance updates, rather for the work they actually put into making your 50 bucks (give or take) well spend. Thats why I said for free.

Yes I know it is going to be a lean update, and I am happy whatever it will bring. Im not overjoyed, just hopeful. The more people approve they are ready for paying for DLC the chance to grow PD attention to the subject, which is my intent.

Sony as a company is well concerned about the profit GT brings, so why not enlist a DLC pack(ages).

      We, will, pay.

    4. Rayb677

I agree with you. The only problem is that I hope the DLC will be available also on disc because I have no PlayStation Store available …

  12. killa_kandy

Theres also a new seasonal coming on the 30th. Its Nascar based and you can win the Jeff Gordon Race Suit. Just letting you know Jordan

  13. maxpontiac

    Unusual but appreciated, indeed!

Something tells me that GT5 will be significantly better at the end of September.

    1. LordVonPS3

I’d like to see the track generator updated to feature a big square of tarmac and the ability to place cones wherever you like. I’d like a lot of other things besides… I’m just surprised some of the more communicative moaners on here haven’t started mocking up screenshots to show KY exactly what they want?

  14. GOTMAXPOWER

Remember he said there wouldn’t be a big update soon so don’t get too excited hoping for 500 new tracks or something silly

    1. ripped

Heck, I was only hoping for about 250 new tracks. I’d be real disappointed if we did not get at least 100 new tracks. Also, figuring on about 150-200 premium cars. Of course, then that sort of thing may be all bundled with the PS4.

  15. kekke2000

Hope it’s time for Online Seasonal Events a.k.a. GT5 Prologue Online Mode :) It’s odd to have an Open Lobby without an option.
