Gran Turismo 7 Weekly Challenges: Super Powers

More Gran Turismo 7 Weekly Challenges are heading to consoles as your local clocks tick over into Friday morning to mark the start of the latest set of bonus events.

Weekly Challenges comprise a set of five races, updating at midnight on Friday each week, which also award bonus prizes for completion. A special green box in “World Circuits” lists them, along with the green markers on the individual races, as four of the races use existing events in the game. However there’s also a fifth “Special Event” that’s created just for the week’s racing, which vanishes once the entry period expires.

It’s an unusual line-up this week, but we still see a pretty regular spread of reward money that begins with the Silvia Sisters race at Tsukuba Circuit. This is a three-lap race for Nissan Silvia road cars — including the 180SX and SilEighty — and you’ll often find the AI use some of the wilder body updates and engine swaps for this series, so you’ll need to be on your guard to earn the 27,000cr for victory.

There’s a much longer race up next, for barely any more prize money as the Japanese Clubman Cup 550 at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps 24h offers just 30,000cr for winning its three-lap race. You can use any Japanese road car or “professionally tuned” car for this event — even the Silvia you just used — but make sure you’ve got some pace on that long Kemmel Straight…

Trial Mountain Reverse hosts the American FR Challenge 550 next, with a little bump in prize money to 56,000cr for victory in the three-lap race there. You can use any FR (front-engined, rear-wheel drive) road car from an American brand for this event, and like the race above don’t worry about the “550” notation which is simply a suggest Performance Point (PP) value for a somewhat competitive race.

For this week’s Special Event you’ll be heading to Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya GP’s “No Chicane” layout — skipping the final RACC chicane — for a fresh event in the Ferrari 812 Superfast. You can use the car in any state of tune for this five-lap blast, but you don’t need much to overcome the AI (which looks to struggle with the rear-wheel steering) and score the 85,000cr prize for victory.

This week’s finale is a bit of a different one from the usual World Touring Car events, and also one of the highest-paying races in the game. It’s the Fuji International Speedway round of the Super Formula series, running over 15 laps of the famous Japanese circuit.

You will need to have unlocked this event to access it, and own any of the four Super Formula cars — Honda or Toyota, 2019 or 2023 — which will set you back a million credits each. It’s also worth getting some wet weather tires for the race as it can be rain-affected, and remember to have a button assigned for the overtake Boost feature. That aside, it’s not too tricky to win and pick up the 200,000cr.

We’ve got more component tickets this week as the bonus rewards, sandwiching a credit ticket. Completing any one race — by finishing third or better — will award a Six-Star (Parts) ticket, which checking off any three grants you a redeemable 150,000cr ticket. Finish the full set and you’ll land a Six-Star (Car) ticket, which can award you any Brand Central car (including Invitation-only cars) worth 500,000cr or more. Imagine receiving a Super Formula car from it…

You’ll need to have completed GT Cafe Menu Book 39 and watched the ending movie in order to have access to the Weekly Challenges. The events update at midnight local time on Friday mornings, so we’d expect the next set on the morning of Friday July 25.
