Gran Turismo 7 Weekly Challenges: Hurry Up, We Avantime

There’s likely only two more sets of Gran Turismo 7 Weekly Challenges coming in their current form, so the latest suite of events that are available from Friday morning probably constitutes the penultimate offering.

That’s because Gran Turismo 7’s Spec III update is looking pretty likely to arrive in early December, and is set to change how the Weekly Challenges operate, adding events other than regular races to the line-up. We don’t quite know how this will play out, week-to-week, so enjoy the present setup while it lasts.

Weekly Challenges are a bonus game mode, available to players who’ve finished the main GT Cafe career, bringing you five events to take on during a one-week period. Currently that’s four races from the existing World Circuits races along with a Special Event created for the week. Along with the prizes for your finishing positions in each race, there’s extra rewards for completing them while they’re an active set.

Gran Turismo 7 Weekly Challenges – November Week 3 Races

Sunday Cup Classic – Autodrome Lago Maggiore

One of the lowest-value races in the entire game awaits first, with a two-lap run around the compact Autodrome Lago Maggiore Center circuit in the Sunday Cup Classic. The only limitation here is a stipulation that you must use a Road Car (and not a Tuned Car), which means you can go wild with a Vision GT and try to lap the 350PP field if you like. However you approach it, the race is worth just 5,000cr.

Historic Sports Car Masters – Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps

Our other races this week are far more lucrative, starting with the Historic Sports Car Masters event at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps. There’s a bit of a list of limitations here, with cars required to be within the 580PP cap and only those from the years 1960-1989 inclusive, but there’s plenty of options and no particular limit on how you hit the 580PP. Winning the three-lap race earns you 55,000cr.

Special Event – Sardegna Road Track

For the Special Event we’re back in the funky four-seat, two-door, MPV coupe from the masters of weird at Renault. You’ll need an Avantime for this race, but there’s absolutely no limit on tuning; you’ll probably note some of the AI have Espace F1-like bodykits, though none are particularly tweaked under the hood. It’s a four-lap race, with 60,000cr on the table for the win, and you probably only need slightly softer tires.

Hypercar Parade – Red Bull Ring

This is one of the three events you’ll need to unlock if you haven’t already done so this week (HSCM and the event below being the others), but it’s a relatively simple affair. The only limitation is that you’re required to use a Road Car (again, no Tuned Cars), but the AI does bring some pretty potent machinery to the fight. It’s a six-lap run around Red Bull Ring with 90,000cr available for taking victory; watch out for that Valkyrie…

Neo-Classic Competition – Willow Springs

In another week without a WTC event to round things off, we’re heading to Big Willow for a ten-lap race in the Neo-Classic Competition. You’ll need something within an 800PP cap, on Racing Tires, and built between 1980 and 1999 for this one, and there’s some wild rival cars here. Speed may not be the key though, with this race’s high tire wear and fuel consumption multipliers giving you a good chance of winning on strategy and taking the 121,000cr prize for victory.

The bonus rewards come as tickets which you will need to redeem from your Garage’s Gifts to claim the rewards within, and this week it’s a full suite of credit tickets.

Regulars will know to expect that’s a 100,000cr ticket for completing any one event, a 200,000cr ticket for finishing any three, and the 500,000cr ticket if you clear the full set.

You’ll need to have completed GT Cafe Menu Book 39 and watched the ending movie in order to have access to the Weekly Challenges. The events update at midnight local time on Friday mornings, so we’d expect the next set on the morning of Friday November 28.
