Gran Turismo 7 Weekly Challenges: All Gilles-ed Up

The refreshed Gran Turismo 7 Weekly Challenges are back, beginning on midnight Friday morning in your local time zone, with a familiar feel thanks to this week’s standard event in the special slot.

While we weren’t sure what to expect from the update, the general format of Weekly Challenges remains the same. It’s a set of five events you’ll need to complete during a seven-day window with bonus rewards for doing so, but the Special Event may now be a time trial, a mission, or a race. Either way the Special Event lasts just for the week.

This bonus game mode updates each week and offers a quick way to boost your coffers by around a million credits (in coin and in-kind) each week, and is available only to players who’ve finished the main GT Cafe career.

Gran Turismo 7 Weekly Challenges – December Week 2 Events

Lightweight K Cup – Tokyo Expressway

This week’s lowest-paying event is a lot of fun, coming in the Lightweight K Cup at Tokyo Expressway’s South Clockwise course. You’ll need any kei car, with Comfort Soft tires required and a maximum Performance Point rating of 400PP — and we’d tune for speed, not cornering here. It’s a quick three-lap blast and the reward for victory is 32,000cr.

European Sunday Cup 400 – Goodwood Motor Circuit

One of the new races added in 1.65 is up next, in the European Sunday Cup 400 at Goodwood. Unlike the event above, “400” is not a Performance Point (PP) limit but a guide on a level for a fair race and really you only need a road car from a European brand. 52,000cr is yours if you can grab the win, and since things like the Ferrari and Skoda Vision GT are eligible it shouldn’t be too tricky…

World Rally Challenge Gr.B – Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya

Rally had gone away for a while, but it’s back again in the form of the World Rally Challenge Gr.B at the currently unique Rallycross course at Barcelona. This one requires a Gr.B car (and, redundantly, a racing car) on Dirt tires, and is an eight-lap dose of chaos worth 65,000cr. Hard mode challenge: try to get the clean race bonus…

Special Event – Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve

We get a racing Special Event this week, with a One-Make for the recently added Ferrari 296 GTB road car coming at the similarly new Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve. This one’s a five-lap affair and the whole AI field is in entirely stock form so it won’t be terribly tricky — if you’ve learned the track — to take the win and 85,000cr along with it.

Super Formula – Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve

It’s a double-dose of Canada to round things off with the new high-value, 250,000cr race at Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve in the Super Formula cars. You can pick either engine from either year — 2019 and 2023 — for this one, and you can select any type of Racing tire for it but beware the absolutely massive, 18x tire wear multiplier of this one. 15 laps separate you and the reward, and don’t forget the overtake feature…

Completing Weekly Challenges will gift you bonus rewards, increasing in value the more you finish, with prizes for checking off one, three, and five events, in the form of tickets. You’ll need to redeem the tickets from your Garage’s Gifts to claim the prizes, with this week’s rewards offering something other than just credits for the first time in almost a month.

You’ll still grab a 100,000cr ticket for finishing any one event, and a 200,000cr ticket for getting past any three, but the reward for completing all five has changed. It’s now a Six-Star (Car) Roulette ticket, which can award any Brand Central car at a 500,000cr value or higher.

In order to have access to the Weekly Challenges you’ll need to have completed GT Cafe Menu Book 39 and watched the ending movie. The events update at midnight local time on Friday mornings, so we’d expect the next set of the new-look events on the morning of Friday December 19.
