More new Gran Turismo 7 Weekly Challenges are becoming available to players worldwide, flipping to a fresh set as your console’s time ticks past midnight and into Friday morning.
You can consider Weekly Challenges as a bonus game mode, available only to players who’ve completed the GT Cafe career and offering five events to take on each week with some additional rewards. They can be found in a special, green UI element in World Circuits, with four races drawn from the existing events therein and a fifth “Special Event” created just for the week.
There’s the usual range of rewards for the races themselves, from some lower value and easier events to a very high value, new event added in the 1.62 update. Things start off with the Sunday Cup Classic race at Monza, which is open to basically any road car and with the AI using classic road cars it’s pretty easy to smurf this two-lap race for an easy 30,000cr.
Most of this week’s events have more fine detail in the regulations, beginning with a Japanese Clubman Cup 550 race at Alsace Village Reverse. You’ll need a road car or “professionally tuned” car from Japan for this race, although the “550” notation is just a suggestion Performance Point value for a competitive race. It’s unusual to take on this course in this direction, but if you can remember which way it goes for three laps there’ll be 60,000cr awaiting you if you take the checkered flag first.
Our Special Event is up next, comprising a one-make race for the Honda N-One RS ’22. This kei car is pretty good fun to drive, and the AI field is decked out in widebody kits and one-off liveries that give the event a unique feeling. You’ll need to wave a tuning stick over the Honda too, probably to about the 400PP level of the Lightweight K Cup. and with Laguna Seca hosting the race for four laps we’d say grip over grunt. There’s 80,000cr for the win here.
Another rarely seen track is Circuit de Sainte-Croix A, which hosts the Nissan GT-R Cup next. Only roadgoing GT-R models, from any generation, are eligible for this race (although the R35 Safety Car is allowed in too), and you must fit Sports tires and ensure you don’t exceed 700PP too. It’s a three-lapper and there’s a nice 94,000cr for victory.
We have the traditional World Touring Car event to round us out with the highest-value race this week, and it’s the event added in 1.62. It’s the turn of the WTC900, with a ten-lap race at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, and 300,000cr available for victory. The only conditions are that your car can’t exceed 900PP, and with high tire wear and fuel consumption multipliers it’ll probably be best to not overcomplicate things and find a nice Gr.2 car like the lead AI use — or a Gr.1 if you want to make it a quick one.
There’s a return to a suite of credit tickets for this week’s bonuses, which you’ll need to redeem from your Garage’s Gifts to claim their value. Finishing any one event grants a 100,000cr ticket, completing any three is worth a 200,000cr ticket, and there’s the usual 500,000cr ticket for checking off all five.
You’ll need to have completed GT Cafe Menu Book 39 and watched the ending movie in order to have access to the Weekly Challenges. The events update at midnight local time on Friday mornings, so we’d expect the next set on the morning of Friday September 19.
