There’s a certain sibilance surrounding the circuits in this week’s set of Sport Mode sprints. The new selection of three races features some friends from right back when GT Sport launched in October 2017. That’s most true about Race B and Race C. Both combinations are among those we might have seen even back in the closed Beta, getting on for almost three years ago.
Race B takes you to the Dragon Trail Seaside course. There you’ll simply bash out — perhaps literally after the most recent update to the penalty system — four laps in the Gr.4 car of your choice. You don’t have tire or fuel worries, and it’s a full rolling start, so it’s a simple but effective challenge.
This week’s longer race at Race C heads to another old favorite, in the shape of Gr.3 race cars at Suzuka. It’s a ten-lapper this time, with only Racing Hard tires permitted — but with 7x tire wear you’re probably not going to need to fold in a pit strategy. Again, this will just be a case of going for your favorite in the category.
The car in Race A is old, but the track is very definitely post-launch. For this event you’ll be doing four laps of the Sardegna Road Track, in the mid-length B configuration — the one that cuts through the windmills, with significant elevation changes. The car in question is the Alfa Romeo 4C Launch Edition road car, detuned a little to 183hp, and with a bit of ballast. It’s a specially provided car, so with only two color choices you can look forward to a very red and white striped grid start.
All three races will run through to Monday, January 20, when another new set of three will replace them.
