GT Sport Daily Races: Pickup the Pace

The first set of Gran Turismo Sport Daily Races for autumn has arrived, with a rather unusual event first up on the docket for the week.

This week’s Race A takes you to Australia’s famous Mount Panorama circuit, but puts you in a car we rarely see in Sport Mode. You’ll be driving the Toyota Tundra TRD Pro pickup, probably the largest car in the game and at one of the most narrow tracks.

That will make overtaking on the two-lap race something of a fraught affair, with any hope of passing over the mountain just about out of the picture. Hopefully nobody has any kind of incident at The Dipper, or the entire circuit will be blocked.

Just to add a little extra spice to the event, the pickups will all be wearing Racing Hard tires. You shouldn’t run out of grip any time soon in these two-ton monsters.

Race B is a little more of a regular affair, as you’ll be heading to Suzuka Circuit in the Gr.4 cars. That’s not quite the whole story though, as it’s actually Suzuka’s East short course that hosts the race.

A pretty compact circuit, taking in only turn one and the esses before heading back to the main straight, passing will again be at a premium — probably only at the awkward first and last turns. You have seven laps to make a move stick though.

Meanwhile Race C also takes us east of the Greenwich Meridian, with a visit to Fuji International Speedway. It’s the “full” course this week, including the Dunlop Chicane, and you’ll have 12 laps there in your choice of Gr.3 cars.

This should be a very familiar event, as it crops up regularly on FIA rounds. You will need to be aware of the tire requirements though. Players must use both Racing Soft and Racing Medium tires during this race, or face a one-minute post-race penalty.

These three races will run through to Monday October 4, when another set will replace them.
