Kunos Highlights Old & New With Latest Porsche 718 Teaser for Assetto Corsa

Kunos Simulazioni is certainly making the most of its deal with Porsche, at least in terms of pre-release hype. Just last week, Marco Massarutto teased the entire contents of the first of three Porsche packs scheduled to land in Assetto Corsa before the end of 2016. Over the weekend, he moved onto Volume 2, sharing an image of 718’s, both old and new.

Up top is the newest image, showing off the classic 718 RS 60 in front of the new, all-turbo 718 Boxster. The historic racer is enjoying a renewed level of interest from enthusiasts after Porsche’s decision to link the modern Cayman and Boxster to it via the numerical designation. It was one of the new-to-series inclusions in this year’s Forza Motorsport 6 Porsche Expansion, and should prove just as exciting in Assetto Corsa when it touches down there.

The numbers on the tail of the newest Boxster and Cayman aren’t just there for marketing, either: the adoption of four-cylinder engines gives Porsche’s entry-level sports cars a genuine tie to the lightweight 60’s racer. We can’t see whole car, but the safe money is on it being the 2.5L-powered S model, packing 345hp.

Marco’s teased the cars before too, and we’ve included those two images below. The first is a rare glimpse at the older car sans textures, while the second is a close-up of the modern taillights of the Boxster (or Cayman, possibly).

Stay tuned for more info on the Porsche packs, as rumour has it the release date of the first collection will be confirmed later this week.

As fantastic as it sounds, finally the real Porsche coming to a great simulation, come down of the hype train! Japanese pack showed us all PS4 users how to fuxx up a dlc. No online use is a shame. And they working on it… As long the Porsche are only single player restricted it is only quarter the fun it would be online.

But the last Porsche I drive was in NFS Porsche. Back in the 90. Underground includes also porsche but that’s not fun. Hope they fix it till the first porsche DLC release and make it online available!

And it must be said. Porsche, not RUF. Although I totally respect and admire that high end car maker. There is something about the genuine item that does it for me.
I wont do XBONE or any of their products.

But it’s been since the PC version of “NFS Porsche Unleashed” that I’ve driven an actual Porsche in the simulation world. This will be nice when it arrives.
Thanks KUNOS. This DLC will go on my PC and PS4 versions of Assetto Corsa for sure.

So, just what does the season pass do for you? I already purchased Play Station Plus.
    Do I need anything else?

Season Pass gets you the Japanese Pack, the Red Pack, and all parts of the Porsche Pack, as far as I know. I bought it last week $30(US) when the Japanese Pack came out. I look at it like I WAY overpaid for a DLC pack, but now I get free 3 packs for free (assuming there are 2 parts to the Porsche Pack).

Also, having PS Plus does not have any effect on DLC access.

Also also, I’ve literally never seen ‘NFS’ and ‘simulation’ used in relation to each other, so that made me chuckle =)

You should understand, GrumpyGrumps, that NFS Porsche Unleashed was a really good racer. Is really a simulator to me… well, kinda where Forza 6 lies. IMO of course.

I can’t take it anymore! I need legit Porsche’s in AC. The ones I have now are okay, but I know the official Porsche cars will feel 1,000 times better on the track.
