New GT5 Time & Drift Trials, OCD, & Maintenance Schedule

A batch of new Time and Drift Trials have gone live in Gran Turismo 5, along with a revised Online Car Dealership that highlights Mercedes-Benz.

Grand Valley Speedway hosts the first Time Trial for Japanese cars weighing no less than 1200kg, and Circuito de Madrid Mini hosts the second for front-wheel drive cars weighing no less than 800kg. The Drift Trials are held at the Daytona Road Course and Cote d’Azur. As of writing, though, there are no new Seasonal Events.

Polyphony Digital has also revised the GT5 online service update schedule they originally published last month. The game’s online features will now be unavailable during the following maintenance periods:

Yeah , we can speculate until we go blue that’s for sure.
The wording ” September & October ” would imply to me a couple of updates , however it could just be stalling for a bit more time….

Race saves I would imagine should be in there somewhere , although I / we can only speculate what else is coming……

    1. maryrob21

That’s true. Nobody but PD knows what is coming next to GT5. I hope they also put in caster settings and tire pressure adjustments. I think that will make GT5 a lot more realistic.
For those who don’t know what caster settings are I’ll explain it the best I can so you know.
A possitive caster setting is where the center line of the tire is adjusted, the bottom of that line is moved forward to allow the tire to turn easier in a turn when turning the steering wheel.

@TJC_69 What I’d like that isn’t already confirmed is at least a SIMPLE livery selector or editor, more cars and tracks, and brake options in the tuning shop.

    3. TJC_69

      @maryrob21
I agree with you that tyre pressures and castor would add some extra depth and realism to the game. I can’t see it coming though unfortunately , but it would be good to have extra tuning options if they did.

      @Quakebass
I would love to see a livery editor also as an option. This feature ( which has been around for a long time in other games , NFS Underground PS2 anyone ? ) , would be an amazing addition to GT5. More cars and tracks ? Well we have over 1000 but some premium conversions would be a nice touch. More tracks definitely , even the rumoured list of the previous GT tracks would be welcome. Seattle and Midfield were great fun. Indeed a possibility….

We will slot in GT5 and have a nice surprise at some point . I don’t even mind what they give us , I just really like this game.

      :D

Too bad there’s only a few new cars from the previous game that they put in here sure wish they had the s class and more. As for update I’m not expecting much it’ll probably turn out to be endurance race saves which people have been begging for and they said they’ll implement that. Don’t expect new cars or tracks.

wasn’t it said that GTP servers will go off 30 sept? Look in the older news. Maybe the maintenance has to do something with that? ….hopefully preparing leaderbords for gt5!

  4. fitftw

ok it’s 6:20 and server is still down. Oh well, running some Nurburgring time trials. 7:43 in Viper SRT10 with racing intake filter and titanium exhaust/high flow cat on Sports Soft.

  5. TheLoveNinja

Server appears to be back up in the UK. Got the maintenance message when I booted up, but went into Seasonal Events and it’s let me in.

  6. Simon

Why when the servers are offline do they have to flash up a message in game telling us so every frigging time we enter the main menu or career home. So annoying, once will do PD, I get the message.

    1. Passeyfier

I know, it drives me up the wall. Every single return to the home screen, this message pops up, there really should be a disable message option. It’s not as if we’ll forget when we can’t access seasonals or go into the lobby.

    1. recca

what, really?! i could’ve sworn i checked and there was nothing..well can’t check now as it’s undergoing maintenance

  7. Herrwazza

Seeing the posts from the guys in NY, I feel a bit luckier to be living in the UK. Even though I don’t seem to have the kind of equipment and passion or GT5 and cars in general as you guys, your descriptions of your experiences have been more personal and informative than any news channel I’ve seen over here. I wish you the best of luck guys in having the least hassle possible with the weather.

  8. willfred_1

are they reconfiguring the gt5p servers for gt5 on line
as this could be part of the feature updates with more on-line features

  9. VR30

I hear you on that too. I have a NHRA Pro-RWD class Eagle Talon drag car that is all covered up and tarped in my driveway on my trailer. But somehow (I think it was a gap in the drivers window) I have some moisture getting in somewhere. I would’nt mind as much but I’ve got like $13,000 worth of engine management systems, data loggers,Knock sensor Safegaurd computer and ignition system in the car,and I literaly just dropped over $40K into the drivetrain and turbo system. I’m dreading going outside and finding a 60ft maple tree on top of my car. Just to be safe I unplugged the electronics and took them out. But I am still a bit worried about the wiring itself. It has a standalone engine management in the car so there is no OEM wiring. It’s all nice aftermarket wiring. But it’s all exposed only covered by that cheap plastic wire cover stuff. I have no choice right now but to leave it outside because of my other car being in the garage. To top it off,we’re expecting more rain tonight. Good luck to all my fellow NY’ers.

    1. sumbrownkid

      @royalefatale:

Did you miss the part where he wrote “NHRA Pro-RWD class”?

It’s better off putting that much into a used car to run it for drag, than buying a new car.

I’m in upstate NY. We got hit hard with raim storms last night. I’ve got 2 feet of water in my basement. My PS3,G27 wheel and shifter are fine. But my G27 pedals were in about an inch of water for about an hour. Hopefully nothing important got wet. I’m about to bring my system, and playseat upstairs in my bedroom and make sure nothing was damaged. It was pretty funny. My wife’s screaming about her Nook and her Blackberry and all I was worried about were my gaming devices and other electronics such as my flat screens and my super expensive Yamaha sound system. Already got her phone replaced, but if my system is messed up you can bet I won’t be a happy camper. If I can’t get online to take advantage of the new features I’ll be even less happy. Wish me luck everyone!

    1. Paulo

I live in lower NY, that sucks, but you know whats worse? My E39 M5 has a water leak on the driver side rear door which i just discovered, floor was flooded with water behind driver seat!!!!! I sucked out a good gallon of water with the shop vac. I’m so pissed.

  11. Maxy Milan Sorée

    When the server went offline.
I was driving single in a lobby.
The entire track disappeared and i could drive away from the track, but i got resetted i a split second!

  12. Rob Johnson

I’m in MST and it’s offline for me. I can’t wait to get the Silvia, Skyline and RX7. I’ve been waiting for the Silvia and RX7 to show up in the UCD for awhile and have had no luck.

  13. You sure?

Is the mercedes C9 available? I’ve been going through all the damn used car dealership and never found it! Finally…

    1. RoadRunner99

      Keep faith…
Official pages (GT and PSN) say it’s today:

September 8, 2011, between 10:00AM and 6:00PM EST (convert to your time zone)

  14. Brettjr

Online “USED?” car dealership? All cars are standard in the used dealership and the online used dealership even if there’s a premium version of the car will that be the case with this Mercedes-Benz one?

    1. Obi

Gah, I thought it might happen! Just bought my pride and joy, the Sauber Mercedes C9 and now it’s half price! Ah well :)

  16. cliffatron

Does anyone know if all of these updates are minor fixes or if one is possibly this famed major update that I have heard so much about like endurance race saves?

  17. BlindZenDriver

I’m pretty sure I have every Merc know to man so an OCD focusing on them leaves me cold. But for those that don’t it means some sweet cars and likely at bargain prices as well (Hint – that Evo one drives really nice).

PS. Someone please post the OCD list. I would if I was near my PS3.

  18. EpyonB16

If you are good then Monaco should be a peice of cake and remember you’re only going to drift certain sections not the whole track :)

  19. M8h3r

Wait, do they are expecting us to drift round Monaco? Isn’t it a bit tight for that. I sometimes clip the walls just cruising around it.

    1. FlareKR

Have you seen Long Beach, it’s about the same width.
Apart from that there are many togue locations that are even tighter than Monaco and are just one lane. If you have skill, you can do it, if you can’t, don’t.

    2. SKOT Free

Actually it’s a pretty good course for drifting and I got gold first time out. At first I didn’t remember the Lay out but then I remembered we used to Kart Race on that track full throttle so it all came back to me…..I didn’t like the Daytona Road course though.
