PAL Sales Charts Week 4 2018: GT Sport Hits Fine Form, Forza Falls Behind

The sales chart for the past week in UK games retail is showing a strong performance for GT Sport. After having a slow start to the year, the title’s consistency is pushing it back into the limelight.

Two new titles debuted last week with Monster Hunter: World and Dragonball FighterZ taking first and second place respectively. On the racing game front, it’s a quieter week than usual. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe continues to be the best performer generally speaking but realistic racing games had a tough ride this past week.

Polyphony Digital’s latest GT title sits in 13th place, jumping a further five spots from the previous week. Interestingly enough, this spike in sales coincides with last week’s big 1.11 update. Whilst it can’t be confirmed for certain this had an impact, it’s highly likely that the promise of new content put the game in customer minds. We have a hunch that Polyphony finally adding a premium Supra was the key to the success last week.

Tailing close behind GT Sport in 15th is the continuously popular Forza Horizon 3. Whilst fellow Forza title Forza Motorsport 7 has disappeared from the top 40, FH3 is still going strong. The Xbox One S must still be selling pretty strongly in the region, since Horizon 3 is quite often an inclusion in most bundles. Even still, as far as an evergreen title goes in the racing genre, you’d be hard pressed to make a case for anything other than FH3 in the UK.

With just two titles in the top 40, the presence of Need For Speed Payback and FM7 is sorely missed. At least those in the chart did place pretty high up.
