Project CARS 2 Gameplay Video Blowout

We’re now barely two months out from Project CARS 2’s September 22 release. To keep the pre-release hype on boil, Slightly Mad Studios has eased the limitations on shared videos from the community. With the floodgates open, we’ve combed through all the footage and found what we think are the best.

The five videos we’ve selected cover just a sliver of what SMS is promising for PCARS2. The game will feature 189 cars (check the full list here) and 60 tracks (ditto). Those numbers are set to grow too, with the game’s post-release support plan detailed.

You’re here for the videos though, so let’s get to them.

Up first is a one-make race around modern day Silverstone in the Ferrari F50 GT. The Italian marque is a new addition to the franchise, and this fine-sounding V12 monster is one of ten Prancing Horses included in PCARS2.

The Nürburgring is a daunting enough place in any racing sim. So what happens when you add snow? This video has the relatively tame Mitsubishi Evo tackling a lightly-dusted ‘Ring, and it looks… slippery, as you’d expect. The opportunity to have this experience doesn’t come up often: we can’t help but think of Project Gotham Racing 4, the last game we can remember giving us a wintry Green Hell.

Speaking of rare opportunities, surely taking a modern IndyCar around a snowy oval ranks up there? Just look at that visibility!

The Toyota GT-One offers its own visibility problems, but the ’90s racer certainly has its fans. It’s the star of the next video, clashing with other racers of the era around Daytona’s road course. This video goes full VR too, which adds another layer of immersion. For the time being, only PC players will have the virtual reality option available to them. SMS hasn’t completely ruled out PSVR implementation yet — hopefully console players get a chance too.

While all the other videos focus on fairly modern metal, this last one winds the clocks back a bit more. One of the more surprising additions to PCARS2’s sprawling track list is the historic version of Spa-Francorchamps. You think the current track is a high speed affair? Just watch this Ferrari 330 P4 complete one lap around this 8.7-mile classic.
