Sony Takes Your Questions About Gran Turismo 5

Sony’s showing off GT5 and several other big upcoming titles at a private media event on Tuesday night, and one of the editors of the company’s official PlayStation Blog has opened the floor for questions. From his post:

I can’t promise I’ll be able to get an answer for every one of your burning questions, but I will have hands-on access to most of the games on display as well as opportunities to ask producers and developers directly. Your questions will inform an upcoming series of blog posts that will drill deeper into each game’s features.

There is very little chance anything significant will be revealed or announced here, but any opportunity to hound them with questions can’t be missed. Head over to the post’s comment section and fire away.

Thanks to all who sent this in!

  1. Forza IS BETTER

I thing GT5 will let down a lot of people. If it doesn’t even have cockpit view for standard cars then its pretty stupid. I think they are just making money off of you guys and it won’t even be that good. Everybody says GT5 has more cars. You don’t need hundreds of cars you never use. Why not cut back on cars and improve gameplay. They are realistic and plentiful with cars BUT they don’t got all the real driving physics Forza 3 has. GT5 TALKS THE TALK BUT DOESN’T WALK THE WALK LIKE FORZA 3

    1. Yui-San

Honestly, who cares about cockpit view? I mean, I’d rather have 200 very accurate and detailed cockpits than have 400 roughly made cockpits (FM3…. And who’s the one making money? Who’s the one leaving out various cars, and then releasing them all in DLCs (GT5P’s DLC; Spec III; was free)after release, and accepting all the money from the manufactures? Its T10, not PD.

And about the physics, try switching to professional next time you play ;) Standard is for novice. Forza 3 might Walk the Walk (whatever that means), but it surely doesn’t drive the way GT5 drives. “You feel it when you drive it” :)

  2. DaveTheStalker

Could care less about cockpit view unless the camera is adjustable. 80% of the screen should be THE ROAD, not the other way around.

  3. XxTh3_St1gxX

I’m going to make a very valid point… how many Skyline GT-R R34s do you think will be in the game… Every one of them will have interior view… so of our 200 premium cars, how many will be Skylines?

  4. Hypp

Why people keep on saying there will be no cockpit for standard cars. It’s stupid. On the Prologue all has cockpits then GT5 the real game no? That’s impossible I bet. Someone even said we need driver’s license to play GT5. that made me laugh so hard. lmaoo common sense.

  5. BS

Or mabey they just think we’re all too stupid to realize that damaged cars sometimes need to go to mechanics before they’ll run….

  6. iced16

One simple question… didnt try it on prologue since i still dont have g25 but i would like to know will car be able to stall? and how do we start it up again?

    1. GasolineJunkie

I saw an interview with that guy Chris who seems to dodge every question where he said cars will not stop running no matter what.

He said no matter how much damage they consume, the manufacturers did not want to see their cars stop running.

    2. BS

I find myself believing that every time they blame something on the manufacturers, I buy it even less. True, not all games have officially liscensed cars, but I am pretty sure that of those that do, there are cars that get damaged or fail to run. Even if they arn’t liscensed, I don’t exactly hear any car companies complaining.

    3. GasolineJunkie

Hey, I hear ya. I think it’s pretty absurd that a car can flip over and still be able to run.

  7. meh

    ^^^ Talk about huge confusion.

Shouldn’t the questions be answered by now?
It’s Wednesday Night in Australia now so I’d think it was past Tuesday Night in, wherever these questions are being answered..

    1. Sony

Ummm, errrr, ahhhh, We at Sony regret to announce that tuesday has just been postponed untill 2015. We’re going to add scratch n’ sniff support in preperation for our new line of self overflowing digital VR toilets.

    2. it's wensday in NYC also....

Yes, it was last night in New York, but unfortunately, the blogger was taking questions about a number of games besides GT5, and I get the impression the awnsers will trickle out over a series of future articles. So basically we’ll hear what they want us to hear, when they want us to hear it, just has if this event had never been posted yesterday…

    3. Niko

      Talk about huge confusion,ok.

      800 standard cars,cockipt view?Yes/no?I say NO.
How many tracks?Old tracks?Wrc tracks only one Toscana?
      Dynamic weather system offical?No.
      Standard cars/800!/offical screens?Video only 0:43 sec.GT4HD quality.

      Tracks visuals:GT5P London,,Eiger-Nordwand its cool 3D spectators/2007./and 16 cars in race.

      GT5 2010.Rome,Madrid,Tokyo spectators?Nothing,and only 8 cars in race!Answer why?Thanks.5 1/2 years waiting this game,nothing clear information only confusion.Ok,premium cars visuals/200+/amazing,but tracks and standard cars i think no:(

  8. Niko

    I think,old tracks no GT5.Maybe its true,only 20 tracks and many variations.More tracks DLC.

3 months release, and zero info all tracks and standard/premium car list.

    Visuals:GT5P London,Eiger-Nordwand cool 3D spectators!

    GT5:Rome,Madrid,Tokyo NOTHING!Why PD??

    This game huge confusion.

    1. Sony

We’re 90% percent ready to announce the next delay, at any time, and now in 3d.*

*3d only supported in premium delay packages. Standard delay only features unclear and badly translated mutterings.

  9. J.B.

My question that I submitted…. There is a great website called GTPlanet.com, but there is a guy named Lilmann79 (I think he has a complex) that is a giant douche bag that acts like he knows everything and feels the need to repeat the same exact thing over and over again.

Is he a Sony employee? If so, why did you hire such an ass? If he’s not an employee, why is he trying to act like one? Thanks!

    1. Sony

We’re really sorry. We hadn’t realized he’d gotten out of the cage again.
He’s not really an employee. More like a test dummy and court jester.

    2. Kaz at Polyphony Digital

      TRANSLATED TO ENGLISH:

Clap! Many apologies. We are, we should be after the lock left open lilman79 done playing with yesterday. But we will not let us use his brain waves, I want to thank Sony’s Gran Turismo 3 Tureesmo one of our models have 1 AI.
Even if you throw him to the wall, it is great. He slowly rolled back on the floor and then sticks. This is really fun. If you get a chance, please try everything.
Well, just had a new mode of GT’s …..

    3. GasolineJunkie

That is the best question I’ve seen so far! I even challenged one of his comments but havent heard back yet… What a terd.

  10. boss33

Well, that`s true, i`ve just had a thought, that there could, be a car paint design editor, mean, as there using standard cars, You could as in (Life For Speed)(Pc Game) design your own racing team, names, and paint designs. it would be good, when watching your friends replays or watching a game live. as well as chosing your camera angles, you could pick front passengers seat or back passengers seat, probably you culd even have four people in the car, and when you pit you`ll actully be able to change driver or passenger.

  11. jay-KIRB

Im a huge drifting fan. Ill be getting this to drift online with others. Are the tire squeal going to be the same as all the previous games? I love GT but the tire sounds are cheesy.

  12. crazycrash031

Will we be able to save the game progress during an endurance race, turn off the console and then continue from where we had stopped?

    1. Bernd

No, you couldn’t in GT3 and GT4. Endurance is endurance, if you don’t have the stamina, you don’t deserve the prize.
      Easy as that :-P

    2. Nemesis

@Bernd: Lets take the 24 hour of Le Mans for example. Most people don’t have time to play a game 24 hours straight. You know things like work, a wife, kids a life basically.

So being able to save while in the pits while driving an endurance race longer than say 2 hours for instance would be a good option.

  13. Gran Turismo Vet

WILL STANDARD CARS HAVE INTERIOR VIEW??? I`ve watched all the interviews so far, no one has asked for that, why, WHY!?

  14. LoneWanderer

I at least want to know if Aston Martins are included in the game. That dissappointed me about GTPSP.

    1. kp

Aston WAS noticeably lacking in GTPSP, but since it was in Prologue, I think were good. Hopefully it will be more than just the DB9 Coupe though!

  15. smoke1485

To add to rpr101’s comment about race mods…when you purchase it would be sweet if they put the body inwhite. And the you could add sponsors and all

  16. HugoStiglitz_420

to all those saying “I don’t care about cockpits”, be quiet. we’re sick of hearing stuff like that. It’s a huge step backward & even if we don’t use the view, 99% of us would like to see it on all cars. It’s completely rediculous to be ok with something like that . If Forza can 400 FULL cars why can’t gt5 equal that? they’ve wasted time on who knows what instead of getting the most basic feature right, the cars. there are so many pointless cars in the game but the fact that they’re half cars isn’t right after all this time

    1. funrun

Relax, Gran Turismo will be superior to Forza in many other areas, just because you can’t get every cars interior modeling doesn’t mean Forza is better. This game will be 10x more professional than anything else including other PC sims. And having a huge variety of cars (yes even the small everyday cars) that you call pointless, is what makes GT what it is.

    2. Marcus

i agree i mean they will have 8000 nissans when they memory on the blu ray and the resources used could have went into more interiors. i wouldn’t mind just 500 cars if they were carefully selected and all were ‘ premium’

    3. lilmann73

Exactly. Where else can you race a Bentley Speed 8 at Le Sarthe, and immediately after race a Mini around Paris? It’s about the variety.

    4. HugoStiglitz_420

well it’s not small cars or random cars that bug me at all, I love that. It’s all the cars like skylines, lancers, etc that not only have the key models but also literally EVERY MODEL OF THAT CAR EVER MADE!!!!! LOL or the fact that so many NASCARS are going to be premium & some supercars probably won’t. GT5 will blow away the next 3 or 4 forzas if they’re made, but skipping something so basic as having complete cars makes some of the games other features /cars a waste. I’d even wait a month for another few hundred cars to be done gt5p style. but mainly, to dismiss the cockpits as no biggie is totally biased and selfish & I don’t wanna hear it

    5. HugoStiglitz_420

@M.Rossi good point. The interiors of the premium cars do look absolutely insane. They look clearer and more vibrant than the real pictures of the cars lol

    6. BudleyStoanes

what about us people who are sick of hearing about cockpit views? we dont get a say, yet YOU in all your might and wisdom DO? it is not completely rediculous to be ok with not having cockpit views since i dont use it at all! and before you accuse me of not being a GT fan, and liking forza or something like that, i will inform you that i own every GT game released and love every one of them about as much as my own children, and another thing, ive never even played an xbox, and never intend to. By the sounds of it, Forza seems like a pretty sh*t game and sounds completely different to anything GT is trying to do. Get off PD’s back and just be happy with what you get instead of whinging constantly because its not gunna have exactly what you want featured in it. They are going to ALOT of trouble to bring us a great game and all i see most people doing is whinging and moaning because they dont have a clear answer on cockpit views…here is an idea, it may sound completely far fetched and unreasonable…but you could possibly wait a few months and when you have the game in your PS3, appreciate it for what it is instead of picking it apart. It frustrates the hell outta me to see so many posts on here relating to the cockpit views and standard and premium cars. The game will be mindblowing no matter what they put in it or what they leave out, just be happy they are going to the effort for you and everyone else hangin out for it.

    7. BudleyStoanes

@hugo..how is not being worried about cockpit views selfish? i always thought everyone was entitled to their own opinion…

  17. lez67

will there be cockpit views on all cars standard & premium, full track & cars list, more on weather & track editor & stunt mode, whats the chance of having british & world touring cars in the game & maybe some old cars such as ford escort mk1,mk2 & capri’s,cortina’s & some old vauxhalls, classics from years gone by

    1. lilmann73

      1. No cockpit in standard cars. Many times confirmed, even on US official GT website.
      2. Stunt arena is doing drifts, close calls with other cars, stopping 2 inches from a wall after traveling 150 mph. That kind of thing.
      3. If the cars were not in GT4 and aren’t from 7 years after it’s release, it won’t be in GT5.

    2. funrun

Your 3rd point, I don’t know how you could know this and honestly hope they have made a few additions of older classics (mainly European). Are you a Sony insider?

    3. lilmann73

It just makes sense. Since GT4’s release, they’ve been working on cars from not too long ago, so I presume anything from the year 2000 and up will be the only thing they’ve been working on so far.

    4. GasolineJunkie

      lilmann73
you say that if it wasn’t in gt4 or newer than 2000, it won’t be in. What about the Countach?

Why are you making your assumptions sound like fact?

  18. In From Behind

Will you be able to paint every car with pink colours?
And can we customize the gearshifter, pedals, and have things like tv screens in our car?

  19. ner0_sol

i want to will production cars will have the ability to be traansformed into race cars.. which means gutted out interiors being able to see the role cage .. race dials… u no the works

  20. Maruf

Some of the trees in some locations don’t look right to me. They seem quite inconsistent and distracting. For example, the trees in nurburgring look good enough but those in Rome look quite bad to be honest. The game is looking incredible but will PD make the trees look better? Also wil the premium cars will have more life like sound than standard cars and will there be cockpit view for the standard cars?

    1. Marcus

well it says there are only twenty tracks most of which have been shown so its unikely. I think we really need more real life tracks before they can even think about making more ‘original’ tracks

    1. XxTh3_St1gxX

well… the amount confirmed are not enough. there are too many classic GT Tracks in this games past to just void them from the game. and don’t forget great circuits such as Laguna Seca Raceway and Seattle Circuit and Infeon Raceway

  21. waynz

Are they going to have proper double file starts? Or are they going to persist with the single file horrid starts that has plagued previous versions?

  22. Wiretap

This is what it says on the Playstation Blog…..

“Gran Turismo 5: Hands-on with a variety of tracks and vehicles in the game, including 3D support and the GT racing sled.”

What the hell is the GT racing sled? lol

    1. lilmann73

You’re first game license test is doing a downhill slalom in a sled plastered with the GT emblem.

Obviously you have not been paying attention recently.

    2. baubry

I noticed that as well. GT branded cockpit shipping with the “edition ultime”? One can only hope.

    1. Marcus

ha ha ‘i am not going to answer that’ idiot. I would much prefer amphibious cars like tgs toybota

  23. 999999

as a big fan of gt5 only to question and please reply

    1.skidmarks/tire marks

2.rotational camera while playing same as forza

    and please reply

  24. Niko

    This good questions!/One GT fan/

    Lots of questions about GT5.

What’s up with the “Standard” cars? Will They have cockpits or not?
How many tracks will be in the game? What about Grand Valley, Deep Forest, Special Stage Route 5 or 11, Autumn Ring or Apricot Hill? What about real tracks like Spa-Francochamps, Laguna Seca, Suzuka, Twin Ring Motegi or all the other tracks featured in the weather section in the My Page of GT5:P?
What about Livery Editor, More Ferraris or Lamborghinis (or just new cars in general), WRC, NASCAR, GT Auto, Quick Tune, or Used Cars?

I can go on and on, but that’s all i can think of at this point.

    Thanks!

    BUT NOTHING ANSWER!!NOTHING!

    Sony!F@ck little big planet 2!

    1. lilmann73

Standard cars, no cockpit views. Says so in GT’s official US website.
Tracks: maybe SS5, but more than likely many more than GT4.
Livery editor: Probably not possible with standard and premiums different textures.
NASCAR: All sprint cup cars can be driven on every track
GT Auto: Much like GT4s, except car wash actually does something.
Ferrari/Lamborghini: You have seen all of them that there will be in the gameplay videos.
      Quick tune: Yes.
      Used cars: Yes.

    2. Nemesis

Tracks: There is a forum topic on this site with the track list as is known at the moment.

@lilmann73: Mate please stop posting that bogus statement about the cockpits each opprtunity you get. Why would that be a limiting factor for the livory editor? Where did you find the information about which ferrari and lambos will be in, that GTAuto is the same as in GT4 and quick tune will be possible?

  25. boss33

Really, want to know if you can play your own music, and if there`ll be DLC new place`s, as tracks, and some uneven roads, and if mud stains the cars,

  26. robert

I just want to know 1 simple thing, yes we have got the ability to listen to our own music but we will get to hear moon over the castle because thats 1 tune i never get tired off hearing

    1. lilmann73

You just answered your own question.
You can play your own music.
Moon over the castle can be in: Your music.

  27. Vince_Fiero

Do not seem to be able to post on the US Blog, so if anyone can steal my ideas please:

Some more light on which will be the Premium cars?
Which drivers are modeled? (Loeb, …)
What will be the gaming strategy in GT5 (Licences, Practice, …)?
What race series have already contracts to provide: “Gran Turismo Data Logger Visualization” data?
Did you also foresee life “Gran Turismo Data Logger Visualization”?
Will you be able to exchange “edited” tracks, race on them online with others?
Any evolution in the way Ghost cars work in the Gran Turismo Series?
Some idea if there are updates foreseen: More cars later, more drivers, more tracks,…. payable download content?

  28. Skillcoil

    Ok, in caps

SOUNDS, SOUNDS and SOUNDS. It’s where GT5 lose. We really need an answer about SOUNDS.

    1. Joe ma pangpang

SOUND AND CUSTOMIZATION thats why i play Forza now. I might not look as crisp but it is What Gt5 Should be.

  29. FES

    -official tracklist
    -official car list
-solid confirmation on whether we have cockpits in standarts ar not. that`s easy!

    enough beating about the bush

    1. lilmann73

Standard does not have cockpit view. Been confirmed numerous times, even on the official US and JP websites.

  30. Rob

Hi , Erm, Due to playstation Move integration that nobody really cares about yet , and 3D which nobody can afford , GT5 has been delayed until the end of the worldddd .

  31. Marcus

three questions. The first rather typically is for them to clear up all the stupid cockpit stuff. The second is what do they plan to do with the wrc license. Are all cars included like ken block and will there be proper rally stages or just the stupid courses they’ve been using up to now. And finally if there really is only 20 tracks what do they plan to do with dlc.

    1. lilmann73

      Answer your first question:
STANDARD CARS DO NOT HAVE COCKPIT VIEW! IT HAS BEEN CONFIRMED ON GT’S OFFICIAL US WEBSITE!

    2. Marcus

and yet 1 week after that post another website said they confirmed with pd that the standard cars do have cockpits. Can you understand my unwillingness to write anything in stone

    3. lilmann73

      Lets see…
Gran Turismo’s official website made by PD themselves, or
yet another one of those websites that just tries to make news.

      Tough call.

  32. Big Ron

    Two questions:

Which cars will hav cokpit view? Just the premium cars or will the standard car will also have a (simplyfied) cockpit view?

Will there be DLC for more premium cars?

    1. Big Ron

not really…there are (too) many different statements. And another problem is the wrong translation from Japanese to english in some points.

    2. Nemesis

@lilmann73: please read my statement above. There is no clear answer from which you can deduct this.

  33. leiwei

I hope they give a definitive answer for the # of cars available per race per track. Nascar wouldn’t be nascar if there’re only 8 cars going at it.

  34. whatis

    Thanks for the heads up.

Even though all we’ll probably get is answers to questions that have already been asked (aka pre-approved), it makes me feel better just being able to ask my hard-hitting questions someplace that Sony might hear them.

The more they hear the in-depth and direct questions that the GT enthusiasts are asking, the more pressure we put on them to perhaps include some of this stuff.

Or at least not to forget about or neglect the things that might seem small to them – things like being able to turn off the heads-up display during a race and rely on cockpit view information only, for example.

    1. Vulcao

PD is already aware of the things fans are asking for. I’m sure they check it on forums and websites like GTPlanet.

  35. SuperTron X

Um, what is the official car list, and yah are there interiors for all of the cars?

I’d like to see open world mode, too.

  36. Narly

Maybe someone should for at least at once ask for the car sounds? :D it isn’t that much of a deal but we “like i said 100000000x times” all know how GT performs in engine sounds :D VAAACUUUUUUUMMMMM :D

    1. Joe ma pangpang

+1 I agree with you on that if you compare it too Forza 3 or even 2 the carsounds where amazing.

      Also the magic word CUSTUMISATION!!

  37. ALYX

Ask about how much polygons has a standart cars. If they has a 20+ then we have nothing to worry about))))

  38. WonkyFonk

I would like to see a full track list – they must all be at least partially modelled at this stage. Am I finally going to get to race Silverstone, Monza, Spa, Interlagos? How will flags be displayed – arcady (spl?) display, or marshalls waving flags?
Will we have the choice to use a clutch on the DS – unfortunalely I have no space for a driving wheel :(
Can they tell us why the majority of online Ford GT drivers are cheating wombles?

    1. Nemesis

I agree a full track list would be top of the list as wel. Preferably grouped by area.

It would be nice to have marshalls with falgs around the track.

How would you use a clutch on the DS?

    2. WonkyFonk

I used a clutch on Toca race driver a few years back. R2 = gear up, R1 = gear down, L1 = clutch. Sure there is the on/off factor compared to modulated but it still added to the realism!

    3. WonkyFonk

We may as well go all out and include medical helicopters, grid girls and mopeds to review the track prior to practice ;)

    1. Geo_212

The physics are probably my biggest concern… Then damage and cockpits. We don’t necessarily *need* the cockpit view on every car. The bumper camera view is just as good, IMO, just not as flashy. Haha

    1. Maxiboy

Haha if they could have Porsche at all wouldnt they just add it to the game in the first place? I mean think … did you think that they just didnt add Porsche because they didnt want to?

    2. Nemesis

@Maxiboy: Actually I don’t think this is such a stupid question. If there will DLC it stands to reason that they can add a new manufacturer to the list. So if they get the license to incorporate Porsche that would definitely be possible.

I do agree with you that it’s highly unlikely that they’ll get the license. However I’ve seen far stupider questions floating around.

    3. Maruf

I dont care for Porsche but I do want Porsche 917 and 956. I hope the made those two as premium cars for the game. Will you PD?

  39. Zenith013

I hope I don’t see a million “premium vs. standard cockpit” questions by idiots in denial.

    1. P37Mac

Not sure about the ‘idiots in denial’ lol, it’s just something a lot of people want cleared up due to lack of a straight answer.

  40. REDLIONRACING

2 Major things for me. How customizable are the exterior graphics (IE paint, vinals) & 2 can we do motor swapping? Kaz said the game wud b perfect, for me (A hardcore GT fan since the 1st one) without those two features it will fall short.

  41. Nick

I asked about to what extent the Nascar and WRC licenses will be taken with tracks, especially point-to-point and championship.

    1. Marcus

yeah i really want proper rally stages to. More realistic to race between trees than two flimsy yet somehow very strong fences

  42. G

Just want to know if there is a livery editor and if so what levels of creation are we talking… simple question really

  43. RandomUsername

I don’t have a PlayStation Network account so i can’t post there, so can someone please ask if all standard cars(from GT4) will have updated physics and handling, or will they drive just like in GT4?

  44. KilzoneStrife

And by ‘dodgimg’ the interior question,I mean I wanna hear them grab a megaphone and scream it loud,or ask Kaz to say give an answer in japanese, then english, then maybe all the languages in Europe and Africa, then I’ll be satisfied

  45. Maxiboy

ALL release dates not just NA! I NEED to know when to take time off work. By the way everyone my life is officially consumed with GT5 … had a dream I was playing last night :(

  46. KilzoneStrife

can we ROFLMAO if they dodge the good ol’ interior question.make my day PD,tell me we can customise a generic interior on standards.and paint their exteriors with vinyls, decals etc.

    1. Joe ma pangpang

CAN WE CUSTUMIZE LIKE IN FORZA??? LIVERY EDITER? BODYKITS, DRIVETRAIN SWAPS, 4WHEEL DRIVE CONVERSION? ECT?????????????????????????????

      MUCHOS IMPORTANTES!!!!!

  47. Chris

I’d like to know when we can expect to see an OFFICIAL car list! I wanna know of if the DeLorean will be making an appearance.

  48. nelloc1

well if anything some rally footage on a track other than toscana or w/e its called i am still hoping rally wont be as sterile like in gt4

  49. funrun

For sure the release date for Europe will be a burning question and if they can’t answer that, it would be very strange and also if they will release an EU collectors edition.

    1. funrun

No, that information was essentially from one single source on a french playstation website. There has been no official announcement, so that’s not the most reliable piece of information. Maybe it’s true, maybe it’s not, but if they can’t answer that question then I’d be surprised.

  50. R1600Turbo

Umm, I don’t care about cockpits, so I would ask about weather and/or how many NASCAR tracks are making into the game.

    1. Nemesis

@porsche 9246: Could you provide the source to backup tha claim. All I’ve read up till now is inconclusive.

    2. GasolineJunkie

The discussion is not ended. Scroll down. It is constantly coming up. This means that it is important, btw.

    3. Nemesis

@Vulcano, Lilmann73: I saw that page. As I’ve stated many times before the US page is the only containing this information.

Furthermore the statement can be interpreted in many ways. It just state that they don’t have a interior view. As we know premium cars have fully modelled interiors not just the dash. So this could be interpreted as meaning that the standard cars do not have a modelled interior view but just the dash.

  51. Iron Maiden

Maybe someone will ask about the cockpit view for standard cars, as I believe the information we have so far about this is still unclear… read: information lost in translation

  52. Z06onGT5

Yeah I think everyone is going to ask one question and its the most important one…diffrences of cockpit view for standard and premium cars…

    1. P37Mac

Yeah that would be my favourate thing to get cleared up too. Unfortunatly all I think we will get out of this is a master class in dodging bullets.

    2. smthrlr

@ P37Mac: Almost fully agree, except with the “master class in dodging bullets” thing. You don’t need to be a master to be able to say what whats-his-face was saying in the racesimcentral interview at E3: “Again. We are not prepared to answer that question at this time.”

What I don’t understand is why PD is even bothering with this, knowing full well that every question that’s going to be asked has been asked a zillion times before, and left unanswered an equal zillion times.

    3. BudleyStoanes

i believe im part of “everyone” and i dont give two turds about cockpit views…though it will be good to get it cleared up so its not the only thing i ever have to read about on here. I just wanna see the game! November cant come soon enough!!!

  53. RAugie

hmm sounds interesting…. I would rather just wait for the release and have everything be a surprise!

    1. danielwhite74

Unless someone travels back in time and models interiors for the vehicles in Gran Turismo 4 and PSP, not a chance. ;)

    1. caasimun

XD yaaay, one burning question i have…exactly how will we be uploading replay to youtube! uploading a 1080p replay takes forever, unless we are saving the replay on the harddisk then uploading it ourselves?

    2. Nemesis

A technical posibility would be that you upload the replay telemitry to a rendering server. Which renders the replay in 1080p and then posts it on youtube.

    3. aelange

caasimun, what I think he means is your PS3 will save the car data and conditions in a small file, that is, where the cars were on the tracks and any steering inputs. Then a seperate server will take that info from you and render a video with their own systems and upload it for you. Possibly, if that’s the case I would assume you edit your reply first and then create it…

    4. racingchamp30

I was wondering, since windshield wipers never have been in the past gran turismo games, will there be working windshield wipers back and forth if the game has full weather conditions like falling rain or snow?

    5. Nemesis

@Caasimun: Sorry might have been to technical. See the post made by aelange.

@Aelange: Yep that’s the jist of it.

    6. ZinoCharlize

@ Caasimun How can we be sure GT5 will be in 1080p when it is coming in 3D? Therefore I’d like to ask if they are willing to confirm if it is coming in real 1080p. So no tricks like upscaling or using the detail of a 720i resolution and masking smudging it into 1080p. I have a 6000 euro’s tv waiting for sony to live up to their statements that u need full hd for the best gaming experience so yes this is an important question for me and I guess many others.
I also wonder if it will be able to drive of clifs. Remember how lame it was in GT4 that you couldn’t drive of the grand canyon? It will be soo lame if we again will be held back by some red-white tape between a couple of sticks.
