DiRT Rally 2.0 players could win a trip to Washington for a rally school lesson from Oliver Solberg, in a new competition that starts today.

From the makers of rbr-online.it, gRally is a work-in-progress racing simulator that has been in development for over six years. Now, the eight-man indie team hopes to make it big with a Steam Greenlight listing, following their “#DreamExperienceBelieve” slogan.

It’s been a big week over at Codemasters HQ. Since the reveal of DiRT 4, the information has been trickling in about the title and what we can expect so far when the latest entry in the series lands in June. The world of iRacing has had a good start to 2017. The beautiful Australian plains of Forza Horizon 3 got all wrapped in snow and ice as Turn 10’s new Blizzard Mountain Expansion kicked off last week. In a game designed for online competition, the announcement of rally racing in Gran Turismo Sport came as a bit of a surprise. Although rally first appeared in Gran Turismo 2 — and has introduced real-world rally champions to the sport — off-road racing has always felt like a bit of an afterthought in GT games.

We all remember Fishermans Ranch dirt track, don’t we? Doubtlessly it was one of the main highlights this past August at Gamescom, as Polyphony gave a name to one of the dirt tracks set to appear in GT Sport. Being part of the series since the earliest days, this racing domain will play an important role in GT Sport’s diversity. The DiRT series has had a bit of a checkered history. From the first game’s rallying roots, to the ‘xtreme’ era pandering of DiRT 3, and finally the game that brought the series to a lasting hiatus – DiRT Showdown. To say that the series has a split fanbase would be an understatement.
