Gran Turismo 5 Front & Center in Sony’s TGS Booth
September 23rd, 2009 by Jordan
Just as Mercedes-Benz told us, their new SLS AMG is on hand to represent GT5 at the Tokyo Game Show. 1UP.com offers this sneak peek at the show floor, and it looks like our favorite racing game is taking center stage at Sony’s massive booth. It’s hard to see much else behind the big display, but it’s a safe bet there’s a few PS3’s loaded up with a fresh new demo of the game hiding back there.
I’d also like to remind you about the updated press conference time – as it turns out, the 10:30 AM (Tokyo time) is when Sony Computer Entertainment’s CEO Kaz Hirai gives his keynote address, and GT5 news from that is unlikely. Sony’s full press conference won’t begin until a few hours later (1:30 PM Tokyo time), when there is a much better chance of Kazunori Yamauchi taking the stage. I’ve updated my original post accordingly, so please take a second look at it to calculate the new time of the presentation in your local area.

Cruiz, as I explained in the post, the new time is for Sony’s Press Conference. You don’t have to take my word for it, though – here’s a post on G4TV which also clears things up.

Hey Jordan, I have a little question: Will you do a live-blog on Harai’s speech too?
September 23rd, 2009 at 4:52 pm
Yes, Alex, I will be covering both events – just in case. ;)
September 23rd, 2009 at 4:53 pm
@ Jordan
Sorry, I did not mean to sound as if I found your information to be incorrect.
It is just that this is the first I have heard of the change; I merely wanted to know where the info came from.
Thanks however :)
This means I can go to sleep for a while lol

September 23rd, 2009 at 6:10 pm
So I have heard alot of places say gt5 is coming out dec.29???
Is this true or false??
(even though I know it hasn’t been officially announced yet)
September 23rd, 2009 at 6:16 pm
1up should have filmed the GT5 booth.
September 23rd, 2009 at 6:20 pm
My money’s on Dec. 1st for release. It’s a Tuesday (the release day for boxed games), it allows plenty of shopping days before Christmas, follows the frenzy of USA Thanksgiving buying season and allows plenty of time to get the marketing hype in place and everybody all wound up to put a PS3 Slim and GT5 under the Christmas tree.
So December 1st it is! Watch and see.
