Gran Turismo 5 v1.07 Update Available Now

In a surprise GT5 update (v1.06 was released just one week ago), Polyphony Digital has made a few more tweaks to the game, including a fairly major revision to the car gifting/trading system. Here’s the official list of what v1.07 (a 47 MB download) contains:

[Major Changes and New Features]
Friend Rankings: In Drift Trials and Time Trials, you can now display leaderboards that shows only your friends. While it was difficult before to locate your friends in the general leaderboards, this now makes it easier to compare your lap times and points with them.

[Fixed Issues]
– Performance points (PP), which is an index of a car’s overall performance, is now calculated regardless of your tire selection. You can now set performance point restrictions and tire restrictions separately when you race in a lounge.
– Fixed the issue where the performance of electric cars increased/decreased after a certain amount of driving.
– Downloaded replays from Seasonal Event Rankings can now be viewed properly.

[Other Changes]
– Cars worth over 1,000,000 Cr. (including gift car coupons) are now prohibited from being traded to prevent issues during the trading process. When lending and borrowing cars between friends, please use the car loan system.

i do have a question about the gt5 academy cars? why the heck can you not trade them? they have no value and you can not buy them in a dealership. so why not let people trade them as they please!

  2. pudge

“LOL,I believe him because lots of us who bought up all the cheap cars first have about the same, in about the same time. You’ve only had the game for about 12, and you’re claiming even more.”

    You’re not paying attention …

  3. johncooper

I object to the restrictions put on this latest update. Particularly the million credit worth trading/gifting limit. We paid the full retail price for the game as originally advertised. Just give us what we paid for and let us play the way we want to.
Perhaps an option can be built into the game for the particular player to chose whether he/she can trade/gift/or play online?
Thanks PD for an otherwise awesome game.

    1. mcarter5372

I’m a little late to the party, but …

I couldn’t agree more. It’s all about what it’s always about … money. People were making money (off of something they paid for) on Ebay; and PD wasn’t getting any of that money. If there had been a way for PD to get a cut from every X1 sold on Ebay, we wouldn’t be having this discussion.

The problem is, people paid their hard-earned REAL money for this game; and they paid for the ability/freedom to “gift” any car they earned, be it prize or purchase. After they have taken our money, they are restricting this freedom. Is PD going to issue partial refunds to those who bought this game? They should. Can you say “class-action law suit”?

If they want to stop the sale of X1s on Ebay, simply make the X1 “ungiftable” … and ONLY the X1 … like they did the stealth cars. This taking back of something we paid for is highly unacceptable.

  4. why

they really should increase the credits, and x/p’s more.New tracks or some dlc tracks, cars, modd’s. Missing tracks from GT1,2,3,4.

  5. Foxiol

Wow…we fans of GT5 make this game the Real Bitching Simulator.
The game is not perfect i agree with that, but PD is trying to make this “BASE” game in a final “NEXT VERSION” and of course BETTER game. Yeah we waited to much for this and we are all not as happy as we think the game could do, but let the guys working on that at least for the next “step”. This is a concept of a game cause it is not finished at all and they are (step by step) trying to make changes and test it with us and watch how it looks like or if they make a good-one. (i mean with this update and more upcoming). Now we are playing in an online world and games are changing constantly.
Be patient people. One day GT series will be perfect for all…thats the problem…”for all”.

    1. K Then

Last I checked PD wasn’t working on the next version of EVERYTHING, but has soon has they get contracted to take on the complete redesign of all creation has their next project, we can debate that as well. While we wait for that to happen, we’ve got enough to talk about with GT5, so let’s just stick to that.
      Back on topic….
+1 Foxiol Here’s to the future.

  6. A Wolf

ajbangers we’re not even asking for comparing games, console wars are stupid and get the little kids rallied up.. For everyone thinking this limit is stupid, I don’t care either way, because the dupers brought this among themselves, maybe you shouldn’t have abused the game.

  7. WangansGodHand

PD needs to quit doing stupid updates like this, and focus on adding more tracks (LOCATIONS not variations) and cars, and upgrading standards to premiums.

  8. praggia

    Boring boring boring
More tracks is whats needed, preferably real world tracks.
GT original tracks are boring except for seattle, apricot hill, grindelwald oh wait those are not included in GT5. Epic fail too much time being spent on online add-ons. PD, GT life needs some serious CPR, no really.

  9. ^_^

Cars are NOT the problem. GT5 needs MORE TRACKS (Locations, not variations) and better payouts. The older GT’s had specific ways to get ALL cars, & the track selections kept things versatile (for a bit longer at least). But GT5’s tracks are stale, get redundant, & I’m bored with them… (scenery wise) The track editor is a case of a “same place, different turn” syndrome. The other GT’s held me over for years, but with Nurburgring, Trial Mt., Deep Forest, London, Tokyo Route 246, Special Stage Route 5, Laguna Seca, and others being my favorite, YET being in older GT’s, I feel like I did this ALL before & wanna drive somewhere new. The track generators are all set in barren fields, and the rest of the tracks lack depth. They’re lifeless, unanimated, no wind, moving clouds, bright lights, ambience, nothing. These things may seem miniscule, but you can find them in many up to date racers. GT4 had more tracks, such as Hong Kong, Las Vegas (Drag), NYC, Seattle, Cita Di Aria Seoul Central (Korea), & Citta Di Aria. It’s not the cars that are a problem, it’s making/keeping it fun to earn them. GT5 is too repetitions.

    1. Fair enough

That brings the intelligent post count for this article up to somewhere in the 20’s now I think. Just another 386 more posts like it, and mabey we’ll get somewhere…;)

    2. HKS racer

Talking about aspec career I agree with you when you say “It’s not the cars that are a problem, it’s making/keeping it fun to earn them. GT5 is too repetitions” GT4 career mode was better, much better to be honest. I definitely think about this game as an open source online racing game, this is where GT5 shine(if people learn to organize themself a bit)

    3. emeraldpython

Well put. Why would Kaz take out excellent tracks? I’m honestly getting very bored of Tsukuba and Nurburgring. There were so many excellent circuits in GT4 that were much better than GT5’s. And why didn’t Kaz integrate the OLD Rome Circuit and the OLD Chamonix circuit instead of the new ones? And why aren’t there enough rally tracks, I wonder? Whatever happened to all the Tahiti tracks (Road, Dirt Route 3/Circuit, and Maze)?

Please put those tracks back, Kaz. It’s not that hard if you are able to port standard cars from GT4.

    4. emeraldpython

The Career mode definitely needs more events and endurance races, as well as the one-make dealership races. And please, put most of the standard cars in the dealership; we don’t want to miss out on our favorite cars. And please let us make our own events to share with everyone!

I also wish that we can use standard cars in Photo Travel, no matter how “ugly” they look. Not to me, anyways.

    5. LoneWanderer

My problem is that with all the tracks PD could have selected, have you guys noticed that almost all tournaments have Grand Valley Speedway?

    6. emeraldpython

I’ve noticed that! Dang, I’ve gotten really bored of Grand Valley Speedway by now. How about a race for the never-used Special Stage Route 7?!

    7. - Ice of SZRT -

It’s what makes TDU2 so much fun, even with it’s crappy physics and small roster. Having so much road to drive. I’d give up 60% of the cars, hec’, I’d give up 70, in return for a more abundant/diverse track selection.

  10. Obli

Not including tyres in the PP system is a bad move.

If PP is set with no tyre restriction, you need Racing: Soft tyres for every car you might choose to be most competitive.

If PP is set with a tyre restriction, you need the best available tyre for every car you might choose to be most competitive.

Previously, if I didn’t have the best tyre available, I could choose a less grippy tyre but run with less weight / more power / more downforce to compensate.

I cannot understand the logic in excluding tyres from PP calculations.

    1. HKS racer

imho it’s better without tyres calculated. You just need to add tyre restriction together with pp limit in your room and that’s it. Car performances will be much closer and I don’t think pubblic lobbies is a good way to race online with GT5, you should start looking at “online racing section” of the forum and find some trusty people to race with. Or create your own event. GT5 is definitely an “open source” online racing game, you can create ALL the races you want, with an insane amount of cars available, and custom tracks too. People just need to organize them self better. I feel much better with this game after 1.07 patch.

    2. Obli

Organised GTP race series are great (I have competed before), but that is not the way most GT5 owners play the game. I just want to pick-up-and-play by joining a well-run public lobby or running my own with friends, without having to visit forums and make commitments.

    3. HKS racer

Sorry but this is not the way GT5 works at its best, pubblic lobbies often are just trash, organize races or championships could not be “pick up and play” but it’s much better and accurate. I think developer should consider to modify pubblic lobbies and give people “closed” events with proper rules and proper categiries.. i.e. 600pp racing hard tyers, only Super GT cars racing medium, only LM prototypes racing soft.. and things like that

    4. Obli

I agree that organised race meetings can result in some of the best racing, if it is serious racing you want. However, GT5 can not just cater for this type of race setup. We can’t expect all GT5 users to play this way. PD need to devise a means to allow all players to play the game in the way they wish toi play, and that like minded individuals can organise and meet up. Using the open lobby and some common sense when looking for a suitable lobby, along with racing with friends, I have had some great sessions.

  11. Antony Henley

Really some of you kiddies should grow up abit here. Its a game. Thats all it is and ever will be. I enjoy the game even with the 1,000000 + cr embargo (THATS CURRENTLY LIFTED UNTILL MARCH 3RD). In no way does it ruin the game one bit. Well it only ruins it if you are a fully fledged duper and cant be arsed to work for your cars. If you dont like it then please trade your game in and leave, your pitiful whining and excuses about every update are getting a tad boring and sterile.
Its a game nothing more nothing less, its not real life.

  12. mobiletone

i’m guessing PD knows who dupes so they should just mark the users name with a ‘cheat’ tag.

gifting is one thing, duping a dozen X2010s using multiple accounts is another. And is DOES effect other peoples games, legal users have driven hard earn enough to get their dream cars and hunted the OCD to find a rare model, which is then meaningless when you join an online race and everyone else has the exact same rare car.

thanks for ruining it for the rest of us legal drivers guys!

Earn your cars and credits the legit way or GTFO!

  13. dimbo01

Maybe PD is planning to bring out some new premium cars in the next update or so.

Than now is the moment to thighten the Car Gift-system…

I gues these new premiums would cost more than 1,000,000 Cr ;)

  14. Ferrari

POLYPHONY, NO ONE LIKES THE GIFTING SYSTEM
PLEASE LIFT ALL THE RESTRICTIONS INCLUDING THE 1 CAR/24 HOUR!
IT MAKES THIS GAME LOOK RETARDED!

  15. HRR2448

I’m glade that they put up this restriction. Its funny how the dupers are getting all mad that they can’t cheat the system anymore. Boo hoo… earn your cars like the rest of us.

  16. GT-PRO1

I think this thing with the 1 million credit trading block is a bunch of BS! What I think the people at Poly Phony Digital have done is make a awesome game and turned it into a piece of garbage. I mean come on, so what if some of us who play GT5 duplicate cars so that they have more. Just because we do this, does not mean that you have to put a cap on what car’s we can trade to others.

  17. bigphil

    Not a bad game.
Could be better, and there are other things I would’ve fixed before the gifting thing, but I really do enjoy the game.

  18. GT_God

I dont know why everyone is crying, you can still gift race cars, like the GT one. Just not premium cars that cost over 1,000,000.

So STFU and grind like the rest of us.

  19. Tvensky

I dont get it! why so many negative and bad comments here? after GTP gone popular so many unwanted visitors comment here BS. Im so disappointed and feel sad about you weird people!

  20. limitedslip92

    dont care what anyone say

i baught the game to race my friends not grind away my life and have my ps3 run non-stop BSPEC (lame)i PAID MY $60 f##k you PD thats the last $60 you get from me. the DRIVING is good but YOUR GAME SUCKS

    1. cupholder

Licked your wounds and came back to try you hand at trolling again did you? Yep, not gonna work today either.
On the plus side, now you’ll have more time to learn about things like periods and comas. Might want to trade in GT5 for a dictionary while your at it.

    2. limitedslip92

      @cupholder

a dictionary doesnt teach you periods and comas it teaches you meaning of the word and how to spell it but nice try

    3. Your kidding

Come to think of it, you won’t have a clue why I just said that, so let me explain periods.
They go at the ends of sentences to seperate them. Refer to to the following example:

“On the plus side, now you’ll have more time to learn about things like periods and comas. Might want to trade in GT5 for a dictionary while your at it.”

Note the small dot between the words “comas” and “Might”. That is a period.
In this case, it not only seperates two sentences, but it also seperates two ideas.
What that means is that cupholder did not tell you to learn about periods and commas from a dictionary. He told you to learn about puntuation (periods and commas), and then told you to learn to spell in a seperate sentence.
      And that’s how periods work…….

    4. limitedslip92

wow you have no life but to come on here and tell me to use a period in a forum omg go get laid it is a forum im not in school any more if i dont want to take the time to use a period i wont o wait i know what it is you cant understand it you are to slow ooops sorry for not using a period in this do i get an “F” for the day

    5. IT'S A BLOG

By all means, make an even bigger fool of yourself. Clueless brats like you never last long here anyway, so why not coninue to provide even more humiliation for yourself on your way to the ban list, assuming you haven’t allready been kicked from the actual forum already that is (this is just the news blog)……

    6. GTP_Rockerpanel

      +1 IT’S A BLOG
It’s always funny how the kiddies never realize that the rest of us always get the last word/laugh when they choose to go out this way.
Yah, out of his whole six posts on the forum, four are in a thread that appears to have been locked down from his making just these kinds of remarks. The other two border on spam. Deffinitely shouldn’t be long at all, lol.

  21. Greyum

They have officially ruined the game by taking away functionailty. Let people do what they want with their games and game saves. Who gives a **** what people do when they are effectively playing off-line? If you want to make it “fair”, put a setting in the on-line race options to only allow cars that were purchased or won by that account.

Having played the game to death anyway, it looks like Microsoft will be the machine to have. Anybody want a 250GB PS3 with GT5 and a few other games, totally free. Just leave your name, e-mail, address and contact number below and I’ll pick one at random.

    1. cupholder

Yah, uhhh, FAIL. Everyone allready knows all you do is troll here, so it just makes no sense to try anymore……

  22. dudejo

i thought this was America, land of the free?

so why the **** do we care about what other players do with their game?

it’s not like players are giving themselves unfair advantages during races.

it’s not like you see cars straight-out teleport all over the place. OR gain unnatural acceleration and grip while they spawn random obstacles in your path.

duping cars and trading them has NO negative effect on the game beyond making other players jealous. you can just set the appropriate restrictions to prevent those cars from coming in your game room.

although with that 50% auto engine tune form the last patches, it seems PD ain’t too good with customer service.

  23. BAMSE

Why on earth after this many updates havent they made it possible to change time/weather in offline mode? Jeeeez theyre completely out of touch!!

  24. LondonSW

Does anyone know if time trial leaderboards are going to come back from GT5 prologue?
I guess because of the large number of cars they have to set it up differently. Maybe they could based it on PP and a single tyre.

  25. doink

Hmm, just duped a car with my neighbor. So all these people complaining that you can’t do it anymore daft in the head or what?
I’d think dupers would have all the million and up cars already, but then again, they didn’t see the end coming, so prob didn’t have the brains to get while getting was good either.
    Bloody sad….

  26. ecarhat

I have never duplicated a car and do not care for it – but likewise I don’t mind if others do. I’ve never owned a Playstation but had fond memories of playing previous GT games so I bought my PS3 when GT5 was released.
    I enjoy the driving.
But there is just not enough of it.
Imagine A spec with triple the events, F1 events, Rally, Nascar races with 40 plus cars on the tracks, and special events built into each A spec tier (eg Nurburg time trials with different vehicles, one make championships)
How awesome would it be if each A spec tier was capped of by a super – hard special event with big money and/or prize cars?
If people out there actually found some way to enjoy the game outside its rather limited core experience (be that trading or duping) then good for them.
The best addition to the game IMHO were the very first Seasonal Specials.
They were difficult, but gave you a real sense of achievement when you finally beat them, and xp and credits to go with it. Why can’t A-spec be like this?
PD you have a good game on the verge of greatness – please focus the updates on incentivising the best part about the game and the reason most bought it in the first place – actually driving.

    1. barny0111

You said it man. Each to their own in regards to duping. But I agree totally, not enough decent A-spec races. Imagine having a real Zonda in your driveway and no where to go.

    2. Bernd

We’ll see NASCAR with something like 32 or maybe 40+ cars in GT6, I’m sure. It’s called evolution – and the competition with Forza will help even more.

  27. C-ZETA

I was due a Peugeot 905, a car I had wanted for ages, on the day of the update. Then the update showed up and now I can’t get it. Absolutely appalling.

  28. Steph290

At happy at least that they PD are keeping their word with the monthly updates, and are taking care of the minor issues that polish off the game as a whole. I want to believe that they’re working on the AI’s braking points and I’m still hoping to see a couple additions to the track list in the near future, as well as bringing back restrictions to the Seasonal Events. More challenge is all I ask.

  29. Let's See

So let me see if I’ve got this straight…
This website consists of only two kinds of people?

    Dupers.

And complete asshats, who’s holier than thou attitude means that no one else is allowed to have an opinion, that differs from their’s, or do anything in a different manner because this may detract from the way they choose to do things, and this is the criteria they use define the idea of a “true fan” versus people who should just “go away”.

    Nice.

    1. Let's not.

You forgot the main group. Idiot trolls, flamers, and spamers like yourself that think posting antagonistic crap will somehow sway the other side and/or gain support for dupers, when all it really does is provide another reason to laugh at the childish tantrums and rants.

    2. Let's See

And who exactly am I “trolling”?
It seems like everyone portrays each other in only one of two manners.

If one group doesn’t agree with the other group than they are a _________ (fill in the blank).

Am I “trolling”, or pointing out how people complaning about people complaining is not any better, than the initial complaining. Except that the initial “complaining” (read: voicing their opinion) was not directed squarely at another forum member.

This comminulty has turned in to a joke, with everyone so quick to point out how they think everyone who doesn’t agree with them is “wrong””. It seems like the only opinion half of the people around here have anymore, is whether or not other people have a right to voice their opinion, or be a GT fan, or whatever.

So you don’t agree with me? Fine, you’ll prove I’m right by trying to throw around internet “hate” words like troll or flame, just like others throw around fanboy and such. And this all helps to build such a wonderful, helpful, inviting, community doesn’t it?

    3. Shelby

If you really need to have it explained exactly how this would be considered trolling/flaming/spaming, your a bigger “@%%hat” than you seem to think the rest of us are. The givaway would be that you picked trolling out of a list he obviously ment to describe a large number of posts on this page, He could have just as well have been thinking of you has a spamer or someone flaming. Your acting like the wronged party now makes it even more amusing.

    4. Save Ferris

Ehhh, last night I was leaning towards it just being yet another bad flame attempt, but yes, now that you mention it, more like a troll with a flamethrower and bad aim……XD

  30. Sayba2th

You can please some of the people some of the time but not all of the people all of the time. The arguments here range from valid to wipe your chin you’re dribbling s@#t. But has provided me with some fantastic amusement. The one thing that’s killing me still is the lack of ability to save a game in progress ie endurance events of a championship in its midst.

  31. xxGREENHELLxx

I think PD needs to quit worring about ruining the fair trading that goes on between normal GT players and worring about truley more important issues with the game for instance the AI. Yeah I know the last update improved AI but honestly it’s gotten worse. I did the Nur 4hr today and every car I tried to pass would full brake as I am behind them going 150mph. And if your behind them in a corner they slow down alot upon exiting the corner. I thought your suppose to brake before the corner, not exiting it. Anyways there horible. And is it just more or are the graphics gotten worse.

  32. Nicky_loves_GT5

But regardless my last post. im gona deal with it, ive been a fan since gt1 :) so i bet they’re are doing it for a good reason :D!!!!

  33. Nicky_loves_GT5

Pardon my words but …what that f.i.t.s!!! how in the hell im going to give zonda’s r away?…i gave my friends 3 zondas r last weekend, so this update means i can not longer do that, unless i do it trough the car loan system?…but if i do it so…the car still mine…-.-!

  34. Lavaman

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!

All these people blowing up about the trading issue! WOW! It’s like a lot of you care more about collecting all the cars than actually driving them. The funny thing is… Most of these trade ho0rs can’t even drive them or worse still wont drive them to preserve the whole 0 miles 0 changes fascination!

I personally hope you all move along quick, leaving only the true GT fans to enjoy this fantastic game.

Killzone 3 looks pretty good, go kill each other yea instead ;)

    1. pellepelle10

      @Lavaman

This game was a mess from the beginning. It’s only because of this mess people decided to take another route. I’m willing to bet you if they allowed people to sell back their cars or receive a prize car after championship races there would be no story about trading. Lets keep it real here. This game other than graphics and online play is nothing remotely close to the previous GT’s. Before you wouldn’t have to dream of some year owning a car. Now you’ve gone to damn near impossible to own one. 20mil seriously? I wish they did give a refund. The number of you socalled TRUE GT fans wouldn’t be enough to bring back GT6. I’ll bet you that much.

    2. Aces & Eights

I agree with pelle. 20,000,000. I spent 4 days just to get the XJ13 and Miura. Driving for days strait ruins the games objective to me. To be able to enjoy the worlds most fascinating cars is now impossible.

    3. cupholder

Funny how the only people that say it’s impossible are the ones that lack the patience to do do the work and can’t stand doing the events repeatedly. Two things required of real race drivers. Even funnier given that many of the whinners also keep pointing out that it’s not just a game, but a simulator, when apparently what they want is a simple, no work involved, game. lol.

  35. Karihari Yamuobushet

This game is now officially crap. I am not going to throw money at those monkeys at Polyphony Digital for their crap games now.

  36. XxTh3_St1gxX

Well, IMO… this wasn’t a good move by PD. ALOT of people dupe… hell, more than the majority of people commenting on this post dupe cars and are pretty pissed. I myself did some duping…. because “grinding” seemed liked nothing but a boring repetitive process because the emphasis on B-Spec Racing… why couldn’t it be like GT4 when they divided events up such as beginner, intermediate, professional, expert, and pro, but also split up events by American, European, Japanese… etc. it would have been nice to see that as well.

    1. zsefbhuk.

The majority of posts here are the same guys posting the same arguments over an over, with a healthy dose of trolls taking advantage of the hoopla. When you boil it down, there isn’t nearly the number of angry people it looks like at first. There isn’t much of a counter debate simply because it isn’t worth the effort.

  37. LoneWanderer

I don’t think I’ve ever seen this much complaining here. (Last time was probably on the day of GT5’s last delay.) Anyway, this tiny patch doesn’t really affect me. I rarely ever do trades. I’ve only let friends borrow a car to complete a certain race.

Some people just need to have patience to yield what they desire.

  38. F THIS ISH

Some ol bs man, what hell my friend was legitly going to trade his Mclaren F1 for my Enzo tonight, and guss what? this Dumb ass update ruined that palne. FTS

  39. Ferrari

    Here I was hoping the 1 car/day was removed…
    nope
    instead it got gayer

very frustrating. This is the only thing I now hate about GT5 (other than standard vs premiums)

  40. giygas

This was probably done to damage the b-day trick, so i’m not all the way dissapointed like some of you guys.

Really, it’s a godsend that my friend sent me a gift card of a ford gt lm spec/2, since i acidentally deleted my first one. great american car btw, now all i need from that class level is a clk-gtr, an F1 race car and an esperante and im done collecting lm cars!

  41. Tvensky

I think this update with this limit is just for some time while they figure out what they will do with all those Cheaters who spoils the game with duping. Hope they will get banned from playing online! but at least they have to calculate what car is duped and delete it with all the tuning and all money went on it as a price! Then GT5 and PD would gaind Respect in fair player GT comunity! Thumbs up!

The funny thing to me is that many of the players who are so obsessed with have a large number of cars that they are willing to dupe to avoid grinding are the same players who would never understand the following: it’s now what car you drive it’s how you drive it.

I’m level 30 with 160 cars. I play almost every day for 30 to 60 minutes, and 3 to 4 hours on saturdays. I have fun driving all types of cars. Low power cars are fun to drive too when you are actually trying to improve your racing skills and reduce your lap times. The ones griding to buy every freaking race car in the game are probably the same people racing online with racing soft tires. These people do not understand the point of the game. They don’t have what is required to truely enjoy this game, which is passion for motor sports; they are just gamers.

If I am wrong, why are so many people so obsessed with owning every race car in the game? This is important to understand because it is only these obsessed car collectors that are upset with the new 1,000,000 credit gifting cap.

    1. LondonSW

I agree with you. However there is a big majority of gamers who bought the game purely because of the hype around it. Which might explain the maniac drivers online.

    2. pudge

@nastradamus87: “The funny thing to me is that many of the players who are so obsessed with have a large number of cars that they are willing to dupe to avoid grinding are the same players who would never understand the following: it’s now what car you drive it’s how you drive it.”

No, YOU are the one lacking understanding. I simply want to get all the cars, which PD itself has encouraged (with a trophy for 1000 cars); I will certainly never drive most of them, so your focus on “what you drive” is literally pointless.

      “If I am wrong”

      You are.

“why are so many people so obsessed with owning every race car in the game?”

Because we love cars. Because we have OCD. Because PD encourages us to. Because we simply want to. Because we want to be able to see a car on the street or on TV or in a movie or a magazine, and know that because it’s in the game, we have it, and we can go home and drive it.

Lots of reasons. If you don’t share the desire, so what?

“This is important to understand because it is only these obsessed car collectors that are upset with the new 1,000,000 credit gifting cap.”

If you don’t want to own all the cars, so what? Why do you care?

  43. Herrwazza

I went to the shop and I purchased a Gran Turismo 5 disc with the license to use that. I then took it home and read the EULA and Terms and Conditions. I then proceeded to play the game, accepting the EULA and Terms and Conditions with full knowledge that Polyphony Digital has the right to alter the game however they see fit for purpose, and even revoke my license to play the game through any means (be it ban me from online etc)if they feel it is warranted.
If I read the EULA and disagree, I am entitled to take the product back to the shop in exchange for a full refund in a reasonable time frame. I’m not sure about other countries, but this is how it is here.
In other words, shut your whiny mouths about PD changing the game when you are all fully aware they have the power to change it and that you did not buy the game, you bought a license to use the game. Play it or don’t play it. Imagine complaining to someone who doesn’t own the game about it, they will probably laugh.

    1. pudge

@Herrwazza: ummmm. No one is saying, that I saw, that PD has no right to do this. They are saying PD shouldn’t have done this. So your criticism is one big straw man fallacy.

  44. LondonSW

Is GT5 a driving game or duping game? An outsider to this forum may wonder.
I think PD should keep all the updates but increase the prize money on the top events. So then at least theres a chance of buying the high value cars.
PD should also bring back time trial leaderboards and online matchmaking from GT prologue, but this time without the unable to connect problem. God i hated that error message.

    1. pudge

“Is GT5 a driving game or duping game? An outsider to this forum may wonder.”

PD has said, several times, that GT5 is like a museum of cars.

And yet the ONLY WAY to get all the cars is to dupe, because no one can spend the time to grind the money needed to purchase them all outright.

I agree with you that the proper fix is to increase the prize money, by a lot.

    2. Wink364

“And yet the ONLY WAY to get all the cars is to dupe, because no one can spend the time to grind the money needed to purchase them all outright.”

The only way you know of anyway. I read up above somewhere, someone telling you how to do it without duping, or endless A-spec grinding, but I guess you haven’t read it or something. His method makes your “only way” argument kind of, well, let’s say “flawed” to be nice.f

    3. Bullpuckie

@wink, He did read it, but seems to think 7 weeks of low effort for 778 cars is way too much to invest into getting cars. I took longer to get the same number of cars in GT4, just because i’d forget to check GT4’s used car dealers, lol.
In fact, if you count the guy that mentioned rubber banding the controller, there are at least three easy methods posted on this page. He’s either trolling, extremely bad at money management, or simply playing the wrong game. Whatever the reason, doesn’t matter what anyone says, he’s just going to keep chanting the same thing over and over just for the fun of arguing apparrently.

    4. Meh

Yah, I don’t want to just put the troll stamp on him just yet, but he does lose credibillity just repeating “there’s no way” over and over, when it’s obviously not true. A more truthfull argument would be to say “there are ways, but not the ways I want to do it”. Of course that takes away his main point, so mabey that’s why he keeps sticking to the same line. Catch 22 I guess.
If he keeps it up though, i’ll have to change my vote to troll. It’s been clearly demonstrated that there are other easy ways to get cars for little or no effort, and in less time than it took many people to complete previous GT games.

    5. Nice try Troll

LOL,I believe him because lots of us who bought up all the cheap cars first have about the same, in about the same time. You’ve only had the game for about 12, and you’re claiming even more. To qoute you from above:

” I have over 950 cars and I bought them all myself. I haven’t traded with or got gifts from anyone, ever.”

Sounds like your the one nobody should believe troll.

    6. Mike

Awww common man. Got half my cars duping and even i’m not buy’n this line anymore. I do hope PD changes the sending limit and or ups the rewards, but there are loopholes in the current system if you use your head. Even better with the help of a few friends.
As for non dupers with 700+ cars, if a person took advantage of the pre 1.05 prize levels in a smart way it was fairly easy to get all the premiums, and it’s still easy to rack up standards quickly. Easier now in fact. Mabey you put off the exspensives too long, but plenty of people didn’t, because we knew this was coming, or in the case of non dupers, because they knew the larger money handouts were comming to an end. So yes, it’s very believable. Insisting it’s impossible, or can’t be done without duping isn’t helping the cause, it just makes it look like you don’t know what your talking about.
      Peace.

    7. AMC_Javlin

15 cars a day? Some would say that’s slacking. I’ve picked up more than that when the UCD is puttin up good selections, and i don’t even care to collect them all.
Shoot for 5 moderately exspensive one day, grab 25 cheap ones the next so it balances. Sounds about right to me. Especially when you got your high priced durring the high payouts like mike said.

    8. pudge

“LOL,I believe him because lots of us who bought up all the cheap cars first have about the same, in about the same time. You’ve only had the game for about 12, and you’re claiming even more.”

You’re not paying attention … he said he didn’t dupe, he said he has that many, AND he said he’ll pass me soon. That means he has enough money to buy all the expensive cars, not just the cheap ones, and he’s doing it — again — without duping.

      Nope, not happening.

    9. Yah uh-huh

Multiple people just said exactly how you do it without dupes, so yah, buying this troll bit anymore, not happening.

  45. lilmann73

Kind of strange. Wasn’t GT5’s marketing “We love cars”?
You wouldn’t know it. I admit… I dupe my cars. Know why? Because I don’t want to spend an hour or so grinding to get a decent, maybe-worth-it car. All I had to do was dupe some expensive cars, and get a car I actually want from an online trade. I’m NOT sorry that I don’t want to trade a Focus for a Camaro. I can get those on my own. Looks like GT5 decided to throw itself in a blender. Sure, I enjoy the racing, but I’m too busy to do any long races, and the ones I can do I’ve done at least four times over. There isn’t anything left in the game now.

  46. scubaboy3c

The party’s over. Time to work on duping the sub-1mil cars now, I guess.

This just in to the GT5 newsroom:

-Mad duper, still on the loose. “Stop me before I dupe again!!!!!!!!!”

  47. 67Chevelle

Well, that makes it official. V1.07 now has gennerated as much outrage as V1.06 gennerated praise, and all within a week. Got to be some kind of record…..lol

  48. Andy

You win a car, you can’t sell it in the game, you can’t trade it for a car you want. PD is desperate to extend the life of GT5.

    1. limitedslip92

i get it now!!! they want it to take five years to get all the cars so that they have time make GT6!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    2. FewMonChew

“i get it now!!! they want it to take five years to get all the cars so that they have time make GT6!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

Hey! You’ll be able to get it for your 11th birthday! Woohoo!

  49. Steeeve104

I can see why they’ve done it, but I’m disappointed with the decision to limit the value of cars you can gift (and therefore trade). I’ve now got a spare FGT that I got as my Level 24 ticket for finally completing the B-spec endurance series that I don’t want or need. I did have a trade lined up for one of the Ferrari F1 cars – this is now off thanks to the update. I can’t sell it either (unless they’ve changed this too – I’ve not fired up the PS3 yet) so it’s just going to sit there, unloved and unused. Shame this is impacting genuine gifting/trading.

  50. Andy

PD has a dream, that dream is for everyone to play the game like PD.

They just want your money, any misbehaving and it’s bed with no supper.

  51. Tweetman_277

I think with the whole duping thing sorted out, they might find it safe to let us re-win cars from the championships like GT4, I really think that would be brilliant and make the grinder moaners shut up once and for all.

  52. Ryan

I dont agree with the new update…as i collect cars and i feel you should have the freedom to do what you like.and as there is a trophy for collecting all the cars this looks just about over for me.very disappointed and will not buy any of the gt series from now on.

    1. Bye

Wow, to lazy te let b-spec bob do it for you even. How do you even make it out of bed in the morning? Good ridance, more copies for the rest of us on release days then……

    2. limitedslip92

      @bye
screw Bspec its a joke so is Aspec the AI is a joke none of it is “FUN” the only thing that is fun is playing your friends online and they dont even give us hardly any money for it. yes i wont be buying gt6 it will be a joke just like gt5. you should be able to make GOOD money racing online NOT USING STUPID BSPEC BOB. for god sake your not even learning to race your starting a race and walking away its POINTLESS and STUPID

    3. Yep

      pointless and stupid……
Just like whinning that you can’t cheat anymore…….
Just like comlaining that there’s an endless cash cow that earns money when you can’t play…..
Just like “threatening” not to play anymore….
Just like thinking any real players give a darn…..
      Yep.
      pointless and stupid.

    4. Yep

      Wait for it…..wait for it……ready?……..here it comes….

      NOPE!

No, really, after reading a handfull of your lame troll posts, I just wanted to see how easy it would be to yank your chain into a half arse response.
Easier then expected, and kind of borring. I guess you need an update. Your AI is a little slow has well…..

      LOLOLLOLOL

  53. pudge

I will give some credit to PD … at least now you can grind money through your web browser, and not insignificant amounts. But still, it’s way too time-consuming (not to mention electricity-consuming).

Also, is this a bug? You don’t get any driver experience/career bump for remote races. My level 40 B-spec driver has over 550 career races, and still hasn’t peaked. And drivers I created and have only used in remote racing are level 20 and so on, but have a completely empty experience/career bar.

    1. Freddy

Yep, it’s a bit glitchy with pre patch drivers. I’m level 40, with level 37 to 39 drivers, and it shows all skills fully maxed for all drivers, though they’re not.
It does level up you and you drivers, but after about level 25 or so, the skill points start becoming too small to see much difference. By the time your guys get 35+ you won’t really be gaining anything perceptable.

  54. Alex Leighton

Holy long list of comments batman. I love all the crying dupers though, I sincerely hope all of you saying you’ll never play the game again actually never play the game again.

    1. limitedslip92

i didnt say i would “play” i just wont be buying gt6. what is there to look forward to more crappy Aspec AI that is a joke and pointless Bspec no thanks iv had my shear. why is it we only make 7000 in an online race when a set of tires alone cost 30,000 that is a joke this game was not thought out at all

  55. limitedslip92

does PD realize that A spec sucks the AI is a joke and B spec is boring. you shouldnt have to leave your ps3 running for months on end to make money in the most POINTLESS way ever. anyone that says “Bspec is fun” is full of $h1t PD just dint design a good game other than the actual dring part the rest is trash

  56. OptimusBling

Wow, I have never seen more people complaining about something as small as this. Has this really what it has gone to? What was once a pure racing game has now turned into madness because what was once a privilege was ruined by the same people that abused it, and they are ones to complain? They knew what was going to happen, and they knew that PD was going to fix it. Why complain? Because your high dollar car that usual people work for couldn’t be in your grasp by way of beating the system? What happened to the Gran Turismo that I grew up with. The Gran Turismo that I had enjoyed playing. The Gran Turismo that I loved to earn money and buy my own cars for. The Gran Turismo that actually required skill to use. Many people say that dupers killed the game, but I think it was PD. Why do I say this? Because they made something that wasn’t a core factor to the game and people found out how to take advantage of this. I’m not going to say this is an awful game because of this wrongdoing but I will say that I am disappointed. Will I stop playing it? No, probably not. Will I look to better games? If they exist, yes. Take this with how you want.

    1. pudge

@OptimusBling: you’re wrong. EVERY one of the 955 cars I have, *I* worked for. No one gifted me a single car. What went wrong here is that PD made it so you had to continually “grind” to afford cars. THAT is the problem.

And what kills me about your rant is that none of this hurts YOU or YOUR enjoyment of the game at all, so why are you bitching and saying it somehow makes Gran Turismo a worse experience for you? Utterly insane.

    2. OptimusBling

@pudge: Oh, so it’s a problem that you have to grind for your cars? Everybody may be entitled to their opinions but i’m sorry if I like working for my cars. I’m not somebody who’s lazy and feels that I have to half-ass something to get them. That’s good that *you* have worked for your 955 cars (I doubt that somehow..) And yes, it doesn’t hurt me or my enjoyment of the game, i’m glad you saw to my point. Why I am complaining is that everybody else is complaining because they felt that it wasn’t necessary to kill off something that shouldn’t have been in the game in the first place. Sorry to those who traded cars, but i’m a purist and I feel that if you want a car you should have to either wait, or buy it. I’m sorry if that’s way to utterly insane for you to comprenhend.

    3. oxeclean8

i’m sorry but i like to “have fun” playing my games not feel like i have to “work” to enjoy what they have to offer..

    4. pudge

“so it’s a problem that you have to grind for your cars?”

Yes. It takes me, say, an hour to grind a million credits (rough estimate). I have 36 cars that cost more than 1m credits, for a total of 223m credits, just for those 36 cars. Thats 223 hours. When I got to 20m credits, which took a long damned time, sorry, I didn’t feel like starting over from scratch when I bought my Ferrari 330 P4. So I saved my game, bought it, gifted it to another account, restored my game, and gifted it back.

“I’m sorry if I like working for my cars”

It’s not about liking it, it’s about not having that much time.

“That’s good that *you* have worked for your 955 cars (I doubt that somehow..) ”

Shrug, it’s true. I had to dupe to do it, but I did it all by myself.

“Why I am complaining is that everybody else is complaining”

And I am complaining that you are complaining that everybody else is complaining. And around and around …

“Sorry to those who traded cars, but i’m a purist and I feel that if you want a car you should have to either wait, or buy it. I’m sorry if that’s way to utterly insane for you to comprenhend.”

Yes, it IS insane for me to comprehend that you have a feeling for what OTHER PEOPLE “should” do. I don’t care what you do; why do you care what I do?

The problem is that YOU are the one who doesn’t comprehend that some of us want to try to get every car in the game, and that’s simply not possible if you have any sort of a life, given the current game conditions.

If I didn’t want to get every car, then sure, it wouldn’t be a big deal. I would’ve gotten lots of cool cars, and then just stopped. When I got more cash in bonus races, I’d buy some more cars. No biggie. But I want all the cars, and there’s simply no way to do it without duping.

What’s really remarkable is that there’s a trophy for getting 1000 cars, but the only ways to do it are to just waste your time buying the same Kart over and over again, or to do something PD considers “abuse.” It’s poor game design, and PD should fix it (my suggestion: make cash prizes go up with your driver level, so if you’re level 40, you get a lot more credits for a win than you do if you’re level 20).

    5. Bullpuckie

“but the only ways to do it are to just waste your time buying the same Kart over and over again, or to do something PD considers “abuse.””

Ummmm, no. 763 cars, not one duped, racing A-spec an average of 1 to 2 hours per day, the rest leaving it to B-spec bob and trading paint/museum cards for unwanted cheap cars I promptly sell. This update slows down my trade buisness, sure, but already having all premiums, getting the standards will just take a little longer.

    6. pudge

@Bullpuckie: yes, and you’ve been doing this for how many months, and you’re still pretty far from 1000. That’s my point: if you actually read my whole post, I said, yeah, you can spend literally hundreds of hours to get all those expensive cars …

    7. Bullpuckie

A month and three weeks. Just picked up another 15 in the last 2 and a half hours for a total of 778. I’ll be passing you within two weeks at that rate while youl’ll still be here complaining that you don’t have time.

    8. Ditto

Yes, once you get past the exspensive premiums, it’s easy has all get out to rack up quick numbers on standards, most of them being cheap. I got dozens just from doing seasonal events last weekend.
The 20mil cars are a bit annoying i’ll admit, but far from impossible to get, and GT has allways had a few cars that you have to save for. The point is to reward for effort. People that are surprised by this leave me scratching my head. Got to wonder what game they thought they were playing.

    9. Frag out

      We’ve got monkeys!
      We’ve got Keyboards!
We’ve got monkeys banging away on keyboards!
Where’s my Shakespeare? I’m not seeing any Shakespeare.
      WTH?

    10. Frag out

Oh, and quit feeding the troll. He knows there are alternatives to grinding for people with jobs. Obviously he just wants to keep the argument going with this crap about duping being a requirement/the only way. Krikes.

    11. lol@Frag out

Monkeys don’t work with keyboards, only typewriters. For keyboards you need to crossbreed roos and dingo, and even then, they tend to crank out modernmusicals rather than clasical plays…..;)

    12. pudge

@Ditto: the problem is that it’s simply not possible to do with the current levels of rewards, without spending all your time playing. The “effort” you speak of isn’t enough.

    13. Nice try Troll

LOL, nobody bother arguing with him, has pointed out days ago further down, he’s just going to keep repeating the same full of crap arguments to get a rise out of people. Everybody knows how to farm cash with multiple accounts and GTanywhere now, so anyone still arguing this crap about how hard they have to work for cash is just full of it.

    14. 0_o

Uhhh, thanks, but we know this days ago. Why do you think we kept having conversations everywhere else on the page, but not reply to him? ;) Move on, so will he…

    15. Old News

Hehe, when dupers like myself have already found other methods to get past the “ban” that make his argument null it’s kinda a dead givaway that he is either not much of a duper or just trying to start stuff…..

  57. limitedslip92

sorry but i have a wife a 2yo child and a LIFE. i cant put ALOT of time into a game, so i would have been f’ed without the abilty to gift and be gifted cars. i BOUGHT a game that said it had 1000 cars and all i want to do is race my friends online so SCREW YOU PD i wont be buying your next game i dont have a LIFETIME TO PUT INTO GETTING THE 1000 CARS. PS i dont care what anyone has to say about this if you dont have a life well then good for you play the game 8 hours a day for 2 years to get all the cars

    1. Ummm...

with all due respect – what is actually the draw of collecting all the cars anyway?

most of them are redundant… i mean, there can’t be many people who want to race around in a toyota yaris day in day out, can there? i have yet to come across a thread in the online racing forum advertising fiat 500 championships etc… i don’t doubt that there is one somewhere though…

most of the decent racing i’ve taken part in usually involves the mid-to-high power range of cars like the Super GT series, the exotic cars like the ferraris and lamborghinis, and the NASCAR vehicles.

i have about 180 cars in my garage atm and i’d like to get a few more to bring that total up to about 250 but above that, i’m not interested in every model of Mazda Miata. sure it’s nice to have a few cars that aren’t pure racers but i thought this game was predominantly about racing, not car collecting. my guess is that the variety of cars is put there to appeal to a large audience.

i personally have no ambition of collecting all the cars so this part of the update doesn’t bother me. what does bother me is that a company has decided to take it upon themselves to set a moral code for the people who purchase their products.

i bought the game to play it, not to be taught a lesson in morals. if i wanted that i’d play a Final Fantasy, or a LOZ game.

  58. Danlisa

Kaz has tweeted that the 1 million limit will be lifted (at some point) to allow those who sent friends their top end cars to have them returned.

The limit will then be re-applied. He says it was bad that he didn’t notify anyone of this.

When this will happen or how long it will last for is anyones guess.

Check the Kaz Tweets thread in the forum for confirmation.

  59. Jeremy

Whee, this comment section must of been what it was like at Rome’s Colosseum durring the gladiator fights. When do we feed fanboys to the lions? XD

  60. James bond

Yup definately gonna get to 1000 cars now. 170 just 830 more . Good thing now I’ll have to basically buy every single car. O what fun. Just waiting till the next good racing game. Midnightclub la seems like agood choice. :/

    1. No point

Ever tried to grind for one of those carts? Takes five minutes. Cuts into my day letting B-spec bob do it for me. Too much work. Karts should be free because I paid for this game. lol.

  61. neema_t

I wonder if you can still trade tickets? Not specific car tickets, but level tickets, 1000 tickets, birthday tickets and such? I won myself a second Furai (wasn’t happy with my green one, got a nice white one) last night and sent it over, didn’t get round to winning a second Zonda R to compliment the one I painted… In other words, I wish I still had an unpainted one. Oh well.

  62. Warghost20

uuhm just sended a Zonda R , but cant send it back it says i have reached the limit? but the reciever account did not sended anything?

  63. FreeTrade

The arrogance of you people who are happy about this is disgusting. How dare you think you can dictate what other people can do with something they paid their own money for.

If GT is a ‘real driving simulator’ it should be about driving. All the cars should be free so you can enjoy driving what you want and all you juveniles who need to prove you’re better than someone by what you’ve ‘earned’ need to be prevented from competing for them and being confined by an arbitrary and restrictive system of driving cars you’ve paid to drive.

    1. Really?

Your right, i’m going to go crash my car into a bus full of nuns because I paid for it and I can do what I want with it…..
GT anywhere gives you all the free money you want for cars. Agreeing to the EULA gives them the right to make changes has they see fit. Grow up.

    2. Ozymandias

The very fact that you used that analogy of crashing your car into a bus full of nuns shows that it is you who needs to grow up. Committing crime and trading cars on GTPlanet are the same for you?

    3. Really?

Wow, really? You don’t understand the purposely extreme comparison? Why just because I pay for something it doesn’t give me a right to do what I want with it? You actually think I thought driving into a bus full of nuns was something to be taken lightly?
Wow, amazing, but thanks, now I get that the problem is that morals only apply when it’s convenient for you. It’s much clearer now.
Oh, and i’ll be sure to dumb down my analogies from now on, just for you. Sheesh.

    4. @Ozymandias

Telling someone to grow up for posting an adult concept to a childs complaint. Doesn’t really work, but it was good for a laugh. Gold star for effort.

    5. Shazbotic

      @ Really

Extreme comparisons make absolutely no sense here since it is always out of the context. Its just really a cheap shot used to circumvent any actual debate.

Context: GT5 – occurs in a video game. Car and bus you described – occurs in real life.

Take it easy. People are entitled to their opinions. Personally I think its good to be able to “purchase” cars in a video game, but not grind lifelessly so you could buy a Miura at 15M credits. If you don’t agree, fine. No need to write a bunch of caustic words and throw a temper tantrum.

    6. Jeremy

Ehh, no more dramatic than the OP. Made perfect sense to me. Your post is just a cheap shot because you don’t know how to counter it. Obviously it didn’t stop the debate, it was just too complex for the rest of the debators to grasp is all.

    7. Shazbotic

      @ Jeremy

Counter what? That people disagree over the how PD handled trading?

Too “complex”? Not sure if you are trolling here….

    8. People People

OK, I got it. Let me translate.
The problem here is that the OP made a genneralized rediculous statement of “How dare you think you can dictate what other people can do with something they paid their own money for.”.
That doesn’t stand up in reality because in the real world, including software, there are all kinds of restrictions on what you can do with things you purchase.
“Really” demonstrated this with an equally rediculous statement that also demonstrates a situation where no one in their right mind would argue the action is justified by ownership of the property involved. It’s a reference that is done on purpose, and draws it’s effectiveness from it’s shocking nature. It’s actually a common debate tactic. Not uncommon in political debate for example.
“Really” then explained using a more down to earth reference to The EULA, why the OP’s argument is flawed.
He even pointed out how you can still get free cars with GT Anywhere. Thus providing a solution.
Unfortunately, “Really’s” post was apparently one that has gone over others heads for whatever reason. Not uncommon in debate either.
      Time to move on.

  64. ste852

I am still waiting for the ability to pause a B-Spec race when B-Spec bob needs to be told to speed up through the whole race in order to win, oh and to be able to sell cars iv earned that are over 1,000,000cr that I don’t want rather than just deleting them from the garage.

  65. IamDURRRRRR

Huh? No more duping of 1 mil+ cars? OKAY GUYS WHO WANTS MY INFINITI G20 IMMA DUPE IT CUZ IT’S JUST 16K IN THE UCD TROLOLOLOL

Hey wait, why not dupe some of those rare-but-cheap cars like the Volvo? Hyundai? C’MON DUPE SOME OF CHEAP-ASS CARS

    trollface.jpg

    1. Ehhh

Not really. Somebody posts that pretty much every other news article when they’ve got nothing better to say. Sarcasm, yes, epic, no, old and tired, definitely…

  66. Ozymandias

Everyone is so happy the dupers can’t trade anymore. How does someone else’s unhappiness make you happy exactly? They weren’t bothering you were they? All you people keep saying you should win/buy your car legitimately, have you seen how less events there are in this game to play?? And added to that they reduced the number of credits given out by each race as well. So to get cash and buy cars to collect them you have to grind and grind…and grind some more. And with the ridiculously low number of credits given out per race that became just so much harder. So you play a good 40 races and get 4 million credits only to spend it on a rare standard car ( which you’ll be lucky if it appears on time in your UCD at all) and then the grinding begins again for another car. Now you “purists” may have no work to do or have too much time on your hands to do all the required grinding, but im sorry people who are busy with jobs find that it makes it easier for them to collect cars by trading. And I don’t think there is anything wrong with that. The marketplace is a really great community and something that many people looked forward to and enjoyed. What is your problem? They never poured out hate against you people who do not dupe, so why are you guys raging against them? Live and let live for God’s sake.

    1. Brendon

LOL@OzzyOsborne. Like the cheater is going to have some kind of impact. Reminds me of the “LEAVE BRITTANY ALONE” guy from youtube. XD

    2. MilkMan

      well said Ozymandias :D

I personally don’t trade (don’t have any fancy cars either though) but I think this update is BS…

    3. Holden

Meh, just the same whiney arse prattle as been posted 100 times allready, he just decided to put it in the form of a long winded essay. Just like the rest, won’t change a thing, and more than a wee bit pathetic that he thinks it will.

    4. Ozymandias

@Holden : Just because people can string together a few more words than your limited vocabulary can it doesn’t make it an essay. Grow up and come back when you have some original opinions unlike the same vomited garbage put up by some 200 different idiots above.

    5. LOL

Yah holden, be super sophisticated like Ozymandias and post kiddie tantrum rants when you don’t get your way. Oh, and be sure to follow it up with the same hate your supposedly against when you don’t get the response you wanted. That’ll show him….O_o

    6. Ozymandias

@LOL : I wasn’t throwing a tantrum. Far from it. I don’t think my original post was offending any people who were against duping. I didn’t resort to petty name calling or abusing. It was a simple plea to not throw around abuses at people who did not do anything anything to cause any sort of harm to you purists. I wasn’t throwing hate to Holden, was just replying in the same vein of language he is comfortable with apparently. My post was not intended for a response. I just wanted my opinion known, because I think it is damn well a better opinion that one-liners having “sucks to be a duper”. But you’re right, by resorting to the sort of language Holden uses, I contradicted myself, thanks for pointing that out. It seems few are mature enough here to see 2 sides of a coin and consider other opinions with some thought rather than blind keyboard mashing. Cheers.

    7. Really?

      Uhh, yah, whatever. +1 LOL.
And 200 idiots above? There arn’t even that many posts, half of those being “arrrgh PD took my cheat away” posts. Of course there are going to be people responding with “sucks for you”. It’s not like PD didn’t just give us a free money generator.

    8. Ummm...

this ‘back-n-forth’ has been one of the funniest things i’ve read so far in this thread…

who would have thought that something so simple would have evoked such an emotional response from so many people?

i can see why people might get upset at the restriction of trading expensive cars because it means that, where aforementioned expensive cars are concerned, there can be no more long term borrowing of friends cars, no more legit trading and no option to send a car to a mate for a decent racing tune.

what’s difficult to understand is why the auto-pimps are getting so upset about it. duping isn’t in the GT5 manual so clearly it isn’t what the developers intended to happen. they were perhaps foolhardy (or too trusting) to not foresee something like this happening, but now they’ve corrected their error and that’s how it is.

there is the argument that it is only a game and so why bother to enforce restrictions of this type. duping, from what i can tell, isn’t having an all too negative impact on other players anyway. certainly, i don’t care that other’s are duping cars and gifting them to their mates or whoever else. i’m more interested in clean and competitive racing with clean and competitive gamers.

if i’m honest (and i usually am), i’d much prefer that PD concentrate on creating an online league feature, more restriction options in the online mode, more RM cars, a better HUD, audio options in the start menu, a custom event builder… to put it simply – all of the great ideas which myself and others have already put out there that would actually enhance the gameplay as opposed to trying to act as agents of justice on behalf of some disgruntled gamers. yes, it’s unfair that auto-pimpage has been going on, but the restriction of trading expensive cars doesn’t, IMO, actually improve any aspect of the game itself where gameplay is concerned.

Summary: the act of duping hasn’t been eradicated comepletely and people are unhappy that they are not allowed to partake in the trading of expensive cars in a non-illegitimate manner.

i believe there is a word for this –

      FAIL

    1. Adam t

Yeah but once you finally get that super rare car, you can’t do anything with it cause it is too much money to trade with. What is the point of having a now “super rare” car when all you can do is just drive it around. There is absolutely no point in trading now. What are we gonna do now, trade Honda civics for focuses? Shame :(

  67. djMister-T

Damn, When do they increase the XP’s. I only need 4 more colours of X2010. I have 14 milj credits now. The bonus race wasn’t change this week, bah!!.

I think a lot off gamers go playing other games now.

    Killzone 3 here I come….

  68. XtraMinty

    You’re all mad as hell

“WAAAHHH I can’t cheat the game and get cars for free now! This so unfair how we can’t exploit the game anymore!”
Sure, it sucks for the legit people who want to swap expensive cars, but they only have the duping morons to blame

    1. robbo6

You’re the cretinous moron here. The in game economy is CRAP…totally and utterly sh*tbox broke and this was a way around that. PD better fix the economy…oh wait they went a step in the right direction a while back then recently REDUCED the credits won again……

  69. funkyDucks

Well done PD.I give my ferrari 330P4 to a friend yesterday and the veyron to another the day before. Now I have no chance of getting them back. :(

  70. Stotty

To all those crowing about no further duping… those of us who have been at this since the beginning have already got all the expensive cars, so it has little if any effect on us ;)

  71. A-suspec

Wellll, now that replay downloads are back, it’s good to see top times with drivers going all four wheels off track at indy. I was worried they’d put in a working penalty system, and it would be unfair to certain cars with C.F.I.S. (Centrifical Force Imunity Syndrome). But alas, fear not, those with C.F.I.S. can still get their dose of grass (for medical purposes only of course….). Yay. (Facepalm)

    1. Aces & Eights

Every time I see someone say ‘its just a game’ I laugh. Its just a game, but over 60% of the worlds population probably play it. Not to mention you can compete online on GT5 to become a real race car driver. Well… it seems pretty big to me… Its not a game, its a driving simulator.

  72. Hentis

As soon as the first news broke about being able to dupe cars after the save file update it was only going to be a matter of time before this was done. And as a user who duped between a friend yeah I am glad its happened. It does ruin the game and its abusing the “gift” system. Whether you like it or not its been stopped. Move on people it isnt going to change.

  73. Cuztheyrefast

People can relax. It appears Kaz believes it was a mistake and will change it back in a few hours of me posting this.

    1. Cuztheyrefast

      Check his twitter feed.

And sorry, my Japanese isn’t that great. After looking at it again, it appears it will only be temporary for friends to return cars to their rightful owner. He says he should have announced the update beforehand.

    2. recca

someone want to confirm this instead of accusing him of lying? I’m somewhat hopeful

I was actually going to get my friend the Mark IV for his birthday because that’s his fav along with some photos of the car on Le Sarth, beside the ferrari p3,GT40 69…they need to bring it back and no it doesn’t seem like he’s going to earn it. He doesn’t play it much, but if he had this car he’d play GT5 a lot more…it would’ve been an awesome present!

    3. Cuztheyrefast

Here’s an idea. Instead of calling me a liar and troll go to the thread ‘Kazunori Yamauchi Tweets’. Go to page 92. There are others saying what I said.

    4. Meh

Yup, I checked it earlier. All I saw was wide spread confusion, some talk of a mysterious dissapearing tweet, and disagreement over what it possibly ment, or what it effected. Not exactly what I’d call proof, so i’ll wait for a more official notice from PD before I start cheering.

  74. Control Freaks

You control freaks who got your panties in a wad because someone for duplicated and traded cars instead of sitting in front of a TV for 200 hours need a shrink. Worrying about what someone else did in a video game? With all that is wrong in the world? Even if the planet was perfect, SO WHAT? Doesn’t matter if its what you perceive as fair or not, this obsession is going to make some shrinks rich when you all hit your mid-life crises. Life isn’t fair, get a grip. If someone wants to trade for dup cars, create dup accounts, birthday accounts or whatever, SO WHAT? ITS A VIDEO GAME CHILDREN! In the great scheme of things it all means JACK.

    1. U mad bro?

We got our panties in a wad? Your post seems pretty PMS-y to me.

I think YOU might need to be the one who visits the shrink.

    2. Information desk

Fun fact: The combined age of all of these people posting “whaa, I should be able to dupe. It’s not fair” type posts still wouldn’t add up to 18, but the letters they use to post such crap with would circle the Earth three times if typed out on quarter inch ribbon……

  75. Neo_Xsendra

    Nice one.

Now please delete ALL DUPLICATES (including the originals off all dups) and online will be all fine :D

  76. dudejo

if they’re going to do something like that, they might as well just REMOVE the whole trading system.

    restricting dupers? fine.

however, this is like current copy protection on CDs and DVDs.

it punishes no one but the normal user.

dupers will just find a way around it.

  77. Ummm...

i guess the decision to limit the value of gifted cars could be a temp fix until a better trading system is put in place

  78. robbo6

My GOD PD what are you doing. I can understand the issue of the dupers, but I wanted to collect as many cars as possible. In other GTs it was possible, but GT5 has the worst economy of any game of this genre. It IS completely broke, NOT enough races, NOT enough money, NO ability to win prize cars more than once and MOST if not ALL have no resale value anyway, car prices are MASSIVELY inflated over previous GTs…..it’s just crap. And the only way to work around it has been taken away. I’m gobsmacked, there are WAY more important issues with the game that NEED fixing and they do this. Cretins of the Year award go to PD.

    1. Ummm...

yes, there are a lot of other things that need improving.

my feeling is that Yamauchi doesn’t like the idea of some people being dishonest when others are earning their rewards.

he’s Japanese – he berieves in honour, my ferrow driver

    2. Ummm...

or maybe a play on the fact that the Japanese don’t have the letter L in their language and so pronounce them like Rs?

    3. P.Floyd

I am completely with you. Somewhere about half of the game progress I realized the same: “f..k I will never have the chance to buy/drive most of the cars worth driving in this game”. The game started being fun again when I discovered what 99% of the people were doing to get the cars – earn money, save the game and than you know…
What PD actually want with this restriction is that we keep playing GT5 (read grinding) for next 10 years so they do not need to rush releasing GT6 any sooner than that. For me this update is a real spoiler BECAUSE I BOUGHT THE GAME TO DRIVE ALL THE GOOD CARS THEY ARE IN THERE. what’s teh point if I just to sit and wish I had them. Oh just a mention to all of you who will say “earn them the legit way”. I am father of two kds and have a real job. Does my lack of time to waste on grindin excludes me from being GT fan?

  79. Flying Dutchman

The only people not complaining about this update are the ones that already duped the majority of the rare and/or expensive cars in the game.. And are now saying that they’ve bought them with earned money.. No way any of you spent 20 million credits on one of the three buyable historic racers, or 15 million for the Miura P400 Bertone. Not to mention the dozens of 4 million+ LM cars. The ones who try to be legit right now are thus probably the ones who duped most of them already.

    1. DocDock

      @Flying Dutchman

I was somewhere halfway. Yes i did dupe/clone cars but the lack of racing events and low credits for the races means i had to do this. I still did buy the cheaper cars, but most people don’t have the time or the patience in their life to play GT5 24/7 just to grind credits and xp.

The main problem doesn’t lie with the duping, it lies with the lack of race events available. I’m beginning to sound like a broken record here.

    2. Madman Apex

dont forget to mention the four Ferrari F1 cars. those four plus all the LMPs i bought without spending a single penny. im just screwed over for 15million+ cars.

    3. Fredde_swe

I have never duped or traded a single car and have still bought some of the expensive premium cars, like the P4.

I just don’t see the point of being gifted a car. I want to earn it, because it’s first then I can really appreciate the car. Otherwise it’s just like arcade mode.

    4. Ummm...

      i disagree.

even though i’ve been gifted a car and a paint chip which has probably been duped beforehand, i haven’t done any duping myself.

i don’t care that there’s a limit to prevent the more expensive cars being duped because they can be bought or earnt anyway, so i ain’t losing out.

when i’m in the trading market it’s for the less expensive, less fashionable cars like the MR2 ’86 and Fairlady Z300 ’83.

what’s the point of me getting hold of a duped X1 if i haven’t gone to the trouble of being able to drive it by completing the challenges…? it’s a car, so it’s there to be driven.
if i go to drive a duped X1 what chance have i got of competing against those who have earned theirs anyway?

i like winning races, reagardless of the car i’m driving.

    5. pellepelle10

No the ones winning these insanely expensive 20mil cars are the guys who dont work or have no life after work. these cars are so insanely priced its not even funny. There’s nothing fun about repeating races 200+ times. If they want to makr these cars this expensive make it reasonably possible for us to get them. Give a homeless man a dollar and wait for the day he can afford a lambo.

    6. pellepelle10

No the ones winning these insanely expensive 20mil cars are the guys who dont work or have no life after work. these cars are so insanely priced its not even funny. 80. denjel

Cool update again PD! thx :) Banned the dupers with such an simple fix – awesome! And, of cousre, its possible to earn all cars legit…it just takes some time…

But i really wonder when it will be possible to save at least 3 settings per car….and maybe trade them with friends..?

It is a bit sensless to give the gamers a FULLY ADJUSTABLE GEARBOX without the oppotunity to save the settings and compare them properly….without writing down endless numbers on paper. This is ridiculous!

  81. Gemini-erau

what i want to know is… how many people who never duplicated and used to loan their expensive cars, like the x1, to their friends before the loan update will now be unable to get their expensive cars back because the update prohibits the return of said vehicles.

    1. Gemini-erau

thank god my buddy returned my x1 before this update happened, otherwise i would be extremely upset that i couldnt get my x1 back if he hadnt returned it in time.

and since i never duped, that would suck hardcore.

  82. DocDock

Just to echo what i said on your FB page…

So people moan about grinding to get the more expensive cars, so they effectively take away the one feature which means makes that process all the more easier to obtain these cars. Utterly pointless addition by Polyphony Digital. What makes… it all the more daft is when setting your car to loan you can’t use this car yourself i believe, so there goes the point in using the loan system. And they haven’t updated the sodding seasonals or the OCD this week either.

Not forgetting that the Ferrari cars in the seasonals each cost 10 million and 12.5 million, what if none of your friends have the Ferrari F1 cars to loan? Once again, a stupid decision by Polyphony Digital

One step forward, two steps back.

    1. j8mie

I have to agree. It’s clear there won’t be any seasonal events + updated OCD this week because of this rubbish patch.

I do think PD should have warned us about this update so if you had gifted a car to a friend you could get it back beforehand.

  83. PAWEL17

Ahhhh!!! F**K!! I was about to trade my 330p4, for a 2D with a friend! G*d dammit!! Thanks alot you b****y duplicators, thanks a bunch! You c**ts!!

  84. j8mie

I don’t like to moan about free updates, but this one misses the mark by quite some distance. Yes something needed to be done with regards the trading of cars, but setting a limit of only 1,000,000 Cr is a joke. This just means more grinding to earn the money to buy those 20,000,000 Cr. cars.

I didn’t like the idea of buying cars on eBay and this will stop that, and people have several accounts was a joke as well. I think PD needed to give this some more thought before releasing this update.

  85. Overheating

I say make it the life simulator, where you have to grind 8 hours a day to cover the payment on your Hyundai Accent. Then 4 or so years later you can try upgrading to a car you want but cant afford, have it reposessed for missing payments and end up with a clunker. BTW I made the last payment on my 99 Silverado today. Now I am saving for a down payment on a Red Bull X1.

    1. zsefbhuk.

Patriot5412 used his entire brain for that one. Unfortunately, the effort resulted in brain damage, so his posts will decline in quality of content from now on. A shame, every attempt at coherent thought, involving more than one word, will now bring him one step closer to brain death….

  86. WarriusZero

Very good update. No more duping, but to me it’s more important that the tires are now out of the PP equation.

  87. MicklePickle

Now it’s fair game for everyone!

ICD is a train that waits for no one, if you miss you car, you just have learn how to wait and be patient. It’s all in fairness.

    1. Eggman

Hahaha….what because you have to earn the cars now rather than have you’re little friends dupe and send you one because you can’t be arsed to get it yourself!!! Fail!

    2. Corey

No because I don’t want to grind for 20 minutes to buy a car (it’s 20 minutes now as opposed to 10 or 15 because they also nerfed payout for some stupid reason) and then buy a car that I really couldn’t be bothered to drive for more than 5 minutes. I have another account with 2M that I just buy and send cars from just to enjoy them for all of maybe 10 minutes than I take the game out. It is honestly NOT that fun to play for more than 15 minutes as it is, let alone making me buy overly expensive cars for no reason. You want to nerf trading X1s? Too bad.. everyone already has one

    1. Ech0Ambar1.

I do. And I used to refuse to trade with anyone I suspected of duping. I will not take part in such tom foolery. On the bright side, the refinement in 1.06 made driving without aids on a controller a more refined experience with the sensitivity setting. (:

  88. Tmac

I think what you dupers are looking for is a trading card game like pokemon, if you don’t pkay anyway but horde your treasures like jay leno what is the point? Quit whining or quit playing. It’s not like I can’t find 6.6 other people to play with online

  89. kalakanto

Dupers, now you got what you deserve. All the time you have mentioned how PD is thinking its okay to dupe because they allow it to continue. Things have now changed, isnt it? Now we can say for sure that you all dupers were cheaters in the game and nobody care less if you stop playing this marvellous peace of drivingart called GranTurismo5.

    1. White & Ragey

How does duping affect you? It didn’t hurt anything, and it should have been left alone. It should also be put back.

The restriction shouldn’t apply to standards either. Some people may never find the Veyron they want now. All they get in the OCD is ugly/bland stuff, and they can’t trade for the good ones anymore.

1M is an extremely badly thought out limit anyway. If they must try to control a player-created economy, just ban gifting of X2010s or something. Can’t imagine what they were thinking when they decided to stop people from trading for anything they’d actually want to trade for.

  90. James bond

Tooooo bad it’s a game where people should be able to do what they want with it. If there wasn’t online racing no one would see the fancy cars and complain. They give ya online racing , ya complain about wat others have and what you wish you had

  91. Tmac

the only people complaining are the dupers, I play the game as intended, I’m just happy every one is on an equal playing field

    1. pellepelle_10

So lets see. Let’s see how many times we can destroy the American champoinship for 97k credits so we can get all 400+ mil worth of cars. or how about we just put bob on a race while we do laundry. I’m still trying to understand why bob can win better cars than we can. Or better yet why the hell is there a bob? I personally don’t blame anyone for duping. This game rewards bob more than the user. Attention developers. Fix this garbage@!

  92. James bond

The people who say duping is gay definately never tried it or they wouldn’t be COMPLAINING . I’m sorry if there’s a good car in ucd and I don’t wanna lose every cent just for one for 1 Car to find a better car the next day grind for a mill and then find out ucd has switched.they shud be a hold list so I cud buy cars, and make money without losing them in ucd and have to spend 2days to make 1million $ for half the price of a car. Screw of complainers Wahh Wahh

    1. NIXTRIX5

Love the idea of being able to put a hold or a downpayment on a car in the UCD or OCD. I was thinking about that same thing for a while now. How do you go about getting that idea to PD?

  93. Tmac

I can’t say I’ve ever seen so much crying from people who are purposely abusing unintended game mechanics. Play the game and stop being such sore losers. The game rewards you the more time you invest into it, and by playing the way PD intended it, you would get your rare dream car, which you still can. However the lot of you screwed the pootch for the rest of us who play legitimately, and the feeling of satisfaction of getting rare or difficult cars

  94. AlphaAndius

Oh, heh, what a pity. PD finally hit us dupers where it hurts us, heh. Oh well, at least I got the majority of 75+ cars that are worth over 1,000,000 credits. Regretteably, none of them include the X2010 and it’s variants. (I do hope for a desired blue one when I win the Silver Vettel challange).

  95. Ying_yang_6o4

Some of the responses are so funny. So glad I never attempted to dupe and now can’t get my car back cuz it’s stuck on an alternate account lol!

  96. Special_K55

this actually sucks. yes i am some what a duper, but i wanted to send most of my racecars to a sub account so i have a bunch of brand new cars. damn this sucks

  97. SKOT Free

I’m glad they took out The car trading over 1,000,000 because frankly those using the feature 99% of them were cheaters anyway and anyone who doesnt Earn that XJ210 or that Formula Gran Turismo car and just trades a cheap car for it is a lazy Cheater! Period.

    1. Pyro6000

Yea, because it’s so hard to earn an X2010 by getting to level 35 B-Spec. Watching the game play for you.

It’s also really hard to rubber band the controller to do the Indy races for you on A-Spec with an X2010 to also let the game play for you.

You know who’s lazy? The game developer that decided to put in WAY too few races, with WAY too small of payouts while jacking the car prices WAY up. This doesn’t add replay-ability, it add pure simple mindless repetition.

Common sense and PD, oil and water…
      Oil and water…

  98. Smokescreen

wow… sentenced to a lifetime of grinding just to make use of even half the cars in the game. Way to go, Polyphony Digital. You truly know how to alienate your core fan base.

    1. AGTFan

You’re meant to earn the cars, start small end big. That’s what GT mode is all about and always has been. The fanbase is happy with that I’m sure, unless you’re talking about new fans?
It’s pretty fast to level up Bob too and make big bucks and gain XP in endurance races. Takes a week or so of keeping Bob busy (overnight)

  99. White & Ragey

    Wow… really?

I don’t think you really want to know what I wanted to write here.

Suffice it to say, we NEED someone to send a petition to the game developers, and we NEED the mods to not lock it. If we don’t, we can expect more things like this in the future.

    1. OldF@rt

Are you seriously saying that there should be a petition for PD not to block off outright abuse of the game system?

      ROFLMAO!!!

I’m happy to drive the cars I’ve gotten from the game because I’ve earned them fair and square (and, no, I haven’t done rubber-band A-spec grinding). How many cars do you need FFS????

    2. White & Ragey

Think about what happens when you want to collect the different colors of an expensive used car. YOU CAN’T! Wait for it to show up in the OCD again… which it never will. Definitely not in the color you wanted.

      UNLOCK TRADING! ARGH!

    3. apey75

The only thing you NEED is…. “Need for Speed”, or a similar childish title!

Seriously, it will make all your dreams come true!

  100. Adam t

Trading of rare expensive cars was fun but now it has been ruined…so sad. Also most rare cars are well over $1000000…game has been ruined:(

    1. Madman Apex

oh… you mean the game wasnt ruined before when you had to grind for weeks without end just to buy the only cars on the game worth driving.

  101. James bond

With the 1% of complainers who disagreed with duping got what they wanted and the 99% who didn’t give a f*** have to sit and take the bull.

  102. OMAR_NOS

mr yamauchi plz don’t stop me from collecting my favorite cars i have a good idea why don’t you put the trading system just like the one on GT PSP (every player select’s one car and when both players select the cars they both press agree and the cars could not be changed of course after they are selected). any one supporting my idea of haveing safe trading with no scams and duplicating?

  103. James bond

I’m sorry if there absolutely nothing to do now. And I actually have a life so I’m not gonna do endurance races. All there’s left to do is online. Yup tons of money . And especially now that they nerfed money earnings. It’s a game. Let me do wat I want with it.

  104. cohetedor

Thanks for the warning PD, I had my only FGT traded to my GTP account and now can’t get it back, also found out they’ve now limited trading to one trade per day per machine, not PSN account so those with multiple accounts are screwed.

I’m all for killing the duping, but they need to alter payouts to make up for it, there’s no way I’m grinding Indy 200 times for one car.

    1. pudge

Jim, yeah, I’m doing that … I can grind all day while at work, and make a million or so. It’s not bad, but it’s not ideal, either.

    1. OldF@rt

I think this will come – at present PD seem to be sorting out the bugs/design problems in the basic game. Once that looks good, I think they’ll shift their efforts to new content to use a then thoroughly sorted-out platform. (Spa, Bathurst, El Capitan for a start? ;-) )

I’m very encouraged by the last two updates – PD is listening to players (as opposed to cheating traders) and responding.

    2. Mike

@ChicoMaloXD – I guess you missed the part when they added seasonal events, effectively giving us an *infinite* amount of events to play

  105. Finch

Thanks PD, thanks for doing this on the exact night I was going to consolidate some of my extra account’s birthday cars into one account. Thanks for leaving me with a 2D, 2J, Ford mk IV, Ferrari 330 and Toyota 7 I CANT USE.

    1. lyme3m

“Thanks PD, thanks for doing this on the exact night I was going to consolidate some of my extra account’s birthday cars into one account. Thanks for leaving me with a 2D, 2J, Ford mk IV, Ferrari 330 and Toyota 7 I CANT USE.”

So you admit to creating multiple accounts with strategic birthdates to get birthday cars while trying imply you were something legit? Fail

    2. Finch

Duh, I don’t have time to buy those legitimately. Oh bummer, I’m ruining the single player progression….of my own game. It’s not like any of those cars are competitive or game breaking online, they are for collectors.

  106. mcfizzle

Lol at the dupers who won’t play anymore. So it wasn’t the driving aspect of the game you liked, it was just taking advantage of the trading system. If people traded legitimately they wouldn’t have restricted it. The dupers ruined trading, not PD.

    1. Reprogrammed

      THANK YOU!!!

They are just children who couldt win & own an X1 or 2000000 cr cars

      Aka noobies
      Lol

      NASCAR

LOLOLOL Xd im loling so much

    2. Corey

Actually Reprogrammed, I have had several friends who find the game lifeless, and boring. They want to see what the X1 hype was all about and really couldn’t be bothered to waste their time getting to level 30 to actually drive it. So I sent a few to them. It’s not that they’re children and couldn’t win it on their own, they don’t want to deal with the GAME because it’s not as good as it should have been to actually enjoy thoroughly

  107. Zenith013

    LOL at dupers

“This is the worst update ever! It fixed that exploit that I was using to make up for my lack of driving skill. You ruined the game by making us play it”

    1. ChicoMaloXD

GT5 doesn’t have enough events to “play” on. If the game had enough events no one would have had to dupe any cars…

If by playing you mean grinding… : (

    2. pudge

ChicoMaloXD has it right: it’s not about not being able to earn a few cars in the Events, it’s about being able to buy cars with money you’ve earned. It takes forever to win 20 million credits legitimately, and then when you get it, you blow it on a car, and then you grind to save up to buy another (which is no longer in the UCD, mind you).

Some of us have OCD and want to own all the cars and it’s simply not possible to do it without duping.

I still love the game … I just wish it were easier to make money so I could buy more cars without taking literal years to do it. Especially with only one new set of bonus races over the last few weeks …

    3. Mike

@ChicoMaloXD – I guess you missed the part when they added seasonal events, effectively giving us an *infinite* amount of events to play

    4. Sp1kestrip

I have three X1’s, and I earned them all. The challenge, B-Spec level 35, and I saved and bought the bright orange one from the dealership.

My friends don’t understand how I can sit in my PlaySeat and race for hours on end. I don’t get tired of driving. I do, however, get tired of driving the same races against the same cars for HUNDREDS of times in order to save enough to buy some of these ridiculously expensive cars.

We can’t sell the expensive cars. We don’t get much for online races. We can’t create courses that are worth much money. Even B-Spec remote racing all day from work doesn’t make much money. I’m all for a driving simulator, but grinding and playing are NOT the same. PD has got to give use more to play.

I’ve got gold in every single A and B spec race, and most of the special events. It’s fun to go back to the more challenging races and pick a car that’s barely able to keep up, but it doesn’t make me much cash. If PD wants me to spend as long playing the game as they did making it, I need more content.

    5. Sp1kestrip

@Mike 5 new events every week, or every three weeks lately, is not much. A penny a day is infinite money, but it won’t buy you much.

    6. pudge

@ Sp1kestrip: exactly. I have over 950 cars and I bought them all myself. I haven’t traded with or got gifts from anyone, ever. I’ve gifted a few cars to other people, though none of them were very expensive. I’ve only duped to avoid having to lose all my money on the expensive cars, because — silly me — I don’t want to grind my life away, and I want to get more cars.

I think on the one hand, Kaz doesn’t really get this: when GT for PSP came out, he said specifically that no one would ever be able to get all the cars. The game was designed that way. Maybe for GT5, it’s the same thing … but if so, then why have a trophy for getting 1000 cars?

      Anyway … it’s a damned shame, that’s all.

  108. James bond

Wow total boner kill. Well looks like im not gonna play this game ever again, and being so excited over the last update. Shame :(

    1. GT5_Honda_Guy

Let me know if you want to sell your copy. I have 4 PS3’s and only 3 copies of GT5, would love a fourth cope but don;t want to spend another $65 just yet.

    2. Anominous

Your never going to play GT5 ever again because of a small update? Everyone is so sad…but all they are trying to do is fix duping and X1s everywhere etc.

    3. VEYRON STANDARD? WTF

well i”m pissedd off that they added something perfect to online racing and decided to kkill it this week for no reason. Performance points need to be dependant upon tires. we already could do tire regulations and pp regs so why did they change it exactly? they really are retarded

  109. Cry me a river

@Sharkey why would any of us “Dupers” care…??

Now we just can’t dupe, but everyone we DID dupe for has there X2010’s as do i ;)

LOL boo sucks too you bro…

    1. Sharky

I couldn’t care less if I can trade cars valued at over a million cr. or not. Rather, I’m laughing my ass off at those of you who are now proclaiming GT5 is broken and a terrible game due to this update — which hasn’t changed the DRIVING mechanics one bit.

It’s called the Real Driving Simulator, not the Real Duping & Trading Simulator, y’know ;)

    2. GT5_Honda_Guy

Thumbs up to Sharky! Earn the cars, the whole thing is just, what it is…Not sure what else to say. And love the thrill of the drive!

    3. OldF@rt

Sharkey – agree with you 100%.

Part of the game was being abused – it’s been fixed. I never could see the point in trading cars unless you wanted a shortcut. (I got my X1 from Level 35 B-spec BTW)

PD are slowly but surely and methodically taking care of the problems in this DRIVING game.

    4. apey75

The only people that are emotional about 1.07 are the dupers! Why? Because you are hurting inside knowing that you can dupe no more and would now have to “drive” for your pretty little virtual cars. GT5 never had any other purpose to you.

Need for Speed awaits you fellas… :P

      Farewell!

    5. political a/s/s/wipe

@GT5 HONDA GUY. “earn the cars” ? u get a life. “its called the real driving SIMULATOR. not REAL LIFE DRIVING. sharky ur point is weak, and u are a pube. peace

    6. GT_Die_Hard

Get a life? So you are one of those dupers too and you’re mad because of this update. Well the point is that the game is officialy made to win races and earn credits, that you can spend on cars. I think its fun to win races and get cr. to buy an expensive car, and then doing even more races to buy even more expensive ones.

And BTW, sharky’s point is clear to me but not for a duper like you.

    1. damaged_case

      @matty
tell him to share it online.
i mean it sucks that you can’t get your car back from your brother and back into your garage, but with the Share With Friends now letting us drive those shared cars… you can still drive it whenever you want. and apply your own tunes to it.

pretty much goes for everybody with the “i gifted my car to a friend/relative and can’t get it back now.” or even with sub-accounts. just share the damn cars. problem solved.

    2. Delphic Reason

Agreed. It was a great way to be part of the community, and achieve vehicles that some of us just don’t have the time to grind for. I work 2 jobs, moderate, and study… I definitely do not have the time to grind for a 20,000,000 vehicle. Thanks to this update, Some of those cars I will never have. Brilliant PD.

  110. Roushyates

Way to ruin this game guys! I mean some of it already was stupid now this?! Man I can’t wait for NASCAR the game it’s looks 10000000000x better and damage is INCREDIBLE and physics=AMAZING no disappointments for that game

    1. Josh

Ha. That damage is incredible if you want your cars to randomly rust or look like they are made of paper and just got lit on fire.

      Kids these days.

    2. GT5_Honda_Guy

I love GT5, not sure what all the complaining is about…They always say you can please some of the people some of the time, but not all of the people all of the time. My only question, can we hear more from the pleased people and a lot less from the displeased? :)

    3. Reprogrammed

      @Roushhyates

      Hey, shutup

      NASCAR Is boring
      Played once

      & tried it in GT5
      Because its GT5

Just because Gt5 got dumb rowdy silly NASCAR Involved you kids want NASCAR to be perfectly made just for GT5

Go play Fake for Speed Turbo Nos 2

      :)

    4. TofuDrifter

Why would you want a NASCAR video game anyway ? its the LAMEST form of racing on the planet by about ,.,, well ,10000000000x and is the WORST part of GT5 and NASCAR fans= IGNORANT TRAILER TRASH , it sucks to be a racing fan of real motosport here in the states :( we used to have F1 here downtown Detroit, but they took that away in the 80’s, no WRC either

    5. Roushyates

Wow u guys are pretty pathetic bet ur just jealous u can’t drive a NASCAR car probly suck at life too and have like a smart car this game sucks ok we all know it u hit the wall and u go air borne seriously I never see that happen in any type of racing so maybe the should make this site for ppl over 16

  111. MoLieG

They don’t give us what we want and they give us what we don’t want… brilliant… -_-

    Already waiting for Shift 2…

    1. IDCI

Theyve should fix this by not letting gift from the same ip adress and allowing to report someone who scams a car. This 1M limit is good news but could be better

  112. Sharky

Abuse the system and eventually you will suffer the consequences. Bet you lot are wishing you weren’t duping X1s left, right and centre now are you? ;)

    1. LoL

no, we’re glad we already did before this took effect, i’ve got a stable of $1,000,000+ cars, people like you are now the ones left out, sucks for you.

    2. Madman Apex

i earned both my X1s. Silvering the challenges and B-spec lvl35. Oddly enough PD gives you a free X1 just in time for a 24hrs race that will make you massacre an entire daycare class if your B-spec bobs just happen to loose. worry free for 24hrs.

    3. dolson222

Abuse what system. It just added another cool part to the game for people wanting to collect stuff. No one was hurt by it and if you got screwed in a trade then its still just a game that money can be easily made back and cars purchased/traded. In my experience I never had a problem and now I can try out cars that I never would have been able to access without a lot more time wasted. And to be fair isnt the point of this game to be able to drive real cars with real physics in a worry free environment that in the real world you wouldnt even be able to see or breathe on, much less touch and drive. Cmon guys. As GT Academy proved they will listen if the cry for a fix is loud enough.

    4. Delphic Reason

What does it matter to you or anyone else if people are duping cars? If you don’t want to do it, don’t do it. It’s asinine that people care so much about something that doesn’t effect them.

    5. graytotoro

On a related note, I was gifted a X-1 at some point but haven’t redeemed it yet. Don’t think I will as I want to earn it.

    6. GT5-PROTO

      @dolson222
Completely agree, and this is what made this game a complete turn off with this update. People need to realize making credits in this game isn’t easy, and the majority of players I bet do not have the time to invest to grind it out. What’s wrong if someone is willing to pay money on ebay or go to an Online marketplace to find the car they want? Wasn’t that the point of this game? Isn’t that why there are 1000 cars in the game? Sure if you fidn a friend willing to share, but there’s a difference between driving a shared car online and having one in your own garage offline. IMHO, people who say that duping ruined the game need to get their heads checked, we all paid good real money for the game didn’t we?

@LoL, so true, my garage has about 200 cars valued at over $1M which I’m not ashamed to say I obtained via duping, good luck to anyone else who wants to accomplish the same now by grinding for credits. I’m sure maybe in 6 months if you do even come close, I will have enjoyed each and every one of those cars fully when you finally get to “earn” them.

    1. VEYRON STANDARD? WTF

same here. not only did they ruin trading but worst of all they killed online racing. they just made online racing amazing with performance points and now they killed it. performance points are now utterly usesless

  113. Dracwolley

I agree that it does make sense, but a lot of the time, the cars to be gifted or traded are over 1,000,000 Cr…. making trading basically useless. Not many people want to trade a civic for a focus, if you know what I mean. We’d rather a 2J for an XJ13 or something… so they had good intentions but they should have looked at our forums for better ideas than this.

    1. Rx8fanboy

They should of had a better idea because I traded my 908 HDi FAP to my friend and now he can’t trade it back
      Great

    2. LiveFr0mNY

I bet they did look at the GTP forums. Why do you think they put the limit??

PD does not care for the trading game we have created here. Gift feature was not meant for this.

    1. scoop2004

So… I think PD should sort a proper trading system where people who are friends in the game can send a car to a friend in exchange for the friend paying x credits

    2. political a/s/s/wipe

this is the most retarded restriction. now HOW AM I GOING TO GET MY X1 WHICH I TRADED MY CITROEN GT FOR? 5600000Cr. They just effin robbed my a/s/s/.

    3. LiveFr0mNY

Trading marketplace died the day people started duplicating cars. Its not trading if you dont have to give anything up. Took all the fun out of the marketplace…

  114. RPM

This is cool.. Tires is not included anymore in PP . But actually I am now happy with the 485 PP that I usually regulate that ranges to 300hp , 1160 kg , Sports Tires (Integra DC5) Maybe I will just lower the PP regulation but still the same hp like before. :) Good update even it’s just few

    1. OzzyOsborne

      their (Þâr) adjective
The possessive form of they. Used as a modifier before a noun: their accomplishments; their home town.Usage ProblemHis, her, or its: “It is fatal for anyone who writes to think of their sex”(Virginia Woolf).

    2. Brendon

LOL@OzzyOsborne. Like the cheater is going to have some kind of impact. Reminds me of the “LEAVE BRITTANY ALONE” guy from youtube. XD

  115. Chikane

This is my favorite part of this new update
    * [Other Changes]- Cars worth over 1,000,000 Cr. (including gift car coupons) are now prohibited from being traded to prevent issues during the trading process. When lending and borrowing cars between friends, please use the car loan system. * -_-

    1. The Correcter

You should say: …are prohibited from being “GIFTED” ! Trading is a disease caused by the Market-Place in this big GTPlanet world, I don’t blame you, you wanted to make it easy…but when users abuse, $hit happens.
      Cheers miss v1.07

    2. Yeehaaa

Not as happy as I’ll be when some of your expensive cars your worked so hard for morph into another car. That bug has been reported and as of yet not addressed.

    3. EricW

Well, this should put a stop to people selling expensive cars in GT5 on Ebay. I can’t believe that people will actually pay to have someone gift them a car.

    4. VEYRON STANDARD? WTF

yea this update is completely retarded. the worst is the performance points thing. WE ALREADY COULD DO TIRE RESTRICTIONS AND PERFORMANCE POINTS RESTRICTIONS!!!!! Not everybody has the tires that everyone else will use, on every single car. Perfeormance points were the only way to get around it. They enabled you to use more of your own cars and still be competitive, now they ruined that. I’m not happy at all about this. Guess I’m gonna have to load up on racing soft because nobody online uses everything different because they have no skill to use even sports tires

    5. Migvt

I don’t like this update because i do play often and make plenty of money bit have friends who barley play but i like to be able to keep it competitive and use the same cars in races so i ocassionaly buy expensive cars i already have to be able to race the same car but naow i can’t do that anymore (duped the x1)

    6. Neutrino

I’ve borrowed Toyota 7 racing car to my friend before update. How am I gonna get it back! This update sucks! I hate the freedom that some wants to control. POLYPHONY DIGITAL SHAME ON YOU!

    7. Aces & Eights

Why don’t they start worrying about the lack of quality in the Standard cars.(Convert them to premium please) Especially the American Classic Muscle Cars that there are few of. Worry about people abusing the game after you make it better enjoyable for us.

    8. Ferrari

      This patch is utter useless

And here I was hoping they would remove the stupid 1car/24 hour

      nope
I was completely wrong, they indeed made it worse

I’ve lost respect for you Polyphony… This is probably the worse patch to have ever come on a game.
because patches are meant to fix games not to make them look silly and stupid
