Gran Turismo 5 Will Be Coming in 2010

GT5 received brief mention at Sony’s large press event at the Game Developers Conference 2010 today. While the focus of the show turned out to be Sony’s new motion controller, it was “confirmed” the company’s biggest racer will be released in 2010. Of course, for anyone who’s been paying attention, this isn’t exactly a surprise, but it should calm any lingering fears that remained after the game’s Japanese March date was postponed.

Sony also said to watch for their 3D technology to be pushed later this year – new functionality that I suspect will be closely tied and promoted with GT5

GT5 has had about 4 other “CONFIRMED” dates in the past
At this rate GT6 will come out before GT5

  2. danielwhite74

Regarding those denying this, notice that it does say GT5 has been CONFIRMED as a 2010 release title.

Haha Now That’s Funny BWX.. Don’t get frustrated over Feedback’s on your post’s M8, we all have from time to time Emptied the Backpack for build up Shiese, It was your turn..

But Honesty and all that nice traditions, is for the passed time of the human nature, we are in a new sad area of Human developing/evolution, and Honesty and Honor is almost lost there..

    * US Finance & capitalism is the religion for all companies and it has reached the rest of the world now, PD is owned by Sony and it’s in several countries not only JP.. K.Y is working for Sony it’s not the other way around ? so your point isn’t worth the words you wrote Sorry M8, I wish it was But No!! K.Y is trapped in this forsaken release I think.. Give him some credit all of you!! He is the one that is sweating all day long through this waiting!! Peace out.. Summer is near !!

Damn! :O) How did I get so positive suddenly!! Beats me, maybe you guys! have the answer.. :P

  4. Ghost_Dice

This is Sad, disapointing,Depressing and down right ASS. but hey if its out its out.
The day I putt it in my PS3 and start it up, first thing I will do is actualy check that im not dreaming. then i will be unavalible for the next +- 24 hours playing it. !!

  5. BWX

Gran Turismo Vet, you are mistaken. Games are not meant for playing. Games are meant for companies to use their popularity to push gimmicky technology so the company can make more money on something nobody wants. The best PS3 race sim just got caught in big fat 3D sh1tst0rm, and because of that we all have to wait to buy the game. Weak!

  6. Gran Turismo Vet

It went from fall 09 to fall 10 W T F!? I don`t give a flying %$*# about 3D GIVE ME THE GAME, I WANNA PLAY, THAT`S WHAT GAMES ARE FOR!!!!!

  7. TOLL~Scibba~HRT

last year kaz said gt5 will be out in japanese around about march 29 i think. is still going to happen?

  8. jerzyk17

Hello, I’m such a question as to the Gran Turismo with Logitech G25 and will be able to adjust to a smaller degree turn? because in the Prologue goes tragically at 900 degrees and you can not change this

  9. BWX

Yes I’ll still buy GT5 when it comes out. Yes I bought my PS3 for things other than GT5. Yes my post was a little “over the top”. NO I’m not pissed off because of the wait I am pissed off because the LIES. No I really don’t care that much about a video game but enough to spend 18 seconds writing a post expressing my level of agitation on a website ABOUT the game just as all you chucklheads are. On a related note, yes I DID watch “Letters from Iwo Jima” just before making my “over the top post” and if you don’t like my post I don’t care -don’t read it. Opinions are like tailpipes, everyone has one -yours is no more or less important than anyone elses whether it is more popular or not. I believe Trinity put it best, “if you don’t like it… I believe you can go to hell.”

  10. dearlybeloved

@Hernan…. “So, Shame on you Kazunori Yamauchi, you have make good games in the past and probably GT5 will be great but you are a teasing bastard.” The last few words starting at “but you are a teasing bastard had me laughing out loud. Just wasn’t expecting you to cuss the man.

  11. Flagmo-T

@namey Haha, That was a good one M8, But actually the SLim version doesn’t support any OS system, or even PS2, Hehe Sony has incorporated a secret Dead Peasant control, after 2 years (guaranty) it will stop working, or when GT5 finally hit the stores, it’s sudden death for all PS3’s, or only next PS3 version can Play GT5, or ? – well anything can happen these days, if Sony is involved ((O_o))

ps.. All this i wrote is just for Fun, don’t believe it !!

  12. dot_gone

GRID looking better all the time – and it’s here and I can use my G25 for something other than just DIRT2 ;)

  13. TokyoDrift

@Me.Switch, I seem to recall that you were the one who called people stupid for buying a PS3 “just for one game, that isn’t even out yet”. So, if you don’t like being called the same, I suggest you be more careful in your choice of words next time.

Clearly you never assume anything, nor do you appear to use a bit of common sense. I know a few people who bought a PS3 for GT5…does than mean they don’t enjoy other games in the meantime and have £425 worth of launch PS3 just sat there? :o/

  14. archides

Yeah right. When October comes around there will be issues getting 3D to work properly in the game, and things will fall behind schedule. Then it will get pushed to “Early 2011”.

“So youre alright being lied to, I`m not simple as that. No one does this as Sony/PD does, they just go completely overboard with this.”

As i said before, i am lied (or fooled) almost everytime i see advertisement in papers/tv/internet…
I am not alright with that but the only way i can handle this without being disappointed is to ignore actual advertisement and in my opinion we may could achive a diversification in general advertisement if the most of us would do the same.
But maybe i am wrong with that and my expectations to advertisement/marketing are not welcome.

Sorry for parts in bad english.

    “Endless bickering…..

Its out when its out, simple as that.

Its not the waiting, its the lying; how hard is that to understand!

“Never trust in marketing and promotion stuff!”

So youre alright being lied to, I`m not simple as that. No one does this as Sony/PD does, they just go completely overboard with this.

  19. joe

Release dates mean nothing anymore. I will only believe it when the game is on the shelf. PD has shown itself to be completely untrustworthy over the years.

  20. Wheel Nut

    Endless bickering…..

Its out when its out, simple as that.
No other driving game promises to be quite like it so sorry but tough luck.
    We all have to wait.

Additionally Sony HQ decide when it releases not PD or Kaz.
Sony could of been feeding us crap for so long already knowing when its date for release really was going to be. Id say yes an extension was given or Sony said to PD okay also implement “whatever” and take more time to develop.

So many factors involved with such a title and people here dont realise this is probably the biggest most importand game launch for Sony to date. Whats important is the work and effort that seems to of gone into the title.

Perhaps when it does arrive, it actually does set a new benchmark.

Even then it wont please everyone no matter how great it is in certain areas people will always moan at other areas.

  21. Me.Switch

    @Flagmo-T
I do not call anybody a fool and never did and i am no “defender of waiting”(nice expression;) ) and it has nothing to do with being a wise guy.
Have you bought a ps3 just because of GT5 and regret your purchase because GT5 is still not in stores? No you didnt! You had some additional reasons and as i can hear you do not regret.
And to answer your question: “Of course i am prepared^^”

  22. Me.Switch

    @Racer28
“because unlike you there are REAL fans”
Funny that you think you’re able to determine that i am no REAL fan. You’re wrong!
A real fan is not interessted weather the game takes 3,4,5 or 6 years to hit the stores, a real fan is not going to say: “It takes too long i am not going to buy it!”. a real fan is not interessted in marketing. Just my opinion.
And believe me i know how marketing works, i know the mechanisms and all i say is that we as consumers should not make the whole thing this easy and just believe in every statement of marketing and cry if they “lied”. We will always run from one disappointment into another.Every advertisement in TV “lies”. I also bought a ps3 cause of GT,FF,MGS my alltime favourites of videogames. But if those would have been the only reasons to buy a ps3 i wouldn’t buy it before the games(or at least one of them) hit the stores. To me the waiting for GT also feels like a pain in the ass, but waiting is over when i put my copy of GT into my ps3 and not when marketing says:”GT5 comes blablabla…”. We know this for years, the same with gt3,4 almost every FF-part…and so on. TV says: “It only does everything”, it is a lie! Are you disappointed? Ok i lose the thread….
Never trust in marketing and promotion stuff!

  23. namey

“I am prepared when i finally arrives, are you ?”

let’s hope that it does arrive soon enough, or should I say, before the self destruct switch (otherwise known as YLOD) on your PS3 goes off forcing you to buy a new ps3.

  24. Flagmo-T

Juuuhuuuuu Defenders of the waiting :O)

I Bought My PS3 and Race setup & 40″ – ps3eye for playing GT-HD -GT5p and GT5 That’s it.. SO don’t tell me that I’m Fool, because then you are just acting like the other kind of people you are talking/dishing about!! GET IT!! Thank you!! ” I had some extra money at the time, and i spend it on that, because i knew that the future wasn’t so great money wise and i was right” and I am prepared when i finally arrives, are you ?

For other kind of Games I used my power PC on the same 40″, which was enough. But actually I don’t even do that anymore, because I’m soon to be 50 years old, so stop being such wise guy’s all the time..

The game arrives in the future ? (201x), I just hope that my life hasn’t change so much, that I’m not able to play it as I use too.. But that’s just me.. and to be honest, Sony couldn’t give a rats azz, if they loose me or you in the waiting :O)

At least I Can watch GT5 HD youtube replays uploads from you guys on the Net in the Future..

And Ya it’s only a Game ( I don’t think that K.Y – GTplanet has the same meaning about that) But Still it’s only A game, But still you see lots of the same people playing 3-8 hours a day and talking on this Forum, so Is it just a Game, not for every one i guess!! GTPlanet don’t think it’s just a Game, Do you ? Don’t think so, you seem to spend so much Time on it, that it’s a kind of living isn’t it!! GT-series is a Hobby, and hobbies seems to stick for a long time, hell in some cases it could last for a life time!! Get real :| Humans are addicted to the Hobby they choose, so don’t dish them….

I could go on, and on but i think you get the picture now!! :o) we are all in the same Boat, but we come form different places, and that’s healthy for all of us.. GTplanet Rules <- But it's just a hobby.. Ohhh man why am I doing this!! ? Ohh wau the Sun is shining ((( See ya ))) the door slams. !

Financial Times released an article yesterday covering “new racing videogames”. Quote

Sony has sold over 55 million copies of its “Gran Turismo” racing simulation franchise worldwide. Its newest title, “Gran Turismo 5,” will be available for PlayStation 3 users this autumn and introduces NASCAR to its garage of racing vehicles

  26. Racer28

  27. squishydk

ebgames in my country got a sony letter with a date of 2nd sep 2010. Ofc its not 100% sure as per usual, but i reckon its a pretty safe bet its gonna be in that area.

  28. Racer28

    @Me.Switch

When they advertise and hype gran turismo at launch of ps3, giving the impression that its “just around the corner”, do you think thats for fun? Its of course to sell consoles, because unlike you there are REAL fans. They sell consoles on a lie, and that may be okay for you, but not for people they sold those consoles on a lie to.

  29. m & m

    Anybody heard about “PlayStation Move”

, it will release on the 3rd season with other game. As we know that, it is possible to use the same system for the GT5.

So, I guess it is possible to guess the release period now:-

    Before 3rd Season
    After 3rd Season

if it is Before 3rd Season, then “PlayStation Move”will become a option.
if it is After 3rd season, then “PlayStation Move” will probably be one kind of the bundle pack with the game.

it would be fun if i can see the other cars by moving my neck.

and anybody know something about 3d TV with gt5 ?

i guess it would not become ture until gt6.

  30. Me.Switch

    @sprint
It was a mistake to use the word foolish, i see.
I had no intention to spit on anybody.

    @TokyoDrift
    1. I assume nothing, you assume and you didn’t quite catch what i said!
    2. If somebody says he bought a ps3 “just because of GT5″…well whatever but it sounds like it was the ONLY reason, you say there are (a lot of) other reasons why you bought a ps3, so there’s a big difference , don’t you think so?
    3. I excuse myself (again) for using the word foolish, but nevertheless to me it’s nonsense to complain about the missing release of GT5 in relation to the purchase of a PS3.
    4. “leave this news article and the related comments, and go suck your thumb elsewhere”
I thought there’s no problem if i comment on an other comment and represent my point of view. I didn’t mean to offend anybody like you did (“Idiots like yourself “), but i will remember your words…

  31. Anthony

So what exactly does “confirmed” mean? They mentioned GT5 in a list along with other games expected to release late this year? Or they directly said “Gran Turismo 5 will be released worldwide in 2010”? Either way it clearly doesn’t mean squat, just curious if they even said it directly or not. I heard there’s good sim for other consoles and PC’s though…. still not a single decent sim racer for my apparently giant P.O.S. PS3.

  32. TokyoDrift

@Me.Switch, you know what I’m so sick and tired of? Idiots like yourself who assume that just because somebody says they bought a PS3 for GT5, that is the ONLY reason they bought it. FFS, are you really so naive?

I bought a PS3 at launch because of the GT franchise (so yeah, GT5). However, I also bought it to play other exclusives too, but the primary reason was GT, knowing that it would eventually be coming out. Why should I deny myself the pleasure of playing other games just because the one major game I want is not out yet?

Honestly, take the advice from sprint above – leave this news article and the related comments, and go suck your thumb elsewhere.

  33. sprint

@Me.Switch “I am so sick and tired of such foolish behavior, sorry.”

Then, don’t read those comments. The sense isn’t universal dude, so please stop spitting on other fans.

By the way, the info that the game is gonna come out this year makes poeple talk… Talk about nothing concrete. I think Sony will doubt the day when no one will talk anymore about his little baby.

  34. gt3luke

The funny thing is that when GT5 is really released.Everybody is talking about how great the game is and they all forget the long waiting. We’ll have to wait. But when it’s released we got some hell of a game.

  35. Me.Switch

There is something i read a lot of times when people start complaining about GT5 and its release and i am really sick of it:

    “…blablabla…. bought a PS3 at launch for GT5……blalbalbalba….”

Stop it! It is soooo stupid! Who the **** is going to buy a console because of a game which hasn’t been released??? Thats nonsense! If i want to buy a console just because of one game…a buy the console when the game hits the stores and NOT earlier.

I am so sick and tired of such foolish behavior, sorry.

  36. GTP_Sphinx

    @BWX,
I enjoyed reading your posts here. Honour and heritage, way to go over the top with your frustrations. Classic!

In the scheme of things, those who are very clearly stating that they will not buy the game due to delays (although I suspect many will regardless) are just a blip compared to the millions who will buy the game when it’s released. Those millions, I’m sure, are currently carrying on enjoying their lives with others things without hardly a single thought about the game, and will no doubt buy the game when it’s released to further their enjoyment. They certainly wouldn’t be posting nonsense on a GT news blog.

  37. BWX

Bob you stfu- they are liars. I don’t care if it’s a lie about a video game or your mother. Heritage has to do with everything over there. Duh. The liars are a disgrace. Beyond that no one believes a word they say anymore, that’s not good for the fans or business. People are sick of having this company take them for gullible fools. Well besides you, I guess you like it..

  38. R. Tomachi

ear after Forza 2), now here we are years later and it seems like GT5 will be released a full year after Forza 3, when the game was inicially promised by Kazunori to be released few months after Forza 2.

bitching isnt gonna move the game any faster. It will come out when they release it. In the meantime try to occupy your time other than sitting speculating and throwing temper tantrums about it. GT5 will be out and I garuntee everyone will forget about the wait as they play the game in aww of the beauty and what a masterpeice it turned out to be

  40. Hernan

@Jeepers: Totally agree with you, Forza is awesome and GT too, problem is we have been waiting for GT for soo long and Kaz teased us with the release dates.

I still remember when the whole “Forza 3 is going to be released before GT5” was just a ridiculous fanboy joke (like a year after Forza 2), now here we are years later and it seems like GT5 will be released a full year after Forza 3, when the game was inicially promised by Kazunori to be released few months after Forza 2.

    The whole thing sucks.

  41. Ner0_sol03

Actually there serious this time… The game wil be out before November.. Cause they no if we wait anylonger the game will not sell very good. And when gt6 is goin to get announce evryone will just take it as a joke… So yea the games coming out this year

  42. Starscream_

Been reading some these comments and they are hilarious. Waiting really sucks but the game will come when it comes…

  44. Bob

Stfu bwx and get a life. Just listen to your god damn self. What the hell does honor or heritage have to do for a game? It’s entertainment, not a war you dumbass.

  45. Racer28

Its amazing how they drive the GT brand in the ditch! Sony/PD should be a little worried now. Out of 5 friends I have waiting for this game (though not as much as me), they all say they are not going to get it, they are tired of waiting. They all bought a PS3 at launch for this, it has almost become a principle not buying it since they feel lied to. Now they`ve started racing with gtr and rfactor on pc instead.

    Sad.

  46. Jeepers

Wow, so much hate for FM3, when its undoubtedly superior due to the only fact that it’s been out for 5 months already, while GT5 is nowhere fathomable. I’ve been playing it since release, ( I’ve had all the Forzas as well as all GT games), and it satisfies my racing fix… faults and all.

GT5 will undoubtedly be awesome, but there WILL be faults, all of you expecting a perfect game are fools… someone will always find something wrong with it. What just killed interest for this game at least for me its this long butt wait and teases and nice vids but no play time for us, and that at this point is unacceptable

  47. DV

    @ewokchoo,
i read the link and some of the points made were good, and I found some of them as I played the game my self. I haven’t made the AWD vs RWD comparison yet, but I’ll try it to see what I find. But at least the Porsche 997 GT2 I drive runs very nice and it’s a RWD car. Let’s see how it goes with other cars.
Still, I don’t think FM3 sucks because, altough is not perfect, still fun and drives very real (at least for the cars I have tried).

  48. Jessie

This is as entertaining as the second coming of Christ!
What gets me is all these events by sony for the game, gt academy and the like, obviously the game is finished they’re just ‘fine tuning’ stupid parts of the game. all i want are a few different cars in each class, all of the tracks possible and online racing, nothing more… nothing less….
don’t care for drifting, don’t care for gt tv, or probably half the stuff they’ll have, and i bet you there won’t be day or night, there just isn’t anything to support that idea. polyphony has been infamous in saying what their gt will have and then not even implement it in any way or fashion.
im a bit of a perfectionist myself, theres nothing wrong with waiting for a masterpeice, but im not a compulsive liar who think people only want to hear what they want to hear…

  49. BWX

I believe nothing. All this so called “news” is complete and total BS. Here’s what I have to say to Sony and PD: STFU — Way to piss off your fans morons! Lie some more, we might believe you next time. Do you think all your customers and fans are gullibility idiots? Isn’t there something in the Japanese culture that says honor is imortant?? Well, Sony and PD, you are a disgrace to your honorable culture and your ancestors who actually took thier heritage seriously. You liars should be ashamed of yourselves. The whole GT series is leaving a bad taste in my mouth after all the BS and lies. Act like grownups for a change and tell the truth.

  50. Strop

  51. Corrado

    @blackjack

And ive also realised that this 3D malarcky is gonna be gtpsp all over again, concentrating on that rather than the real thing, and pushing the release date back as a result. Would “Short attention span” be a good way to describe it?

  52. blackjack

“Pffft, 2010 my arse, they dont seem to realize that we as fans have lost all trust in them.”

couldn’t agree more, all things considered, to think they can get away with telling us “2010” is an absolute joke. If GT5’s game structure flops like the GT PSP effort* then PD and Kaz are going to look like fools.

*I realise that the PSP was a new platform, but it doesn’t excuse the game structure they used which was dissapointing to say the least.

  53. Shokz

“1. GT5 was the first 3DTV game demonstrated was it not at CES in 2009”

I believe i saw WipEout HD shown off in 3D before Gran Turismo 5, but it was certainly in that batch.

  54. Hernan

@gt5pr0 ,the problem is Kazunori and his mouth, the guy doesnt know how to handle the information that give to the fans, he started to talk about GT5 just a bit after GT4 release, he gave us lots of diferent time frames (and he continue doing it). He doesnt learn about this at all, after he has fail guess a date by 3 years he said in a interview that GT6 is expected shortly after GT5, like 2 years after that he said.
Come on Kaz! you failed your own prediction by 3 years and keep failing year after year.

I dont think the big issue is that is taking 5 years, the problem is that we have been teased after the first year.

Look at Dragon Age for example, the original announcement was in 2004, they never said a date, they showed a few screens and then silence, because the development had some changes (like GT5 too, obviously), then in year 2009 the came out of nowhere and reannounce the game, month later they release the game and its a great game, all of this without teasing the fans of Bioware RPG. Thats the big difference here, the waiting was much easier.

So, Shame on you Kazunori Yamauchi, you have make good games in the past and probably GT5 will be great but you are a teasing bastard.

  55. Corrado

Its ironic the way polyphony are hoping to get more hype and excitement over the game by delaying it so much, but now they dont realise that theyve done it so much that people are just losing interest completely, rather than hoping for when it would be released. Its now having an opposite effect; it’s not people getting more and more excited, its just more and more people who simply can’t be f***** anymore :|

  56. Alex p.

Hmmm, I usually don’t like commenting on this subject, but I just have to say that I’m SERIOUSLY pissed with all this release date dilemma. JUST RELEASE THE DAMNED GAME! I don’t care if it’s perfect, I really do not care what it has or hasn’t, I know it has enough for NOW and the things which aren’t added yet, they can add as DLC or 1-2 years later as GT6.
I really feel fooled by PD and/or Sony, the only reason I bought a PS3 and the only game I like to play for longer than two days (I have F1, GTA4, Killzone2 and tried Heavy Rain and others), but there’s just now game, which can entertain me longer than 1-2 days, man Sony sucks.
If they do not give us a solid release date at E3 I’LL STOP VOSITING THIS SITE FOR AT LEAST A MONTH and than only 1 time a week or even less. (although I really like the community here, it’s great :))

  57. CeeJay

Bwahahahahahaaa!!! That’s funny. Thanks for the laugh, Sony! 2010? Yeah right! Can’t wait for E3 to see another video of a car driving around Tokyo R246! XD

  58. DV

    @S3 Racer,

“FM3 is funny and that’s it, don’t compare it to GT. that’s an insult for gt to be compared to that. Compare FM3 to NFS:S”

Care to point specifics about why FM3 cannot be compared to GT5?

  59. James

Just like Call of Duty completely toppled EA’s Medal of Honor, when we all thought Medal of Honor was untoppable; the GT empire is damn lucky it has no competitior (on PS format at least).

That is the reason we are all reading this board, waiting!

  60. Zmann42087

Gran Turismo HD… Gran Turismo 5 Prologue… still waiting.. still waiting… watch PD just abandon Gran Turismo 5 altogether and start to work on Gran Turismo 3D. Polyphony Digital has a knack for starting things they never finish.

if this game dosnt come out this year im going to write a letter!
and express my anger to who ever reads its!!! :@!

  62. JVH1982

Well, they’ve nailed it down to a 9 month window. I suppose that’s something. I’m more or less indifferent as to when the game is released; what I do not appreciate is all the misinformation, continuously changing release dates. It seems that only in the game market does this sort of thing go on unpunished. There should be some sort of accountability. If a company publicly states that a game will be released at a specific time, then they should be held responsible for that time. If, indeed, it does need to postpone, then it should have equal responsibility in stating a follow-up release date. Instead, we get “We finished our game, but our marketing team doesn’t want to place it right now, so, we have no idea when you’ll see it on a shelf”. If its done, sell it. What company in their collective ‘right mind’ would complete a product and sit on it for months waiting for ‘who knows what’… less competition? GT5, if it’s even half of what they say it is, will have NO COMPETITION! There isn’t another racing sim out there, much less a competitive racing game being released. :rant off:

  63. ralph89

Why 3D in GT5? Why? The head tracking is perfect enough, why make the players puke in their sofa while playing GT5? I like 3D Movies, but putting it in a video game is just stupid. I hope they sell a separate GT5. Standard GT5 and 3D GT5 (which will probably sell less than 50k, I hope). Sony is really messed up after hiring some dumb ass this gen. They were doing fine back in PS2 days.

    Business 101 for Sony

Don’t fire your smart employee you idiots.

  64. uzz30_driver

My prediction since 2008 has been March 2010, and I was amazed at my guess when the March 31st date was announced. Since then, I’ve lost all confidence and don’t expect we’ll have it until at least November or December, if not early 2011.

  65. dudezi

Best Buy (Canada) is saying it’s going to arrive in their warehouse on the 31st of May.

Almost certain BS. Probably just want people visiting the site.

  66. skidmark

It is becoming a bit tedious, you would have thought they could have at least given a month or even told us if it is indeed going to be summer or fall 2010?

How long is E3? Surely the release date must be given to us then.

  67. FORZA_SUCKS

    @the haters
for the last 10 years GT is the only game i play. i dont play little kiddie games. so when u spend $600 on a gaming rig and $300 more on a steering wheel for 1 game, it can make u a little upset when u’ve waited this long. SO STOP HATIN’ on us that just want to c this game in our life time

  68. James

I am going to say a phrase I have not said since school, whilst stroking my chin, some 15 long years ago…..

    “Chineee wrekon….”

I care more about deep sea plankton than 3DTV.

  69. maxpontiac

I am seriously laughing at all the posts that make it seem like a video game controls their very life or death.

People shouldn’t hinge so much on a hobby.

  70. doblootje

not expecting anything anymore GT concerned. I’ll buy it sometimes when it is a budgettitle. this game has been overhyped by nothing, all we see is the same as GT4, except some nicer graphics. they really have to pull something out of their hat to bring back that GT Magic again.

The trailer and news doesn’t even get me excited anymore……

Thanks GT for me falling in love with other games ;)

  71. Erajormamias

I STRONGLY suspect that GT5 will be released more or less together with the Sony’s 3D technology. Hmm… I hope my Samsung 2233RZ & nVidia 3D glasses work with GT5 :D

  72. adam

I’m just tried of the bs and lies. I couldn’t care less if they said it was being released 30th december 2010 as long as they were true to their word.

  73. Mr Latte

    Ah right my bad

I thought Sonys PS3 offering 3DTV games and particulary GT5 would of been one reason to consider buying a 3DTV early. Oh lets forget that PS3 will also offer Blu Ray 3D playback as well and nobodys interested in 3D Movies at home then, pah.

Just as PS3 was as reason for many to buy a HDTV I dont see much difference with this 3DTV happening.

  74. IlikebigbuttsandIcannotlie

    2010?
    2 0 1 0 ?
    2 0 1 0 ?

That will completely ruin my speculation of the game to be out in 2098.
    And I am rarely wrong.

  75. Flagmo-T

Ya.. to think that we would buy a new 3DTV to race GT5 is plain stupid, I wouldn’t even considering having a 3Dtv…(wait a couple of years, and the price is low) STupid stupid..

    * I have 3 flat-screens TV in the House and in great quality and size, and I will NoT support Sony’s bank account any more besides buying GT5.. That’s It I’m Full Of the wallstreet finance world b.u.ll.sh.iT Problems.. Enough is enough!! The fun thing is, that I play other Fine Sims already, and as for now they are much further into the future then GT5 is (100% Graphics isn’t all friends), and will be when it’s finally released..

*I feel sad for KAZ, I can’t imagine that he is to blame for all this €$£ speculation, because that is the problem why we wait!! Black suit people, spinning the world around is a Dead Fish we are on to you!!

    Team_MoFF-No2|DK|
    PS.
I have so much respect for K.Y, love seeing him work and talk about the future of his GT baby, He is a true artist in my book, and he is constantly trying his best to make the things he does, into something special Thanks M8.. don’t loose the spirit!! –♥–

  76. Bryan

Wow, that isn’t vague or anything.

I really hope it is summer. If it is released for the holidays, I am going to be a bit more pissed.

  77. Mr Latte

Previous rumours hinted at a USA Summer Release for GT5
Sonys 3DTVS are summer release in USA

If the new “Move Controller” is going to be Sonys big push for the autumn /winter season is GT5 thats if its ready not then likely have a strong link with the summer or is the whole 3DTV connection just not worth considering?

  78. OmnipotenceZERO

You know what? There was GT, then GT1, GT2, GT3, GT4… and the next one is not actually GT5, its again GT4 but with an “ever” after it, i.e. : GT(WillTake)4EVER!!!!

  79. Mr Latte

I will be in the market for a 3DTV (likely the Panasonic 50″) and do believe strongly that GT5 will be Sonys NO.1 Push for the PS3 3DTV features and sales of thier hardware.

Doesnt make sense to release 3DTVs in June/July and GT5 the largest most used and possibly most developed title for 3D to launch 5-6 months after the 3DTV sales begin!

    Points:
    1. GT5 was the first 3DTV game demonstrated was it not at CES in 2009
    2. GT5 was playable in 3D at various tradeshows including CES 2010
    3. GT5 is the largest franchise by Sony to promote 3DTV gaming.
    4. GT5 release date to be announced at E3?

  80. scleeve

This announcement by Sony means absolutley nothing becuase they or PD can delay if further and further again.

The delay and time scales involved in GT5 are gone well beyond a joke and what is acceptable. I am sure all of us would of prefered to be playing a less detailed GT5 two years ago and be waiting for GT6 this year, than wait all this time (5 years+) for GT5 (as awesome as it will be) when its released, when ever that is.

KY is a perfectionist, but there are times when you need to release a version when customers demand and expect it, and then work on the next. If he ran a commercial business in a different industry he wouldn’t survive. And don’t get me started on the way he’s treated the fanbase with complete lack of information over the years.

I love GT and its series has kept me true to the PS brand over all these years, but I’ll be queing for my pension by the time this game comes out lol.

  81. GT4Ever

Yeah ofcourse, they said the same about March. A claim from Sony about a GT release date is more like a announcement of when the game WONT be released.

  82. TokyoDrift

@smoky427, when they say 2010, they mean towards the end. If it was going to be any sooner, they would have been more specific. People need to stop this wishful thinking.

  83. RedBaron

I just watched F1 2010 screens with dense rain. Kaz must be mad from anger when he done certain aspect of the game well and then have to look how other games are drawing close again. We are all mad already of years of waiting. And all this because of sick head of some SONY marketing bastard.

  84. NellyC

I agree with Erik (Worldwide June 2010 release), but think demonblade is closer :) 2010 Fiscal year it is. See you all online in April 2011! Unfortunately I think Sony are bang on as I’ll probably be stupid enough to buy a GT5 3DTV bundle!!!! :)

  85. TokyoDrift

deadboy1975 took the words right out of my mouth – it’s out when it’s out. At the end of the day, GT5 is huge for SONY, as is them getting a strong foothold in 3D. I am sure that a large part of why GT5 was pushed back is due to 3D, which is the biggest gimmick and waste of time since the introduction of virtual surround sound using just two speakers.

  86. deadboy1975

it will be out, when its out.
    yes its frustating
yes if the earlier dates were correct we’d have all played it and taken a great deal from it but its not so keep looking for new news and play something else in the mean time.

  87. NBH

I hope it’s true. To be honest, PD can’t not release this year. The game just needs to come out and anything they want to add or improve will just have to be put into GT6. The way it’s going right now is almost like they have no intention of making a GT6 and they are trying to get GT5 perfect.

  88. irb

What calendar? Could be 2010 in the Islamic calendar. Only 579 years to go…
Seriously though, I’ll only believe any GT5 release date when I have a copy of it in my disc drive. Even then I’ll be skeptical, but that’s just me being a physicist.

  89. Erik

I can only speculate, but personally I find it likely that Sony postponed the game so it wouldn’t be released at the same time as Final Fantasy XIII. Not that they are competing, because they are quite different in genre. But by evenly spreading the releases during the year they might hope to sell more PS3’s over the year (instead of selling every console in March and then no more during the rest of the year). It seems like a stupid reason to me, but I guess Sony has to produce nice and neat results over the year to please their stockholders, like every other business enterprise out there has to do.

At the same time, this might have bought PD more time to polish the game even more, so hopefully it will be truly awesome when it’s being released. My guess is that we will see a release date by the end of March and that this will say that the game will release in June. Hopefully worldwide.

(Another hypothesis is that the game was scheduled for June in Europe and America and that they just postponed the Japan release to have it all released at the same time)

Anyway, June is my bet. Although it’s only speculation. But whatever keeps my boat floating…

  90. PlayStationMove

Wouldn’t it be absolutely hilarious if the rumored “head tracking” in GT5 required the Playstation Move and the way it will work is if you use the strap to strap it to your head.

Friend: Dude, why do you have a dildo strapped to your head.

    You: It’s not a dildo, it’s a Playstation Move!

    Friend: O_O

  91. Edmond

    Hey everyone,

I’m fairly certain that this means a 2012 release. Firstly, there’s no doubt that the car sounds need fixing. Give at least a year for that. Then, factor in the control Sony has. It will want to maximise sales revenue of PS3s. Given the state of the worldwide economy, I don’t think that Sony would waste such an opportunity, launching when not many people would buy the PS3. It would wait until things would start looking a bit better: THEN it would allow Polyphony to launch GT5. And of course, there are the inevitable bugs here and there that will slow things down.

We can be certain that it’s NOT going to be 2010 by being able to doubt the source. Of course some sources are more trustworthy than others, but as we’ve seen in the past, none of them (as regards their announcement of release dates) have been completely veridical. We therefore have justification in doubting all previous sources; why shouldn’t we doubt this?

  92. J.P

Calm down people, and stop crying over what is after all ‘a game’!!

I reckon the game is done, Sony are holding it back to tie in with their 3D tv’s. God knows why as the millions of sales of GT5 are guaranteed, maybe they think the game will help boost sales of the tv!!

Anyway, I can wait… I’ve still got loads of games that I still haven’t finished off!!!

  93. DANtheMANtheLEWISHAMILTONfan

We’ve had this before, last year for example. I won’t stand by a release date untill it’s on my doorstep.

  94. S3 Racer

    @blademask: Thumb ups.
@Stu: only if you have money to go online despite paying already your ISP. FM3 is funny and that’s it, don’t compare it to GT. that’s an insult for gt to be compared to that. Compare FM3 to NFS:S

@squishydk: if that would be the case we would have it for june. Google 3.20 firmware, probably (99%) coming out with sony 3D Bravias release which is june in japan.

WHAT???? 2010 ???? ALREADY. Damn, nearly missed it : muhahaha

At least we got our date now. Kaz said it yesterday, Tanner (??) said it two weeks ago on an investor meeting for Q3.

And now it is not planned for 2010
It is for 2010. Pretty clear.
From now on it goes fast. E3, holidays, GT

  95. Dim

Codemasters F1 2010 will be out in September (6 months from now) and we haven’t seen a single shot of the game and I am sure it’s going to be an awesome game.

GT5 has become a joke with all these shots and previews and videos, and promos and delays and delays and delays…
I wouldn’t bet it will be out in 2010 though I honestly do hope for it.

  96. Stu

Blademask F3 does have private racing hate to break it to you, you can design any race you want in a private room and invite your friends…

  97. Apollo

At this point I honestly won´t believe it until I give my money to a clerk and in turn he gives me a copy of GT5, until then any timeframe they say I will take it as a rumor.

  98. blackjack

because it would only be for navigating menus I’d say that the delay would be more towards the 3d technology side of things than anything else, they should release nurburg to prologue in the meantime.

  99. Zo0m

Sony screw that dumb wii remote ripoff, show some gt5 footage and news, its one of the biggest selling platform titles. I dont wanna play wii remote games like petting a dog with my grandparents and painting rainbows with my 10 year old sister.

  100. tameem

yeah right it will be coming in 2010 “sarcasm”
thats what they said last year gt5 is looking good for a late 2009 release

  101. alba

I think that for anyone who’s been following GT since the very beginning knows that it wouldn’t be GT without all the delays ;-)

  102. Darn thing

I hope they release GT5 Japan, US and Europe at the same time…..hopefully….or make the game as international so that no need for language adjustment!!!

  103. speedy_2

I’d be surprised to not see another delay. How about another “GT Academy” or “Prologue.” Not holding my breath. I still love GT though.

  104. squishydk

blademask – last time i checked gtplanet had forza forums as well as NFS and many others ;)

GT might be worth the wait for you (unsure how you can know that for a fact yet, though im confident you’re right hehe) but for others it may not anymore.

on topic: Looks nice with 2010 release. Im worried about delay with 3D, as im sure launch of GT5 and 3D goes hand in hand. Especially with GT5 3D version comming, and Sony planning on using PS3 as 3D platform like they did with blue-ray. Could mean a delay until 3D is here. Oh well :)

  105. blademask

LOL Squozen, too bad forza is terrible. You’re on GT planet for a reason… Theres no substitute. Maybe on the PC, but even then, nothing has the Polish GT has. F3 doesn’t even have private racing.

GT, unlike most games is actually worth the wait. As it always has been, and its competition is always left in the dust when it releases. Vaporware doesn’t have HD Footage & Playable builds. Use the term correctly.

  106. Squozen

I bought my PS3 in Oct 2007 for this game and I’m tired of the lies. I consider GT5 to be vaporware at this point and will get a 360 with Forza 3 when funds permit. This situation is a joke.

  107. Zenith

    BAHAHAHAHAHA!

Oh man this is getting sad. Didn’t polyphony confirm GT4 in 04, then postpone it to 2005 to add online which NEVER CAME.

I’m not saying I expect PD to delay, I’m just very skeptical whenever they “confirm” anything.

  108. CanAm1968

This news reminds me of something I learned in gradeschool about the boy who cried “wolf”. I am sick and tired of PD and Sony telling us when this game is coming out and I STILL dont have my copy of it. It makes it even worse to hear Kaz say ” we can release it anytime” knowing damn well the game wasnt ready to be released. I dont mind the wait because I know its going to blow the doors off Forza3 but I wish they would quit telling lies until they actually do have a release date.

  109. Strop

Wasn’t this the same game as Vision Gran Turismo which was announced at E3 ***2006*** and going to be a release title for the PS3 (Nov 2006), no wait … end of year 2007, no wait … end of year 2008, no wait … end of year 2009, no wait … end of year 2010!

Someone please explain why the latest prediction is any more credible than the previous four?

  110. ismellbacon611

i know everyone jokes around about 2011 releases but at least now its confirmed for 2010, im guessing black friday or a few weeks before it…… me being in school would love a summer break filled with polyphony’s biggest achievement, but thats just me

  111. Mickle Pickle

When they first announced March, i guess we should have understood it as the Date that they will announce an approximative release date…. therefore they really are ON-time…

… closer than ever ! (j/k who knows… the release date for GT5 seems to be rolling away faster than time can catch up… )

That should be GT5’s slogan: Faster than Time!
    GT5 > Real Time!

like so many of us… i dont believe any more of their words… Just Show me the Money!

  112. bazza

i dont care anymore i got a pc got rfactor. we’d be lucky to see this game this year it’s just another lie thats all

  113. Nsane1

Thanks Jordan for the info. I just got done watching the GDC Conference as well. Didn’t realize the motion controller would be able to work with a title like Socom4 either. Anyways guys, I still don’t see that the game could be that far off when they had set an actual release date for Japan. That had to mean that the game was near completion and they ran into something they either needed to fix or add. I don’t think it will be long.

  114. John Marine

With all due respect, I’d love to see GT5 at E3 or maybe even the Tokyo Game Show or anywhere in between. I still don’t have a PlayStation 3, so I can wait if this deal does get taken into 2011 or further (let’s hope not, especially the “2011 or further” part).

  115. Tyler G

Still doesnt mean it will be coming out in 2010. Just like they said “it will come out in march”…

Means nothing in the GT franchise.

  116. noname

2010.. right ;) Exactly as they said 2008.. “GT5 will be released Q1 2009” oh no, we skip it to christmas 2009 “oh no, we skip it to march 2010” “Oh no, we skip it to the end of 2010”.. buuuuuuuuuullshit :) I just damn hope they release that game!! I mean, I cant really use a fucking epic game, that I dont have, can I? GT5 could be the very best racer, but thats not really helping if i dont have it on the blue-ray disc! :'(

  117. KopparbergDave (PSN/LIVE username)

    YES!

I was starting to worry, nice to know by Xmas I should be playing GT5 finally. Will have a Logitech wheel and wheel stand for this by then. Bring it on! :D
