Kazunori Yamauchi has just confirmed, via Twitter, the release date of Gran Turismo 5’s next update, presumably version 2.04.
It launches this Tuesday, February 7, 2012, after the game’s online service maintenance period, currently scheduled between 03:00 and 04:00 GMT. Details about the update’s contents remain scant, though Kazunori has already mentioned one minor bug relating to drift trial replays that will be corrected.

These bug fixes all had a large relevance to me, so this was a sizable update in my opinion!
Does anyone know if the “Improved the performance of online races to provide a better racing experience” includes being able to roll over your car online? The physics are/were different online and you weren’t able to roll the car, even on Wings of the Red Dragon (Custom track) and Trial Mountain’s lump by the start/finish line.

They didn’t do anything but make all the cars slower, how is this a good thing?
They have at least fixed the weight on the Beetle so it is now 780 kg not 1260kg or whatever it was. Although it is still showing the incorrect weight in the Dealership description, so they seemingly forgot to change the Dealership description. And yes, the Speed Tests do seem to have changed. I have been running a Testing Regime and am about 20 cars in. This means I have to start again…… I am not going to complain though as perhaps it was wrong before and they have corrected it to better results. If the results are now more accurate I am happy with one change (just as long as they don’t keep “tweaking” the speed test results with future patches).
By the way, if anyone is interested there are no new OCD or Seasonal Events it appears. I know some people were asking about that before the patch went up.
looks to me like they screwed up the speed tests, I’ve run a few cars and i can’t even get close to the times i ran before the update. Why do they always screw something up.
i am inclined to agree after a 5 minute FGT run.1/4 mile times = .3-4 slower.Before i was running 8.1-2’s.now i run 8.5-6’s.
1 mile runs are 0.4 slower 20.4 before now 20.8
I agree with Eightlives. We the drag racers put a lot of time and hard work making the list of the most important GT5 drag racing Leader Board and when i say a lot i mean it. There were more than a thousand submissions for the great variation of cars that are common on the drag scene of GT5. All i ask its, Please PD just give us a drag strip, a real drag strip and please once you release it don’t change the tire grip ratios for gods sake.

A new update has been released for Gran Turismo 5.
The main contents of the update are as follows:
– Improved the performance of online races to provide a better racing experience. However,
please note that using voice chat with 12 or more players can reduce screen refresh intervals.
– Reduced wobbling of the screen when using the Chase view (The Chase view is when the car is viewed from the
rear during races and replays, selected by using the SELECT button).
– Electric cars (opponent cars and your cars in B-Spec) will now pit-in automatically to recharge the battery.
– Reduced the amount of steering pull when using force feedback steering wheel controllers in banks on courses such
as the Special Stage Route X Oval.
– When driving formula cars using the Logitech steering wheel controllers, the initial force feedback amount has been
lessened and adjusted to make it easier to drive in a straight line.

– Fixed an issue where exhaust sound is heard even after switching from a combustion engine car to an electric car within the same online race.
– Fixed an issue where if the game is started without signing in online and then saved, the cars and courses included in the Racing Car Pack
and Course Pack would become unusable.
– Fixed an issue where electric cars would not recharge in the pit and become immobile.
– Fixed an issue where when the oil of the Toyota Prius was changed in GT Auto, the motor ceased to function correctly.
– Improved the force feedback of the Guillemot Thrustmaster T500 RS, where the 10 level force feedback adjustment (Especially when using
the X2010 and X2011) was not working effectively.

The ability to see your cars PP whilst using other search terms (year, weight etc)… also car thumbs when viewing your garage online. That would make me a very happy lad.

Custom Championships would be very welcomed. Having somewhat of a selection on which cars to include in the championships? Even more so. Even earning XP and money for them? I may be asking for too much.
I wish they would just make all the cars premium, that is all I’ve been asking for since I got the game. I could care less about the dlcs and stuff like that because I have better thighs to spend my money on than virtual cars.

PD is heavily influenced by japanese car manufactures. You realise this by looking at the VW-DLC cars, which are RHD

Those standard cars are from GT4, the last game where Jap cars dominated, and that’s why you have a miata around every corner. And do you seriously think that they travel to German to just model a couple cars? Nope, they use the cars that are imported from German to Japan. Therefore the Import cars do have RHD. Forza 4s Jap cars are LHD for the exact same reason. Is Turn 10 now American influenced?

Since GT5 sold 8 time more in western wolrd than in Japan they should not publish any vehicles other than western manufacturers. Instead the first DLC was 90% Japan.

I modelled 3d-cars myself you you can mirror the dashboard and steering column to make it LHD or RHD easwith easiness. Not “bad model” at all.

Soem observations:
Tire Ware: I think there has been some NINJA editing afoot. Maybe just me, but comfort soft tires seem to have more grip, and last longer than I remember.
Bug: Think the maintence may be aimed at that. And it will hopefully fix whas as been gong on since the FIRST dlc.
Thankfully GT Planet exists. Otherwise there would be no “controlled” feedback to improve/correct the game.
You have to think “PD” and Kaz look at the constructive remarks. And the current game lets you know that they respond.
Finally, the ability to put premeum wheels on standard cars is an indication that sooner rather than later, there will be a switch made to upgrade the standard cars. That may account for the difference in processing between standard and premeum cars on-line.
I think PD wants them to be premeum more than most of us do. You have to think they are memory hogs, and prevent PD and Kaz from doing more things to the game. I think they are working hard to make the game better. As I am sure most of us know, PD will make changes at any time espcially during scheduled down time. Look for small things…details to change fo the better.

I hope they fix online, I m tired of restarting my GT5, I get this freeze everytime I relod or re-enter online lobby, I have only one time chance to create or join room, second time I refresh I freeze and have to quit… :(
I have no problem with any other online game, I have very good internet, and all settings are set very well… So this issue is pure GT5 fault.
Actually, history argues PD does follow Turn 10 and vice versa. The cars that Turn 10 are adding for DLC are some of the most popular GT5 cars. Also when you look at the initial major update for GT5 coming around the same time Forza 4 launched, that is not a coincidence.

Why the f is everyone talking about dlc stuff? I want a fix for the online issues EVERYONE is having. Don’t get me wrong, dlc is great. To me though, releasing dlc without fixing online issues is like buying new wheels for your car that has a blown motor.
Please PD, fix the online problems. I love everything you guys have done thus far because I play the game nearly every day. The longer this online bug persists though, the less enjoyable it gets. I know I’m not the only one feeling this way. I’ll always be a fan of GT and I’m hoping things will get better.
I had the same problem too. When I load up the standard car section, it takes nearly forever. Then my game will freeze when I’m leaving. Plz PD. You must do whatever it takes to fix this, we’re with you to bring everything we find in GT5 that causes trouble. Show the other companies that release DLC 24/7 what you’re made of. :) GT fan forever no matter what. ;)
Here’s hoping it fixes the online bug and tire wear and brings a few extra goodies with it!
There are some online issues but tire wear isn’t one. Get use to it.
The biggest issue is running more than 12 people right now. This is a MUST fix.
Ditto granddriver. The tire wear “issue” requires drivers to adapt. They are quite resistant. I’m learning to adapt…or at least trying to.
I don’t like limiting online races to 12 drivers. It isn’t as much fun. Can’t wait til we can run a full 16 again.
After 8 feb our PSN accounts will be “Sony Entertainment Network Accounts” (SEN Accounts) with a PS3 system update … Bye bye Playstation Network… I think this is a minor update for the compatibility.
Oh and PLEASE give us a option to turn off camera shake and turn off the stupid overpowered WIND EFFECT. I loved hearing the sound of my cars before the WIND patch and now at high speeds in my roof cam view its mute the car sounds BAD. Plus now I have to turn the volume WAY DOWN cause you guys like increased the sound too much lol. I could race on level 80 out of 100 on my hd tv before that patch and now I have to turn it down to 30 if I don’t want my speakers blown from that stupid wind noise. I always race cockpit view on every other game but I can’t on GT5 cause its camera shake is TOO much and makes me sick to my stomach. Please give us a option to turn that OFF if we want. PLEASE! That also goes for the wind noise to.

I just joined this site to add that all I wish they would fix is the black screen and lockup online, and when I buy a used car from the used dealership or the Main new car dealership it sends you back to the menu. I wish they would patch this cause it gets on my nerves bad. When we buy a car from either dealership it shouldn’t make us jump through hoops trying to re- find the dealership spot you were at every time we buy a dang car. Oh and please make some form of youtube uploader for our SAVED REPLAYS. If you can’t make a uploader for the game at least make a way to save our replays to the ps3 harddrive so we can copy them to a usb and edit the replays on our computers then. SOMETHING. The replays are useless the way it is now. How do we show them off without holding a camera up to the screen? I mean COME ON ALREADY!

Regardless of whether or not you’re satisfied with the game, PD have supported this game more than almost every other dev out there have supported their games. Not just DLC, but numerous patches as well. The good thing is that we’ll be seeing everything they’re doing now in GT6 and beyond.
I think the problem with GT5 not having as much content as previous entries in the series was the move to HD and building everything from scratch.

I agree completely, why are so many people complaining about the updates? If they like, PD could have just released one patch that fixes all of the bugs and then be over with it, but that doesn’t seem to be the case anymore, as the more recent updates, there are less bug fixes, and in return there are more features being added, which is much more than what we can say for other companies, who release their games, then don’t even attempt to fix the bugs.

More like a release title for ps4. Which should be within the next two years. Pointless to release it on ps3 and would be a bad move to release it much after release if it isnt a release title.
I wouldn’t necessarily say releasing on the PS3 with the PS4 on the horizon is a bad move. Sony Santa Monica released God of War II on the PS2 after considering making it a PS3 launch title. God of War still managed to be one of the biggest franchises Sony has right now.
I just mean there is no use, being that gt5 is already limited by the ps3. So why bother with gt6 on the same console, especially when dlc and updates are plenty to keep gt5 fresh. At least gt6 will actually be a step up then, instead of the same thing with a different layout and a few new features. GOWs gameplay wasnt limited by the ps2, just its graphics.
GT5 doesn’t need many graphic improvements, 95% of issues are related to the lack of features. GT6 on Ps3 is more than welcome.
Another 2 – 3 years for a Ps4? Wake up guys, next year Assetto Corsa will be ready with a stunning jaw dropping DX11 graphic engine better than GT, pCars, Forza4, iRacing and everything else on the market. Eventually PD will try to beat the new generation and they will delay GT6 forever. In a couple of years graphic will reach the final step, it will look like virtual reality. So, at the same level of details the winner will be the one with better physics and features. That’s what PD should worry about. Graphic rush is almost over.

They need to fix the toyota 86 chase camera. Since they released the car the chase cam is so close to the back bumper you can’t see the bottom of the car.
OMG! +10000000000000! I hate that! Hope they do fix it. Also, the SLS suffers from the same thing.
and all the other cars suffer from the same problem. The only way i have been able to tone the problem down is by making the springs stiffer

Hey i have discovered a bug. In the gt auto shop still says standard cars cannot change their rims.

@Geraghini: I don’t know about the Speed 12, but I thought that Bugatti was AGAINST changing the rims on their cars, because apparently it would disturb the perfectness of the car. That’s in real life! Wonder if it applies to the game too!
the TVR Cerbera speed 12 is/was a concept. Most concepts on GT5 you can’t change the wheels.
Change the way saving races works for re-entry so that we can resume the saved race when the event is selected the next time after suspending said race, instead of when the game is launched.
Please expand the A-spec and B-spec events. Either add more races to the current sections and/or create an entire new section. New section suggestions – Rally, Drag Races, X-Country.

and also they should do a fix for login bonuses after a suspended race, say u were doing the 24hr race and you do it over a span of a week and finish it on the 7th day after multiple suspends every day, when you go back into the GT Life menu your earning bonuses drop back down to 100% i wish they could fix itt so that you log on whenever you play the GT5 disk

As long as we are buying all the DLCs… and some twice to get an other car (FT86 II Concept 11′) PD will continue to give us great updates and GT5 will live longer… But I can’t wait for the new GT game. I hope the pace notes in rally and the rally tracks will be like in dirt… real rally world … not just some random /tracks/pace notes/ and too large tracks : (

Porsche is being hogged by the evil dictator: EA. When their exclusive license runs out, PD and Turn 10 (Forza developers) will be all over it. I won’t mind if Turn 10 gets a hold of it, because I trust them. They released a statement about the exclusive license, saying that is was unfair to withhold cars from a game. It would make other devs. go after other exclusive licenses, and would ruin the fun of games by not allowing certain content in your personal favorite games. Its much like a supposed licensing deal with the devs. of an FPS game – one buys exclusive licenses to a gun company to use that one gun, this ruins other FPS games.

I think the game has more bugs, e.g. in VW Golf IV in inseide camera right mirror isn’t work perfect.
Who knows what things they will be adding cause to me in every update they DO add new tracks, cars & other stuff cause when you buy the DLC the cars & tracks are only about 100kb each.
I would like to see the ability to Race Mod more premium cars, would love to see an Aston Martin DB9 RM (DBR9), or lambo LP670 RM (RS.V).
I would like to see two things fixed and those things are in practice drive our free drive however you wane call it. Fix the bug that is connected to it with showing the lap times of all the accounts instead of just my account lap times. Now it’s showing the times of all users of the ps3 instead of just my lap times. And if I delete those I will al so delete the lap times of my little brother. Please fix the lap time board so it doesn’t show the lap times of the another accounts in the game.
And I hope it fix the problem of not being able to sell our delete DLC cars from the garage

What GT5 needs now is to add a visual decal/vinyl creator so you can customise your car, like the ones in Forza or Need for Speed. That would be AWSOME!
I’m glad kazunori is a purest and we will never see any silly personalized decals spoiling & distracting from the beauty of the cars, just like in forza. race car livery is one thing but im happy with the cars just as they are.
Yeah, while decals work well in those games, I dont think a Hello Kitty Zonda is something car lovers would do, or like seen done to such cars. Kids who watch Saturday morning cartoons and fast and the furious do for sure, because the tackier the better. Its like when I owned Forza and thought I could create any design, But I didnt, I went for the occasional racing stripe, or carbon fiber body panels. But I always thought why would I want my car looking like an anime character has just thrown up all over it. I would much sooner have a more indepth body/race mod feature… I like to keep the cars clean looking and just as people would have them in real life.
I guess race mod/track day decals would be good, put numbers on the cars, the odd sponsor sticker etc.
On second thought, I don’t want a livery editor in GT, it’s fine the way it is. I love my cars clean.
@TokoTurismo: If you don’t want to use a livery editor on your cars, that’s fine. Just don’t use it. But some of us are not happy with GT’s weak level of customization, so a way to make racing liveries on our cars would be more than welcome.

People, this is an UPDATE NOT DLC there will not be any new cars. The best we can hope for is that it’s a fix for that damn online bug that affects any online room with more than 12 players in it.

I hope that at some point they give us more options when it comes to wheels… and possibly even fitment options… but a wider selection of wheels would be so cool.
Hopefully there’s a fix for better cinematic replay cameras, like they use in the trailers, but knowing PD we most definitely will not.. I’m not holding my breath, but it would be nice being a video editor and all. Hopefully we’ll get a BMW E30. I don’t care which model I just need an E30! Oh and some more British tracks like Silverstone or Knockhill!
I nearly forgot. I hope they fix the ENGINE SOUNDS! and give us an audio options panel so I can turn down the damn tyres track. It’s set to high!
Fix the Chase cam glitch, and have an option to toggle between them. That is all I want.
OMG YES!!! Why is it that I have to see the camera twitch (very subtly) when I’m taking a fast corner?! It’s like it’s trying to let the car pivot a little but does it’s best to stick to the cars rear.
I want: More premium cars, more BMW ///M models, Standard cars change to Premium cars, better car sounds and Tuning, A body Tuning shop and more more more tracks

What we really need is a low speed fix,this is a problem with all racing sims, there is no way a car better then my 2006 civic si with 310,000 mile on it would spin out at 50mph on any given track, the high speed grip is great on most cars but not at low speeds.
