Gran Turismo 6 Extended Trailer at 1080p, 60fps

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DlaBkpi7vCI

As you may have seen by now, an extended version of the GT6 trailer was released a few days after the game’s big reveal on May 15th.

It offers a longer and more detailed look at Polyphony Digital’s new Silverstone circuit and the first batch of cars revealed in the game.

In addition to the 1080p YouTube clip above, you can also download the uncompressed, 1080p, 60 frames-per-second version of the trailer right here (461MB).

i’d like to see f1 tracks like MONACO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! possibly a social life part in gt6 would be good so you could ask your b spec driver to go around bends more smoothly or something. if only… LOL!

  2. iRtheSTIG

Are they still gonna be doing the whole standard and premium car thing? Or are all the cars gonna be a “premium” style?

    1. ScotteDawg

READ the other articles on GTPlanet!!

Standard cars will make an appearance, but there WILL be less of them and they will be rendered in such a way so as to not be too noticeably different from the premium cars from the outside and what you can do with them in tuning, painting, aerodynamics, painting, wheels and photos! (physics and graphics basically)

It is my belief that there will still be some cars with no interiors, they will just have the black cockpit as with the standards in GT5!

  3. iRtheSTIG

Are they still doing the whole standard and premium car thing? Or are they all gonna be a “premium” style car?

    1. McSalsa

I made out the ’99 Toyota GT-One and ’99 BMW V12 LMR…both were in GT5, nothing new unless they have been upgraded to Premium…which, if so, would be awesome…also think I saw all 3 Pescarolos…(the ’03, the ’04, and the ’05 Hybrid-Judd)…

  4. Gwenbors

That video looks amazing, but I think it might be fake. At 40 seconds in, you can clearly see one of the Schultz racing R35s getting good turn in on a corner…

If it was a real video, the car clearly would’ve plowed right over the outside kerbing and into the gravel trap…

    1. Pit Crew

And you got that opinion just from watching a replay Gwenbors? Obviously you were in the mood to criticise something about GT6 and just pulled that one out the hat.

    2. Cath

One time, I heard about this thing called a joke. HarVee or Pit Crew, care to tell ever… oh.. I guess you guys haven’t heard of jokes yet.

    3. Pit Crew

Yes I have heard of a joke. The OP was quite serious in his comment and Cath you have no evidence he wasn’t.

    4. Mer1nza

Dear me .. surely you are trolling Pit Crew?! This is clearly a joke, and a funny one at that.

I also suggest a little Googling next time you try to correct somebody’s spelling. Oh, and probably best to make sure you get your own grammar correct too, otherwise you run the risk of looking a little foolish …..

    5. KFM

That actually did make me crack a smile, Gwenbors.

Also, kerb and curb are both acceptable ways to spell the same word.

    6. Pit Crew

LOL this coming from a noob like you Mer1nza? Nothings wrong with my grammar, I wasn’t familiar with the canadian spelling of kerbing. For that I apologise. If you say it was a joke then I guess your right.

    7. Gwenbors

Definitely intended as a joke…. Claiming the video is fake because the Schultz Motorsports car wasn’t understeering? LOL. Didn’t mean to stir up so much controversy! Apologies all around.

    8. Reality_SG

      @Pit Crew,

“If you say it was a joke then I guess ***your*** right.”

What’s there at the right side?

  5. McZachenF1138

I just want PD to fix the realism (or lack there of) of the tire smoke, but more importantly I want them to add a pause between shifts on appropriate cars to simulate clutch engagement instead of the annoying instantaneous shifts.

    1. another_jakhole

      @karelpipa

ah I feel for you. I remember those days when I couldn’t even play 720p videos without it stuttering every other half a second.

  6. HaerBev

Nice promotional trailer, it will be improved and gonna make some kind of pleasent opening movie :)

    1. Quigz125

Honestly i am serious about wanting to know the song info. If you forget a lot of the songs in GT5 were real songs by different artists.

  7. japlkofk69

This video bring smiles to faces :) or at least to my face :D I think PD is about to nail it with this one

  8. BIOHAZARD9519

I hope this is how its going to be in the game. I also think this is the smoothest video ever to grace my screen.

    1. Madertus

It IS to be downloaded normally; you just click on download and wait for the processing to finish, then the vid is immediately saved to your PC after you choose a location for it.

  9. oskierox

I’m as glad as the next person that Silverstone is in the game, but I hope the next trailers aren’t so Silverstone focused. I’m excited its in, but all the other games that have had it for years are laughing at GT6. I mean, even a iPhone game (Real Racing 3) has Silverstone. Don’t make the trailer self-centered on the new track, and show variety!

    1. Pit Crew

What are you going on about? The trailers are based around the gt6 demo. Just more unnecessary negative criticism.

      Good question Harvee.

    2. TomBrady

@HArvee Good point. You’d be amazed at how terribly inaccurate tracks are in most games. Only PD and iracing are like the real thing. Well and Assetto Corsa but that isn’t out yet. Iracing is laser scanned to the millimeter, PD’s scans aren’t quite that accurate but damned if I can tell the difference between their versions of Spa, Laguna, Daytona, or Infineon. It’s pretty amazing how accurate PD is visually too.

Everytime I play forza I avoid one of my favorite tracks, Road Atlanta. Their version is absolutely horrible. Same with Shift 2 and TD F, the ring is way off, and so is SPa. Codemasters sucks too.

  10. smskeeter23

What’s up with the jagged wheel wells on the Ferrari at 1:46? Are we seeing a “standard” car here or a model that wasn’t finished at the time of this trailer creation?

    1. smskeeter23

Dammit, every single car in the very beginning has flat edges like octagons in places. I thought they were going to use tessellation which if I understand correctly would smooth out all these “rough curves” wouldn’t it?

I mean the detail still looks amazing but I’m really tired of fixing these “curved” pieces in PS after photomode :(

    2. Wiki

Some scenes in this video aren’t original of GT6 but taken from GT5, that’s why we see pixelated or jagged modelling. GT6 will feature tessellation, so all of this rough modelling should be completely or barely gone.

  11. Pit Crew

I like the music. For a second I thought it might be Armen van Buren or Tiesto but can’t be sure. It fits the video quite well though.

  12. Swagger897

Anyone else notice the new vipers tail lights? So far I saw two Astons, two lambos, a viper, a sls, and I think a ford GT

    1. Steph290

That was, without a doubt, the 2008 Viper’s tail lights. So with that I feel disappointed. I a huge Viper fan and it may mean the new SRT Viper didn’t make the cut. :/

    2. HuskyGT

If they had the new Viper, I’m sure they won’t show it right away. There is still time. I’m sure the SRT Viper is in the game.

    1. macxeno

Not Apricot Hill but Special Stage Route 11 (GT 3 Version), Daytona Road Course is beside it. Slowmo on VLC

  13. TomBrady

Man I wish more game developers would release uncompressed 1080p trailers. Youtube videos don’t cut it, AT ALL. Not even a little bit. It’s funny how many people don’t notice, but the difference between an actual game, and 1080p footage of that game on youtube is MASSIVE. Everything on youtube looks horrible, even at 1080p because it’s all compressed to hell. The detail is destroyed.

Normal 1080p video has a bit rate around 25mb/s, youtube 1080p is only 5mb/s. I want to see next gen games release uncompressed trailers so we can see what they actually look like. Like BF4, Killzone SF, etc. Otherwise we really won’t know until release. Kudos to PD for not being morons and knowing that there is a need for uncompressed video in this world of crappy youtube quality trailers.

    1. biftizmo

This is the only video I bin able to watch from this site…it will be on PS3 soon I should think..hopefully for free.

    2. JaySamurai

Hey Tom hope you’re good mate. I just saw your reply to a comment i made lastnight. Yeah sure it will be good to race, i’m not the fastest, but i’m down with nice clean racing, and you’re correct. I drive with no aids at all (Traction off, ABS off, comforts to sports hard/med tyersl etc).

      My PSN-ID: Jay_Samurai_X

By the way that’s not a kiss at the end of my user name haha

    3. beezball

That’s what has been driving me nuts about all the trailers for XBOX One and PS4. This is how trailers should be released, no comparison.

    4. TomBrady

I have bad eye sight and even I can still tell how bad things look on youtube. Yet you’ll still find people on youtube saying “those graphics don’t look that good” based on youtube trailers … amateurs

@Jay, I think kiss would be xoxo, X is just X I think

  14. biftizmo

GT6 is Gonna be so good..it will blows us away….but not for the usual reasons moaned about here…iPod may have snatched the portable music industry from Sony..
and Microsoft nearly stole the gaming war.
The console is old news. And Sony are going to dominate the Gaming app industry and steal the iGames store back……you’ve always got to think into the futue…!
    “Biftizmo 2013”

  15. jvchevy27

anyone else notice the track layouts shown at the beginning of the video, wonder if they mean anything. Also, anyone know what track is on the bottom left at about the six or seven second mark.

    1. ScotteDawg

@jvchevy27 – There are two tracks on the bottom left of the screen. They are – on the FAR left – SSR11 and the one just left of centre is Apricot Hill. These tracks will be in the game as PD is re-rendering quite a lot of tracks for GT6! If they don’t come with the game off the shelf, they will either be updates or DLC.

    1. TomBrady

June 10th I think. It’s a few weeks from now which is cool. Can’t wait. And unlike all the xbox fanboys and haters, the actual PS4 box is not one of my top concerns. It doesn’t matter. It’s a box, what matters is the games

    1. Pit Crew

Not the purpose of this particular video it would seem. Its More like a GT6 demo music video. Except the part where it switches to GT5 footage at Trial Mt.

  16. MadmuppGT

Right I’m not just looking through rose tinted glasses here but this is on a par with that Forza 5 trailer I saw at the Xbox one launch?

  17. JaySamurai

I’ll be straight up and honest, when i finally do get to play GT6, every time i play on the silverstone circuit i’m going to keep it real and have the weather settings on overcast. Cannot remember the last time i saw Silverstone that sunny.

Also 0.46 into the trailer there’s a scene where the camera is placed in one of the stands watching the cars go by. I think it would be a nice idea if we still kept the original way of viewing races in spectator mode, but also an option that would allow for us to view the race in the stands as seen in the trailer. Not a position for every seat in “a” stand, but one camera view per stand surrounding the circuit, sorry if i do not make sense.

    1. JaySamurai

another_jakhole, your name has got me cracking up (Thumbs up on the name)

But could you imagine, i think it would be great to view a race with day/night transitions on seeing the stands light up while the sun is setting. I seriously need to leave this cloud 9 right now seeing as this isn’t going to happen :(

    2. another_jakhole

haha Thanks and you’re welcome :D. I’ve been wanting aerial views of the tracks for Photo Mode and replays. Both of our “ideas” aren’t far-fetched, plus they’re damn realistic which makes me see why they couldn’t be a possibility.

    3. JaySamurai

Yeah i think it’s highly possible to pull something like that off. I totally forgot about photo mode, it would work so well with that. I think Iracing has quite a robust camera option, but not sure if players have the ability to do that!

    4. TomBrady

We should race sometime Jay. I like your attitude.

People who care about authenticity like that are the best to race with. Hard to come by since GT5 seems like it’s mostly made up of noobs who use racing soft tires all the time and don’t ever play with damage on.

    5. Swagger897

I’m quite sure that the day to night transition is on at The Ring and LeMans… LeMans in my opinion has the best night pit area.. Only needs more derailing though like more pit clustering (media)

    6. Pit Crew

^Don’t think that what A_J meant. Im sure he knows those tracks have DtoN transitions. Believe hes saying he would like to watch a replay in that mode from Grandstand area, track lights/Grandstand lights coming on as darkness approaches.^

    7. ScotteDawg

I wanna see – in replay mode – an option where you can “fly” a helicopter over the track and be able to take photos from there too!

I also wanna see day/night transitions on EVERY track! Can you imagine – I’m sure you could, but just go with me here – racing on Clubman, SSR5 or SSR11 during the day or Silverstone, Tokyo or Cape Ring at night? A W E S O M E ! !

If I’m not mistaken, in GT4 on Super Speedway Twin Ring Motegi, there was a photo mode camera in the grand stand area above the start/finish line, so Jay’s idea is very possible!

While I’m at it, photo mode camera’s should be allowed in the pit area too!

    8. JaySamurai

Yup that’s exactly what i ment @Pit Crew.

Ahh really, i might have to check that out @ScotteDawg

  18. TheGTGuy

does anyone know if a standard car from GT5 is turned premium for GT6, will it be apart of the 200 new premium cars in GT6 or are the new premiums, cars that are new to GT and werent in GT5???.

    1. HarVee

No one really knows. Most would assume that no they wouldn’t be apart of the new 200, but like always take it with a grain of salt as Kaz is always vague about these things.

    2. TomBrady

No Kaz already pretty much confirmed what the cars will be. Some standards from GT5 will be converted to permium, like the countach from the trailer. GT6 will have all the cars from GT5, and an additional 200 premium cars, 400 in total.

Some will be brand new, some will be upgraded standards. There are quite a few standards I’d like to see upgraded. Most of all, the Veyron. WISH LIST TIME!!! Plus I’d really like a premium R390 road car, TommyKaira ZZII, VW Nardo, Jaguar E type, FGT, Caterham (although as it is now after SPec 2, it’s not bad at all), Toyota GT ONE, Peugeot 905, Sauber C9, and all the group B cars.

Also I really want them to bring back the F1 cars from GT3, make them “premium”, and bring back the Toyota GT ONE Road car. Plus the Vectors

    1. TomBrady

Of course it’s news dummy. If they didn’t post this nobody would know unless they searched for it. I bet you’re one of those people who think youtube 1080p is the same as bluray/uncompressed 1080p video BAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAHAHAHAHA

    1. smskeeter23

Watch the Alfa closely and you’ll see it on the left rear tire that also comes off the pavement for a split second ;)

    2. smskeeter23

What’s up with the jagged wheel wells on the Ferrari at 1:46? Are we seeing a “standard” car here or a model that wasn’t finished at the time of this trailer creation?

  19. syntex123

Pretty sweet watching it in 60fps. Although my rMBP has a native screen resolution of 2560×1600, the 1080p video didn’t look bad :) (most 1080p doesn’t look that detailed on my rMBP screen)

  20. infamousphil

Marketing strategy? It hasn’t been a week since the abbreviated intro. It looks nice but I must beware the HYPE. None of the previous Intros of earlier GTs, not even the ones that come with the games disc, look as great, terrific, astounding, … as the actual game play. So, I must beware the HYPE!!!

    1. ScotteDawg

Did ANYONE watch the video of Jordan driving the KTM around Silverstone??? THAT is what the gameplay graphics will be like!!!

    2. MeanElf

Well, actually it should be better as that build was not the final one. Jordan talked a bit about this in the news item that had the vid of him driving.

    1. Amac500

That would go a long ways, even if its just cars that are at least somewhat important, like Ferrari’s and Aston’s and BMW’s, ya know what I mean.

    2. ScotteDawg

Here’s a fact – Every single model of car ever produced has been raced in one way or another! Having RM kits available for every car in GT6 is a good idea, but it would be extremely hard for PD to do!

  21. Bodyguard

Anyone else notice the Alpine begin to tripod? I definitely saw one of the rear wheels lift…

    1. Both Barrels

That’s awesome. This could put an end to the complaints about the suspension model not behaving realistically.

  22. HKSBro92

Looks good. I just hope they get the Audi quattro S1’s sound right.
BTW Download the uncompressed version. It looks WAAAYY better!

    1. OmarBaez53

Ofcorse they did show Standard cars in GT5 trailes.

And they did in the firsts GT6 trailer too, just look for a video player/editor with frame-per-frame option, there is a Mitsubishi 3000GT at 00:38.

Unless it is a premium car now, it was a Standard car in the trailer.

  23. Chinese_Drifter

Pause at roughly 2:20. You can see that there are indeed standards in the game. [You can see the Toyota GT ONE and it’s just as it was in GT5]

    1. crcn11

GT6 isn’t even finished, they’re probably using a bunch of GT5 stuff in the meantime. Who knows, we could be looking at GT5 physics and lighting too.

    2. gtfanforlife

If you watch the first trailer they show it after the say some crap about numbers for the hole series. It’s not from GT6. BTW they already said that there would be standard cars.

    3. The Prodigy

Reminds me of GT4’s very tight course with buildings and stuff anyone remember the name? now remember they said they upgraded the graphics on “standard” cars and should have higher quality detail. (minus the cockpit view in some cases”)

    1. HarVee

I have addons for Firefox that allow me to download it straight from Youtube. So if you use Firefox like me, I suggest you find such addons.

  24. Broda

So pumped! love the fact that i’ll be playing 5 pretty much all the way up till 6. Never done that before. Makes a ton of sense to release this for ps3.. 70million units out there.. might as well capitalize on that.
    Great video Jordan. Thanks!
was going to mention, looks like sliverstone will have dynamic lighting too!

    1. Madertus

I’m kinda afraid about this game. What if it’s gonna disappoint us?

Don’t get me wrong, I’m like the most excited person in the world to see GT6 finally announced. But what is it actually gonna offer and how much different from GT5 is it gonna be?

    1. QuikSlvr223

I went down here to post that, and then I saw your comment. Hopefully, it’s actually customizable (or at the very least, tunable). But to sort of drive a car before it’s even begun sales is awesome, too, so I won’t complain.
