  1. WE NEED INFO ON ENGINE SOUND

“FFS” show us some “”NEW”” cars. I don’t care about these old cars. I’m not goin to race them, In all my online gaming I haven’t seen any lobbys race old cars. AND another thing, why do we not have any videos focusing on the ENGINE SOUNDS. The engine sound is the second most important thing.

  2. TankAss95

It annoys me in GT that people laugh at cars like this. In my opinion racing a slow car requires just as (if not more)concentration as driving a fast car. In a slow car you have to push your car to the limits and focus on the fastest racing line more that if you are driving a faster car, because in a faster car you have more oppertinities to overtake and your opponents make more mistakes.

Im not saying that I dont injoy the rush of driving a prototype LM race car around le sarthe achieving 200 mph+, but have respect for the older cars that helped advance automotive technology over time, as without them some of the cars we know of today would not be here.

  3. moonman79

the only thing that bothers me about this vid, like all the others on this track. Why is the map of the track sooooo small???
Im fully aware that its a tiny track but why make the map so small on the screen???

  4. machine4321

Did anyone else notice how good the tires sounded. no longer screeching and every turn . more of a scrubbing sound . Sounds alot better

    1. Thomas

Schumi does not drive Fiats anymore after he quit as a ferrari advisor and started driving for mercedes. He did however drive a Fiat 500 in his ferrari days, but not one from 1967, he had one of todays coolest cars, the 500 Abarth, which I hope will be in GT5

    2. recca

really? i thought it was this one because i’m pretty sure the new fiat 500 wasn’t even out when he told us, i could be wrong

  5. blue_flames

oh look, *another* “i-suck-at-this-so-i’m-gonna-do-burnouts/go-the-wrong-way/some-other-BS” video …

  6. Jeffree Star

I have a video of Laguna Seca with the Supra Castrol but i dont know how to copy URLs from APPs on myiphone please help??

  7. Adam

no one else worried about the fact that there are only 8 cars on track? I cant remember if I have seen 16 yet from these new shots? I’ve sure seen lots of pics of 16 but no vids of actual gameplay of 16 cars anyone any links??

    1. alba

The reason why it’s 8 and not 16 is because this is a show demo. For the sake of optimization it’s easier just to reduce the car count instead of having to spend time fixing bugs to make sure things run smoothly.

      Nothing to worry about :)

  8. Bosnianblood10

I cant believe you guys are complaining on DEMO version GT about sounds and crashes.. just wait 4 the game to come out first. its just a demo every demo i ever played was never like the real version. so what makes u thing this is gonna be like real version and they didn’t keep the sounds of cars from prologue version. because they dont have all the cars in prologue that will be on GT5. ALL IM TRYIN TO SAY IS WAIT TILL THIS GAME COMES OUT BEFORE U START BIT….G AND COMPLAINING.

    1. Team_MoFF-No2

True all so true.. lets get the game in our hands/ps3, and then we can discuss the released version :o) But The Fiat Race looks cute, and yes it can be fun to race in 70-80kmh, but not for long hehe (ZZZZzzzzzz) :O)

  9. MasterFocus

Nice video but one thing I didnt like at all, roof cam for exterior view, WAYYY too high, bring back hood cam or bumper cam alongside of roof cam

    1. AGNT009

Funny you should say that. Because I was thinking, I may not enjoy Karts here, but if they let us run this in reverse of what they show, and run it counter clockwise NASCAR style, this may make an interesting short track for the stock cars since we wont get our regular short tracks it seems.

    1. danielwhite74

We’ve already seen them, in Gran Turismo 4 and Gran Turismo PSP. Why would Polyphony create new trailers using elements from six years ago?

    2. danielwhite74

You essentially just called anyone with any knowledge about this game whatsoever, apart from delusional fanboys such as yourself, of course, a retard. 800 cars ported from Gran Turismo 4. Look it up.

  10. BWX

You guys all missed what I think is the most interesting thing in the vid.. It shows improved AI. Did you see when he turned around and went right at a double file line of AI cars that they did their best to get out of the way?? In any other GT iteration the AI might move a tiny bit off-line at best, but would still ram you head on. This GT AI totally went off-line and a few cars missed the car coming straight at them- it looked totally realistic. That is awesome, and to me is a good sign that the AI in GT5 is way better than anything we’ve seen before.

    1. AGNT009

Well, thats a big difference than a recent video of NASCAR cars piling into the back of each other when they clearly had time to brake and manuever around the sideways car.

  11. AGNT009

It still IS a Go Kart only track, cause Fiats dont deserve to be called cars. Would it have killed them to take a few clunkers and record the sound of real sheet metal, and plastic body panels rubbing a wall. Record a few fender benders as well. The generic thud sound REALLY hurts The Real Driving Simulator Title. It was barely acceptable for GT4, the fact that its still in GT5 is inexcusable for “Mr Perfectionist”. Too much time spent drawing underneath cars instead of recording some basic sound effects. In fact, I think that will be the last time I refer to Kaz as Perfectionist. Yes, he produces a ridiculously great game, but when you continue to overlook easily fixable things, you dont deserve to be called Perfectionist. Cause I AM a perfectionist, and I would have fixed that damn thud by GT3.

  12. Patrocles

Thank you, Alba and Denur for sharing the vid!

The track looks boring. Too much like NASCAR.
Damage model (if ON) looks weak.

The cars look awesome! I can’t wait to get the game!
    :)

    imho, ymmv

  13. Geo_212

The HUD is even worse than Prologue… it’s so crowded, you can’t even see in the rear-view mirror with the names covering it! One reason I like Forza 3: Just enough HUD to keep you going. Hopefully there will be an option to trim down the HUD stats. :)

    1. Geo_212

All I really need to see is my track position, the lap number, and the speedometer. I don’t really care about the lap time either. I mean, you’re racing, save it for an actual time trial! They’ll hopefully be smart and have options for that…

  14. David

I think WAY too many people are expecting GT5 to be the next need for speed and it is pointless to think that. Gran turismo will be the same as always and that is a great thing. No need to be this super racing game on steroids, i like Gran turismo the way it is.

  15. Craigles

I am disipointed in the side views in the video. I thought it would be like nfs shift the way the driver turns his head left and right up and down like in real life. Not just switching to the side views like you would with the rear view. But anyway, not going to stop me from getting the game. Espeicialy after waiting 5 torchering years with 1000 different release dates.

  16. Retrostate

Reminds me of baby park on Mario Kart! And imagine trying to have an incident free race here, it would be nearly impossible!

Also, Kaz has said that standard cars will not have interior views so can you drop it now?

  17. tvensky

can YOU imagine this guys! Take some real wheel drift car with at least 500 HP and drift this track over, and over and over again lap after lap.. great! :) just 1 turn, right all lap, just need to correct a lil bit wheels and power.. i think it would be superb fun for me and many other..

  18. Ren-Tec

Come on now, the sound in a youtube vid plus the quality of your speakers can not be how you judge the sounds on GT5. GT5-p sounds better through a stereo system to me.

  19. RedBabuin

We need one Hd demo video to know how engine sounds is going … cause with these amateur vids and a noise environment is too hard to know the truth.

    1. Geo_212

At least we can sort of hear the engine… I seriously hate it when the sound is overdubbed with lame techno music.

  20. DemonBlade

Bit concerning that PD have made this a premium car! With only 200 premium models you’d have thought they would have selected only very ‘special’ cars. I understand that the premium models should cover a range of cars but it seems a waste to use up one of the premium spots on a car most people will never even drive!

    1. neem'

I think PD have probably selected a few cars in every class so that people who really care about cockpits will always have a car they can drive for any given race. I’d be surprised if every NASCAR racer had a cockpit, and if you look at the list of premiums from the tuning screenshots post a few posts back, there are road coupés, classic Le Mans, WRC cars… Seems to make sense, I think.

    2. danielwhite74

“Only” 200 cars? That’s 50 more than Gran Turismo 3, a game widely considered to be the best in the series, and Kaz said the team were working on adding even more, pushing the number up to as much as 275, I believe he said. Quit complaining.

    3. tommy

      Only?
      WTF?
200 may seem small when you consider the fact that there are 1000+ cars, but 200 on its own is a very large amount of cars when you consider the level of detail in each one.

    4. HugoStiglitz_420

YES it is ONLY 200 cars. I can’t believe you people are comparing other games to GT5 as an excuse. GT3? are you serious? THAT WAS A PS2 GAME!!!! we’re on PS3 & it’s rediculous that Forza 3 has more. How can you say 200 is alot when Forza 3 has 400? GT games are known for massive content & quality so excuse us if we don’t get why theres only 200 cars of good quality.
@neem’ good point. I was angry when I saw that this was a premium but I also have decided to avoid using standard cars at all costs so you’re right, having some cars from every class is a good thing

    5. danielwhite74

Sorry to burst your bubble, but Forza 3’s cars look like crap, with ridiculously low polygon counts for this generation, not to mention generic interiors for certain race cars and blacked out windows. Do you have any knowledge of game development whatsoever? Because I, for one, have created three-dimensional models myself and am aware of the effort it takes to create one of the immaculate detail showcased in Gran Turismo 5, so why doesn’t everyone just shut up and enjoy the game for once?

    6. Gamer GT5

In one of his articles he says it takes about a year for each premium car to be made. And remember their not just focusing on making cars they’re focusing on building the operating system for the ps3. That’s alot of coding. I say 200+ cars is more than enough for me. Everybody is wondering waiting 6 years and all you get is 200 cars focus on other things that they’ve been working on. They also worked on Day/Night cycle, tire marks, smoke, interior night lighting, high beam/ low beams and more etc. That’s alot of work. Everything makes since to me.

    1. NimbusToast18

Just because a car is labeled as ‘Premium’ doesn’t mean it’s necessarily fast, luxurious, powerful, etc. It just means that it has a lot more detail, cockpit view, and can receive even more damage.

Besides, haven’t you read the interview with KY? He told us very clearly that only Premium cars have cockpit view.

And also, you have to remember that ALL the cars shown off in Gamescom are Premium.

  21. Tim

Can’t wait to drive the small hatches like the 500. Hope the classic mini has made the cut! And hopefully the new john cooper works and new 500 abarth are in too!

  22. Jeffree Star

Wow… You kids are so negative. Now its the collisions sound effects!!!!??? It was the damn cockpit now all of you bixch about everything…

    1. neem'

Jeffree, how long have you been around? First it was damage, then cockpits, then weather, dynamic time of day, skidmarks, the release date, then cockpits again, then engine sounds, now it’s collision sounds, cockpits, this circuit, skidmarks not being permanent, damage, videos of 8 cars instead of 16, engine sounds (although I wonder how many people have actually heard a Fiat 500 in real life because this sounds pretty accurate), the release date, weather, livery editor… Not to mention the fact that the phrase ‘delayed again’ being bandied about as if it’s been delayed more than once, which it hasn’t. There was an estimated Q4 2009 date which is far from an actual release date, then there was the March date which was delayed indefinitely, then the next date they actually specified was 2nd November 2010 for the US and the 3rd everywhere else. As far as I can tell, that’s one delay.

So yes, these kids are pretty much the most negative ‘fanbase’ I’ve ever seen. Still, there are those of us who actually do want to play this game and understand it can’t be perfect, and minor imperfections like collision sounds, skidmarks that fade over time and ‘only’ 200 cars with cockpits (which is more cars than most sims even have in them!) aren’t going to ruin the fact that this game looks gorgeous and is almost definitely going to be a massive improvement over every GT game ever released. I’m pretty sure all these people complaining about stuff will forget all about it when they’re actually playing.

    2. LoneWanderer

      @neem’

You describe TokyoDrift specifically with your statements of what people here (not me) whine about.

We are all going to get this game realizing it can’t be perfect and that it’s better than Forza will ever be.

    1. Sigmaviper11

Most likely there won’t be track to car restrictions. Car restricted races are a different story. Its going to most likely it’ll just be down to the practicality of it. A Speed 12 would be absolutely stupid on this track. Karts, Midgets, Copens and the like might be fun.

  23. blue cat

Watching this made me think of two fun things this track could facilitate; continuous drifting, and a really scrappy 16 player race. Both of those are the only worthwhile aspects of this little track that i would use it for and admittedly they’re definitely pretty shallow pleasures.
    looks pretty though…

  24. NBH

Hmm I assumed this track was for karts only. I hope we get some proper kart only tracks. I would have thought the tracks will be too long and open for karts if they are also designed to have normal sized cars go round them.

    1. FlareKR

Maybe all the tracks are kart compatible. If I could race the Benz Wagon anywhere, why can’t the karts?

    2. Fisha695

      Isn’t the Fiat 500 basically a twin-engine Kart? l0l

Maybe the various Kei/City/Micro car can be raced on the Kart tracks since ya know they’re about the right size for the track… haha

    1. FlareKR

Fix It Again Tony. I’m just waiting for it to flip and explode muahahahaha! I think Kaz is gonna have to add Tony’s Shop to GT5.

  25. Timvasvi

I do find the collision sounds a little disappointing to be honest. Like when the car was scraping along the side of the players car, it sounded like loads of generically loud collisions rather than a scraping noise.

And its more a thud than a crashing sort of noise too :(

    1. IronM@sk

Yeah sounds like bashing a large empty plastic wheelie bin with a rubber mallet, regardless what they run into. Also, the collision sound appears to have the same intensity no matter what the collision speed. I hope they aren’t final sound effects.

    2. organdonor

I’ve been wondering about this too, the collision sound is just a loud empty thud, it sounds much worse than prologue and I have to assume this is just a placeholder for now.

    1. GTbyPlaystation

Note: I also noticed the little blue overtake flag. It seems that there is a possibility of proper racing flags in the final game.

    2. Sigmaviper11

Hasn’t that been confirmed? I know they brought some special rules for Nascar. So I wouldn’t be surprised to see some FIA stipulations come through.

    3. GTracerRens

I did also see another gameplay video with yellow flags. It was on the Nordschleife and the yellow flag appeared when the car crashed. It would be nice if debris were lying on the track. I also noticed that the new Fiat 500 has a steer on the right of the car. I hope they will add a kind of roll over feature to these cars, they are only fun to roll over. :P

    4. Louie_Schumii

The national finals build of the GT Academy Demo had blue flags as well. I’m not too sure about yellows though considering the amount of crashing that went on without yellow flags popping up.

    1. Witham

How did you figure that they kept them same sounds, this latest demo has shown a vast improvement in sound.

    2. caasimun

that is true…the sound has improved especially the vid with the m5 doing…360’s the engine sounded soo good….XD
