As PlayStation Network services are coming back online, many of you will notice that you now finally have access to the new “Muscle Car” Seasonal Event races in Gran Turismo 5. It was actually launched shortly before PSN went down last month, though few people got to see it. Here’s a look at the races, available to pre-1980 American cars with no more than 550PP and any kind of tires:

Just use a cobra with fully customisable transmition it’s fast and handles well and it didnt cost much

  2. ucwepn

add power + standard full weight + sport hard= good challenge, the car in 1st place in a couple of races was a freak especially daytona I lapped 3rd place with 2nd place right on my tail. used a totally standard cobra with sport hard for last race took me a couple of tries i’m not a smooth driver haha

    1. Alex

Probably working on a huge 1.10 update. Beta free roam, more races, standard cars become premium. The usual

    1. KFM

I was really surprised I had to scroll down this far to see someone complementing that _excellent_ picture.

  3. ML

do tyres not affect the calculated PP of a car or something? Just thought it was odd that this article specifically the PP restriction and made a point in saying that any type of tyre could be used.

  4. mobiletone

i’m stuck at the lv35 wall, need another 2,000,000 xp, it’s tough going at 17.500 per race.

they should bring back the big xp races we had after launch, i know they were a thank you but, damn, do i need them now.

  5. splemoni

They may not have updated GT5, due to the fact the japanese government has blocked PSN access.

  6. Big Ron

I await a bigger patch in the next weeks.

New seasonal event don´t help me to replay GT5 for now.

get off GT5 forums then, what sort of person wastes his time on here if they don’t even have the game?

    2. Really, he means it

From various GTP articles (in order):

From “Gran Turismo 5 Technical Analysis by Digital Foundry” 5November 29th, 2010 by Jordan

      “Gulyo November 30th, 2010 at 8:11 am #
I sell my whole stuff … PS3, GT5 and DFGT … and NEVER EVER buy again , really, not my style !!!”

From “Red Bull Says Pikes Peak is in Gran Turismo 5” 5December 30th, 2010 by Jordan

      “Gulyo December 31st, 2010 at 5:04 am #
In GT5 rally mod must fix : I push full the throttle in a sharp curve and NOTHING HAPPEN … I mean in the firts or second gear no acceleration AT ALL !!! WHY ???????Fix it please !!!”

These posts are followed by other posts complaining of other features, some not activated untill after he claims to have sold his copy……..

Apparently his style is pretending to play a game he supposedly doesn’t own (as of November 2010), and then comes here to tell us how bad the imaginary version is……

    3. Pryor

Let me get this… You sold your PS3 and hardware in March for a game that isn’t coming out until October?
So how do you know if the events are a joke if you sold your PS3 and game?

It also seems that this guy doesn’t even know how to work out the traction control settings.
      HINT: turn it OFF!

Kid just owned himself by his own noobish ways of trolling.

  8. i missed psn

I believe the credits may be incorrect, i believe daytona is 101 700 and indy is around 110 000, not that it really matters, but someone might care.. anyone want to confirm that im not just being dyslexic?

    1. funniest guy here?

Dude, what you get up to in your own time is your business not ours….
oh, sorry, mis-read that last bit.

    1. Jeez Loueeez

I’d have been surprised to see anything right off the bat. It’d just clog up the servers even more, and cause problems. Check again at the normal time for seasonal updates later this week…

    1. alex pimblett

just have to learn how to drive em’ :D i hated muscle car at first( handeling wise ) but soon got to love them :)

  9. Sony Baloney

Got on PSN long enough to download update, change password, then it CRASHED AGAIN. Now it says, “Down For Maintenance”.
See ya. I’m heading back over to XBL.

    1. CoolJetta3

Check the PS blog. They had to turn off the network for a short time to clear the queue since so many people signed back on at the same time. It’s back up again

    2. Jeez Loueeez

Don’t let the door hit you where the good lord split you on the way out….
      Stupid trolls.

    1. Brandon

I used a black C3 Vette Convertible, Nascar yellow-letter tires and the metal lip spoiler. Pretty easy wins with about 460pp on sports medium tires.

  10. raybould1345

I know I hated that “Baby” song on the Online Lobby but I’m so glad to hear it again! :D

    1. Alex

Same here. It gets annoying, but with PSN down i have been taught the values of life. Like using a NSX-R in the Sunday cup challenge. So easy.

  11. moot

Before PSN went down i had already completed all 5 races and replayed them many times. And i had bought most of the cars in the OCD. Didn’t realise i was in an exclusive small group.
I am expecting 3 separate new seasonal championship sections by Friday. And hope there will be an update too for new content for the game, features etc..

    1. Antony Henley

I fear you will be disapointed then!!!
Correct mr if am wrong but wasn’t the developers PSN taken offline as well?

    2. funniest guy here?

Thats a moot point you make there.
      ‘Moot’ point.
      Geddit?
      No? Just me?
      I’ll get my coat……
I’m here all week, try the veal.

  12. Ferdbags

I’m sure if they had time to restore a worldwide gaming network they had time to work on a game.

    1. Jeez Loueeez

      1. How much time sony has available to work on servers has nothing to do with PD updating its game.
      2. Kaz tweeted about a month ago that the new patch wouldn’t be coming for at least a few months. Again PSN being up or down has nothing to do with that.
      3. Did I mention Sony working on it’s servers has NOTHING to do with PD working on a patch.
      4. In other words, your not likely getting a gt5 update soon, and getting one has nothing to do with the PSN outage.
      Cheers

    1. Erik

This is not the compensation. This event was available before PSN went down. You will find information on what your specific region will offer on the playstation website.

    1. ExtremeGT5

It’s not because PSN is online they can’t update GT5 and it’s not because PSN is offline they can update better than at any other time. You are just one of these unthankful people out here.

    2. onepuff

I’m sure they have completely recovered from the devastating earthquake, tsunami, and nuclear disaster by now.

    3. Ferdbags

I’m sure if they had recovered enough to restore a worldwide gaming network then they had recovered enough to work on a game.

    4. Enzoduder

im just sorry for yall that actually are becoming hostile about your game not being updated quick enough. christ almighty people pay 60 dollars for crap games with little content and yall just incessantly bitch and moan about not getting a content update promptly enough, or patches soon enough when it takes the call of duty series half the life of a single game to release a patch. Find some other hobbies or commit more time to your actual lives so you don’t suicide from being so angry about this.

    5. Ferdbags

^Plays video games for an hour or two a week IF I’m lucky. Go follow your own advice. Good lad.

    6. CrackedTrigger

The servers and networks are located in California, the network had nothing to do with Japan, yes Sony is a Japanease company, but the systems and people for the network are located in America.

    7. Enzoduder

I didn’t bring my ps3 to college and when I came back for spring break psn was down and I didn’t cry that I couldn’t play gt5, I just did other things like get hammered and catch up on school work and sleep.

I wasn’t even directing my comments at ferdbags but I guess he took offense to it because it defines him. Whatever.

    8. Antony Henley

Perhaps they have created new events in the time that the psn was down. Seeing as the majority of the world didn’t get to use or even see this event for 24 days then I guess this is the one that we get now. Having said that perhaps we will get a new event on Thursday. Your reply is typical of the ” I want it now” generation, so doesnt really surprise me!!

  13. maxitsu

i thought there would be a update for saving in the middle of endurance races and championships…?

    1. Erik

There will be, but not in a seasonal event update… you need to wait for a patch, just like the rest of us.

    2. boblikepie

Game updates were never shut down. They run separately to the psn I updated a few games while the network was down

    3. cliffatron

It would be nice for some sort of estimate on the endurance race saves though. On the other hand this event is sweet. And that muscle car pic is the nuts!

  14. Killbill

3 weeks of no psn and all we get is this lozy seasonal event?!?! Lol just kidding but its good to be able to play gt5 online again

    1. Greyum

Oh no, 3 weeks of not being able to go online with your games console…awwww how awful that must have been. I can’t even begin to imagine how hard life was for you…so sad.

    1. moot

Weren’t all these races/prizes and OCD already published on GTPlanet on the day of the seasonal update? Didn’t realise people missed out on it.
