North America’s Bonus GT5 Downloadable Content Details

Although Sony has still not explained the seemingly bizarre last-minute delay of Gran Turismo 5’s DLC in North America, they have now detailed the “special bonus” the region will receive when the content is eventually released next week on October 25th. From the company’s latest PlayStation Store Update:

We are confirming that the Gran Turismo 5 DLC update will be available to download on 10/25. We apologize for the delay in the content however as a gift to our eager fans we are offering free bonus content. For those who purchase the “Complete Pack” by November 7, we will throw in a unique GT Academy dynamic theme as well the Honda NSX GT500 Stealth Model. Just to be clear, both the dynamic theme and the car are free with purchase of the Complete Pack. Again we are sorry for the delay and hope that fans will enjoy all of the fantastic new content to come for GT5.

The Honda NSX GT500 Stealth Model was originally only available in the European GT5 Signature Edition, or to those who pre-ordered GT5 at Wal-Mart in the United States. Thanks to irmopars for the quick tip!

    The Ghost car from THE WRAITH (MOVIE) it was a prototype ahead of its time and was insanely fast there were only like 6 ever made my Grandpa had one and the Government seized it because of its suicidal speed saying it was to dangerous and unsafe for street use i think there’s only two left in existence as four i know were destroyed one was hidden for 15 years and the other i be leave stayed in a showroom museum.
    I could make this list forever long but i wont there’s my top picks share yours and maybe we can get pd to list some of these in future dlc

    my wish list for new dlc in the form of a premium car would include an Atom and the ascari. Want all these exclusive cars to become non-exclusive, be it free or for a price.

    I agree with the fact they r giving away pre order specails and I hope.to god they don’t get a whim and rrlease the chromeline cars u get for C ed. I bought ed cuz of the perks and pre orderd it to get the SLS stealth at gamestop. I think if u want the chromeline cars go get the ced if u can. Pre.order perks r nice.but it looses incentive to do so wen the perks r later dished.out.like candy to winey immature children!

But u can’t plz EVERONE! I just glad to.c a developer acually care about their fans!!! (TWO WICKED AWSOME THUMS UP). but to give the exculives for sig ed preorder or c ed is.outrite dumb cuz then they get the idea of.y waste.time effort and money to buy the excusives to own right then just to givin away later. I mean think about.it! If this.keeps.going on wen Gt6 or 7 releases ur going to a market of less po and c.ed salez.cuz u dish out the perks later.

      I’m sorry to complain everyone. I’m sorry PD to go off (if your actually reading this). I truely am. I just don’t want to see such a great game and racing sim just go down in flames. GT Academy is proof that this game IS REALLY GOOD!!! Just look at the drivers playing GT. I just don’t want to see GT go down. That’s all. I know it’s better than this.

    I’m really pissed of because I play the USA version of GT5 (Because it includes the Nissan GTR minuature car) on my EU Account (Because that is wher I have all my friends, I live in the EU),
    But because the DLC is Account-locked the only thing I can do is buy the European version of GT5 and play the game all over again (I am now: A-spec level 38 and B-spec level 40) !!!

    I think this is insane !!?!??!?!

    i really dont get what the big deal is…i mean…i get it if you have more than one person that plays gt5 on the same ps3 with different accounts, but for the other guys…what is the POINT in creating 2 accounts…

      B-Spec. So you can online B-Spec from 2nd account and improve your main account drivers because the account running race only gets one entry. Lots of other reasons too.

    It seems many of you appear to have missed the part where it says “November 7th”. In other words, its only on offer for a limited time thus in actuality its still retains some exclusivity. I relize some of you paid extra to have that, but lets not forgot its only one out of the many cars you paid extra for so you aren’t exactly being cheated out of anything. Seriously, the about of self entitlement in these boards and in these comments is just astounding.

    The bonus for those of us here in North America is nice but I really think PD and Sony should’ve held off with the DLC until ALL the regions could get it at the same time.

    I’ve driven Spa online a few times today and it’s fun and all but, it sucks that everyone else in the world can use their new cars and racing suits that us folks here in North America have to wait another week for. Really bad move by PD and Sony.

    If EVERYONE can’t get it then NO ONE should get it.

    Man. GT5’s batting average just keeps slipping. Getting pretty close to the Mendoza line for me. No. Offering me an incremental bonus for playing every day is not going to fix the major problem. No meaningful online presence is the missing ingredient. That’s why I could easily put this game down. Such a chore to find a good online session. More time searching than playing is not a good recipe for online play to drive the DLC. Give us a fair arena in which we can compete and I promise you, people will come back. I would pay like 5-10 bucks once every week or two as entry into a series or racing event where entry, rules and penalty enforcement were governed and enforced by the software instead of some random GT player. The precedent has been set with the EURO B spec challenge so theres a way to do it without it being gambling. Without matchmaking, This is an A spec game I finished a long time ago. Think of it SONY/PD. You could charge everyone for entry, but only give the DLC to the winners. Then the winners move on with their prestigious items to flaunt about while everyone else keeps reentering trying to win it. Imagine how many people might pay just a quarter at a time for entry fees if there was a prize to be attained. Just some ideas. I don’t care, just something fresh and innovative would be nice. But I guess I would even settle for functional at this point.

    This Good News. But, as I said before, It Doesn’t Matter. Also, just for the sake of argument, Here’s a Wish List of Cars I would like to see in the game(No Matter How Off the Wall They May Be):

    1: 1972 Ferrari Daytona Spyder 365 GTS/4 Two Words-Miami Vice
    2: 1985 Ferrari Testarossa in White Also Miami Vice
    3: Knight Industries Two Thousand-Knight Rider w/ Working Scanner
    4: 1969 Dodge Charger -The General Lee/Dukes of Hazzard To All Our North American Rednecks Out there. You know you would love to see that.
    5: 1975 Ford Gran Torino- The Starsky and Hutch Car W/ The Light on the Roof
    6: 1978 Firebird Trans Am Special Edition from Smokey and the Bandit Another Redneck Classic
    7:1972 Jaguar XJ-E Type Convertible Always Loved that car.

    That’s all I can think of. For many of you, if your not 35 years old or older, You Not going to Understand or Know Most of these cars. But It would still be Nice to See.

    I’m Happy either way. I have the McLaren F1 Stealth Car, Which was what I wanted anyway. The NSX will be in another space in my garage.

    NSX is my favorite GT500 car and now my GT NSX collection shall be complete!!!

    I feel that this “compensation” is unacceptable on behalf of those who bought the Sig edition or preordered from WalMart. I preordered from Gamestop so I got the F1 and NASCAR and I would be pretty upset if they had given me a car I already had and went to the trouble to acquire. Besdies, I already have 10 JGTC/Super GT NSX’s, I don’t need another one. The Stealth Cars and Chromelines need to be left as exclusive cars for those who went to the trouble of getting of them, be it preordering the game or paying extra for the Sig edition. I would have been much happier if they had given us something that was actually exclusive to us that no one already has, such as El Capitan and Test Course, which we know exist.

      What’s funny is I was one of the nerds that went on Ebay and paid like $200 for all stealth cars and chrome line cars after I canceled my pre-order of collectors out of delay frustration and had to settle for the regular version on pre-order day. Then I found out I could be one of the only ones and pay crazy money to have one of the most complete GT5 collections in North America. Enjoy the NSX guys, pretty cool car!

      Agree. I rather have premium versions of popular cars like:

      Supra RZ
      Mitsu GTO
      Superbird
      Golf R32
      E46 M3´s (any of the five, specially the street ones.)
      Benz 190 Evo
      ´01 SS Camaro
      De Lorean
      Tank car (why not? that car is beautifully crafted. Imagine it in premium mode.)
      Any muscle car, Japanease 80´s-90´s sports cars, German sports cars and any other that didn´t made it as Premium.

      and such…

      If PD charged me 12 bucks for at least five of these cars that me, SZRT Ice and Carltonracing mentioned, I would empty my wallet in a heartbeat.

      Heck, if PD converted four standards to premium and threw them as DLC each month, even though it´s wrong to pay for them, I wouldn´t mind giving the above mentioned 12 bucks. Now that would be worth spending for! In one year we would have almost more than 50 new Premiums. But only on one condition. No car ticket crap. I want to see them in the dealerships so I can buy them as many times as I want.

      btw, @SZRT Ice, The RS4, RS5, the Ruf tunned Cayene, Diablo, M6 and F50 are a super YES! The rest are fine as well.

      I guess that we all had it with the hype and high expectations. PD, please work with giving the marvelous game that you already made it´s last finishing touches, instead of throwing out all this repetitive and overused content that most won´t find a way to use. Not talking about the tracks or suits or paint. Think about it: Paint, suits and two tracks are the only REAL new stuff that has been released. And even though it´s new and all, you can´t help to feel it´s in a very restrictive way.

    Still Signature Edition owners as me… has Chrome Line and the rest of the Stealth cars. Enjoy it everybody. Mostly being free.
    I hope to see new cars in future DLC’s and not cars as i own now. Stealth cars and Chrome lines are exclusives…but until when?? Who knows…is just a game, everyone must have all the cars. ;)

    would like the extras also (cant..im in europe) but cant complain at pd’s honesty and updates dlc etc, keep up the good work. too many people complaining, not enough appreciation. although the dlc was a bit pricey… after the initial collectors edt cost. but the in car view on all cars, won it for me. although…..if anyone has noticed… theres no window wiper on standard in car….lol. making things v difficult in the wet.

    This would make it the 8th free car in GT5 that I have received. I preordered the collectors edition at Gamestop. I received the 5 chromeline cars, the #20 Logano Camery Nascar, and Mclaren F1 stealth. I got the Edge Camero and now a Super GT car. Loving GT5 Huzzah!!!!

    The conclusion SCEA gave out reminded me of the typical American marketing scheme. Buy the expensive one, get 2 free bonuses!

    Also, the bonus deal sounds alright, it’s just that North American players still can’t get something like a sorry package. This situation would be a lot more sickening if the delay was 2 or more weeks.

    I’m not gonna lie, the NSX is awesome. I know some people may complain that it was exclusive and whatnot, but hey it’s been a year of exclusivity now, so who cares? It’s a hell of a car and a great drive.

    I’m sure they had their reasons and all, but the delay was pretty lousy for anyone eagerly awaiting the DLC pack’s availability. I for one was more than a little ticked off by the news, and still sorta am but atleast this is a decent bonus. I guess I’m satisfied now though.

    The NSX stealth addition will enrage those who have pre-ordered it. Wouldn’t it have been better to give the Chromeline Jag and/or Edge Camaro? They were free, but not to all…

    Honestly i hope they start giving all the special pre order cars out for free. The game as been out almost a year and while i have the Ford GT Stealth and some Nascar i got from gamestop i would have no problem with them now giving it out. It’s not like it cost any extra it was just a bonus for pre ordering from Gamstop.

    We all should be allowed to drive every car thats available in the game. This Pre order special was BS anyway.

    I was hoping for a 50% off deal for the first week. I don’t think Ill ever be using this car so I’m not happy. The way the DLC is alone is kinda stopping me from getting it. The cars need to be buyable from the New Car Dealership!!!!!! DO YOU HEAR ME PD?! MAKE EM BUYABLE!!!

      Yeah, having them buyable allows you to own more than one. That way I can have the chassis reinforcement on my race models, and off on my drift set-ups… I hate having only one of each chromeline.

    Positive:

    -Yay a new free car!
    -Yay a new free stealth car!
    -Its free!

    Negative:

    -Stealth car owners will hate this..
    -Another GT500 car..
    -I’d rather see the DLC be unlocked for all accounts on one PS3, instead of being locked to one..

      What if I don’t buy now the DLC and they gift the TCs, x2011 & karts in release 2.1 o_O

      And for those who got the game early in Wal-Mart, instead of keeping their reward, now they don’t get anything, cos they already have it…I’m happy to get it, but I think it’s a bit disrespectful to those most loyal to the game…

      For example: I have payed for the Orange box on steam and now suddenly Team Fortres 2 is free. It’s not entirly fair, but I had the privilege of playing it much earlier. So I don’t care.

Way to get all pissed off about a free bonus gift, you tool. Everybody wants certain cars. Hell I really want an Audi R18 TDI more ten anything else in th game, but I dont cry everytime something gets added and it’s not an R18, especially when it’s a free bonus perk!
