PlayStation Network Service Restoration Begins Now

Other May 14th, 2011 by Jordan

It looks like the long wait is nearly over – Sony will begin restoring PlayStation Network services around the world over the next 24 hours. A new PS3 firmware update is already available and will be required to connect to the network when it finally does come back online in your location (SCEA is maintaing a service map for U.S. users here). Everyone will, of course, be prompted to change their PSN passwords upon signing in. Watch the video above from Sony president Kazuo Hirai for more information.

The site went back offline. If you got in and up and running and stayed logged in from a computer you can still run your AI b-spec remote racing. I have the widget that has been running for 2 days now and I’m not taking him offline until I hear it’s back up fully again ;)

I pulled a couple cars offline and another bob so I had more to play with so if it went back down I would have more I could still do offline. Glad I did :-D

I’ve heard that you should be able to play offline and can connect from the PS3. I’m just not taking a chance.

agreed 100%. don’t forget how we got that news. A week before gt5 was supposed to come out they said it may be delayed until or past xmas. they gave us no info & everyone was pissed. then 2 weeks later they tell us out of the blue they say- “GT5′s gonna be out in 12 days, bitches” sorry to rain on anyones parade but that was the best news this site has been fortunate enough to report. Thanks for reminding us Jordan

Still waiting to change my sub-accounts passwords; over 48 hours and nothing!

I don’t want to start GT5 all over again!

Back online in the UK = good. Changed password straight away = good. Had GT5 for an hour and a half, then PSN goes off = worrying. Can’t log back in with my PS3 for half an hour although I can via my laptop = odd. Came back on and seems OK = good, again! Anyone else in the UK have a drop-out last night?

No sign of the password e-mail yet……..
That’s 22 hours since I sent it. I think ( since America went up before Europe ) that the servers are still backed up with all the American e-mails. They are having ISP issues also and had to turn the function off completely for a while to deal with the backlog.

Not sure when I can get online yet.
@Speedthrill… You do need an e-mail if you haven’t downloaded from PS Store to your PS3 with your account. I picked up a new PS3 and transferred my saves shortly before PSN went down. Talk about unlucky. :/

      Lol , that’s now a FULL 24 hours…. and no E-mail…..
Who thought up that bright idea ? ” Yes Mr Sony President , we will send 30 million e-mails all at once , they will love the security aspect of it ! “…………

      Thanks Sony.

I just find out that – IT WILL NOT WORK WITH AUTO SIGN IN… you have to disable the option of auto sing in, and sing in manually every time and it will work!!!

      just signed in.. :)

Even stranger since it doesn’t require the e-mail if you’ve ever used your account to dl content or make a purchase. It just had me change it and sign in again.
