
As you’ve probably noticed, it’s been nearly seven days now since Sony last offered up a “this week” time frame for the restoration of PlayStation Network services. While there’s still no real end to the downtime in sight, Sony has at least acknowledged they’re probably going to miss that soft deadline with their latest blog post:
When we held the press conference in Japan last week, based on what we knew, we expected to have the services online within a week. We were unaware of the extent of the attack on Sony Online Entertainment servers, and we are taking this opportunity to conduct further testing of the incredibly complex system. We know many of you are wanting to play games online, chat with your friends and enjoy all of the services PlayStation Network and Qriocity services have to offer, and trust me when I say we’re doing everything we can to make it happen. We will update you with more information as soon as we have it. We apologize for the delay and inconvenience of this network outage.

I agree that it isn’t Sony’s fault and the fault is to be blamed on the hackers. All I am saying about Sony is that they need to quit telling there customers what they want them to hear and giving them dates and time lines that they can’t meet. Look at it this way if you told your boss that you would have something done in a fews days he would expect it then not in a few weeks. If you told him a few weeks and got it done in a fews days you would be the hero. I don’t care how much time Sony needs to fix the problem, just don’t tell me timeframes that are lies.
I do the Scheduling for a large repair shop and I would rather tell a customer a longer pickup time then to tell them a time my shop can’t meet. I have been doing this for many years and have found that when I give a time longer than I expect the job to be finished and call them early and say the job is compleat and they can pick it up, I never have a irate customer. But when I tell a time that can’t be made 9 time out of 10 I have a unhappy customer. Most people don’t mind waiting but when you tell them a timeframe and don’t meet it you have made unhappy people. Get the point or the wow momment as you call it.
Only one problem with your point: Their last update turned out to be entirely truthfull, and when read in context, so was every other timeline update given, even if they where slow coming at first. The only mistake was letting public pressure influence a decision to provide a bunch of screaming online addicts with a date before the full extent of the damage was know. They probably DID think it was just going to be a couple of days at first, BEFORE the security experts figured out how bad it was. I was able to log in once durring those few days, so they certainly were working towards that goal at that time. If everybody had not been throwing hissy fits, and gave them time to look at the system, we would have gotten the correct date the first time round. If sony had waited any longer for those first updates, they’d be catching just has much hell, and they’re still getting it for saying it would take untill the 31st, so just giving out a long guestimate wouldn’t saved them any grief.
However, Now it’s looking like they’ll get it up sooner than expected by current may 31st timeline. So this about to become history anyway.
well this all seems to be getting twisted round and disproportionate.the fact of the matter is quite simply the psn will be back up and ready when it will be back up and ready not before.
sony’s last update (14 th may) talks of system up date 3.61. a sign that they are 1 step closer to bringing their systems online at least partially.
this was no ordinary hackers attack,its as if the hacker knew precisely what to do and where to do it.the whole of psn’s infrastructure had to be rebuilt.
Just turned on my PS3, had to do an update. Still no sign into the network. Maybe we are getting close…
Sony dropped the ball and have yet to pick it up. A proper flow of the right info at the right times and no one is talking/complaining about PSN. I know I would just wait. But to allow speculation to run rampant is just bad business. Maybe the problem for Sony is setting a legitimate date too far in the future and people stop talking and forget about Sony and move on, which is worse than enduring a bunch of bad PR. Sony would rather agitate their customers by forcing them to continue seeking out an answer rather than be honest with them. That’s rubbish

Actually no. Sometimes when everything is all good and well stuff happens. Everybody bashing sony needs to cut them a break. When they gave us the week timeline, they updated us BEFORE the time was up that it was gonna be a while. Would you rather them leave you in the dark. Sony is doing the best they can. I wish everybody bashing Sony needs to stop being selfish and look at the picture. Yes i am upset that PSN is down. Blame the hackers, not Sony.
Many people simply lack perspective in life. Unfortunately life is also too short for many to ever aquire it as well. Too busy playing video games I guess……..
If the repair shop told me they would have my car finished in a month and 6 months later they are still telling me a few more days I don’t think I would be a happy camper. If right from the start they told me it would take 6 months I would not have a problem with it. And if 4 months later they called and said they had it done early I would be a very happy camper.
Why are we bashing sony for the delay. If a drunk driver crashed into your car and you had to send it in for repair, would you want the repair shop to get your car back with a half working engine and a two tone car cause they didnt paint the body panels; or would you want a car that looks and runs better than it did before the crash? THINK PEOPLE THINK. Also psn is FREE, by time you pay for xbox live and not having blu ray the ps3 console all of a sudden becomes cheaper. Wow anyone have a wow moment here now that i put everything together for yall.

Hey Demopan if you are talking about my post I am not ranting about how long its taking. I am just saying they need to quit saying false hope dates, and be honest. I want them to take the time to do it right but they need to quit saying a few more days when they know that is not going to happen.

I don’t know why people are ranting about how long the repairs are taking, I think Sony is taking their time in rebuilding the whole network. Well, rushing the whole work would make the network vulnerable yet again.
At least this is also a good reminder to get a life for once. And trading Stout Shakos for 2 refined in Trade Hatress 2. ;)
I’m getting tired of using my PS3 as a fat oversized PS2. I bought it because it said you could play online with your friends which I can’t now. And everyone that thinks PSN is free the truth is you payed for that service when you bought your PS3 it was built in the price of it. Thats why the PS3 cost more than other consoles. And after 3 to 4 years it will get the YLOD and you will buy another PS3 and the cash flow cycle continues for Sony.

Grow some balls Sony and just tell us the truth you guys knew you could not get it fixed in a few days, This is now been over three weeks and all you guys keep saying is a few more days or within a week which have all been lies. If it is going to be the end of the month just tell us that we are big boys we can handle that. Just don’t leave up hanging and hoping it will be back up this weekend. If we knew for sure that it won’t be back up this weekend we could make other plans to do something else. Grow up Sony and communicate honestly with your customers that made you who you are today.

I don’t mind Japanese cars, but I do wish the game would divide the country manufacturers a little more closely.
In the UCD I have come across many days with no US cars showing. I don’t think a day has gone by with no Japanese cars showing.
I currently own a Japanese car. I’ve owned 2 Japanese cars in my life, 2 US cars, 2 Italian cars and 2 German cars. Plus 3 Japanese motorcycles.

Being without online access sucks. But I’m looking on the bright side knowing Sony is doing all they can to get this fixed as fast as they can. Those of you that think Sony is not trying there best to get it back on line ASAP I think you are wrong. It is in Sony’s best interest to get us all back online as quick as they can. I think they are going to make it a better online network for us all to enjoy for years to come. I bought the PS3 just because it was able of playing online games I didn’t buy it for single player games I have a Playstation 2 for that. Good luck Sony on getting this fixed for us all.
