3D GT5 Competition at HMV Stores Across UK

If you’re in the UK, head to your local HMV electronics store and keep an eye out for their 3D GT5 display. In co-operation with Sony, HMV is launching a nation-wide competition, giving customers in each participating store a chance to post a hot lap on their regional leader-boards between November 27th and December 6th. The top two players from each region will then be invited to HMV Oxford Circus in London, to compete in a national finals event hosted by BBC F1 presenter, Jake Humphrey. Winners receive a full 3D GT5 set up and an all-expense-paid luxury holiday trip to Madrid, Spain (see the official site for more).

The press release also mentions a free PS3, a copy of GT5, and other goodies for customers who pick up a 3DTV at “Sony Centres” – exactly like the “Bonus 3D Entertainment Pack” advertised by Sony Australia last month.

Christian Brown, Senior Category Marketing Manager, Sony UK says: “3D continues to be a major focus for Sony as we look to raise the experience of home entertainment. Combine the advanced technology found in all Sony 3D TVs, the PlayStation3 console and the hugely advanced GT5 – and you’ve got a gaming experience that’s second to none. 3D gaming fans can also get a copy GT5, a PS3, 2 pairs of 3D glasses and a 3D transmitter all worth over £500 completely free when buying any Sony 3DTV from 24 November to 5 December in Sony Centres, whilst stocks last”.

GT5 in 3D is very nice! You get a good extra sense of depth when using the in car view. I only played for about 2 hours in 3D but hope to put in more time tomorrow!

i thought 3d was crap… it was like 2 layers. The back layer was just the normal 2d that every1 see’s and the other layer was the hud slighty suspended infront of the screen… and 3d makes shadows really really really blocky(A lot worse then cars in a puff of smoke). this fake 3d is not worth the downgrade in quality when 3d is turned on

today i tried my old mans 3dtv again and want to say dont listen to my above post i was a complete idiot and got my settings wrong. having said that i think the 3d is good but not great, the loss in detail is significant such as extremely blocky ground shadows. it didnt seem to effect the car shadows/refections to much but what really drew my attention was the roll cage, i couldnt help but admire this fine piece of protective equipment and before i knew it i was in a wall… thats the problem of 3d at 1st i was so distracted by the beautiful interiors that i found myself not watching the road. but the biggest problem i had however was after 2 races(10laps) my eyes were getting sore and I started to squint pretty badly.. this doesn’t happen with 3d movies or 3d sporting events so i think it must be the game… im sitting here hours later still with a headache ( I very rarely get headache’s ) anyway 3d is worth a try but dont go buying a 3d tv for the sole purpose of gt5 unless you have money to burn
