Black Cat County Coming to Assetto Corsa Console Versions This Month

Time to start purring those engines.

Shortly after detailing what to expect from the upcoming console patch for Assetto Corsa, Kunos has revealed that fictional circuit ‘Black Cat County’ will arrive on console in the same update due to land this month. Assetto’s track list is currently composed of real-life circuits from both the present day and the past, so the County will be our first taste of what imaginary tracks Kunos is capable of creating.

Black Cat County offers an experience not yet possible in Assetto on console — the feeling of driving on the open road. AC offers a few tourers and road cars that have been confined to real-life racing circuits until this point, so the prospect of driving on the Death Valley-inspired track will definitely open up variety on the presently small list of tracks included in the game. The circuit will have three variations; short, intermediate and long.

You’re kitten yourself if you think this doesn’t look fun!

All these variations appear to primarily offer high-speed driving as you would expect given the Highway motif of the fictional location. What Kunos appear to have done differently to similar type circuits in other racing games, is a variation in road condition and surfaces. Throughout the track, drivers will navigate craggy roads in among newly paved tarmac.

Whilst this doesn’t sound too substantial, it should definitely make the drive more interesting from a force feedback perspective. With Assetto’s sublime Factory settings for TC and ABS, it is possible the road cars would feel a bit too tame if it was smooth for the entire track.

There’s still no confirmed date for when the patch is due to land for PS4 and Xbox One however we don’t imagine it should be too long given we’re half-way into September at the writing of this article. We look forward to cruising in the county later this month.

Great news. I hope they also get some of the DLC on console too though. The DLC that’s literally on the bluray disc, and the DLC that’s been finished and on PC for months now but especially that preorder DLC that’s been on the disc since day 1 but somehow not yet available for us to buy despite them saying they will let us buy them.

There are many videos showing BCC in all its glory. For those who do not know, BCC has three distinct layouts on the PC, so I would hope that all three layouts have been ported to console.

Why did I choose to write about AC for GTPlanet!? Why! Too many articles!

I just seen that news, joking aside that’s perfect!

I was not looking forward to an SUV coming to Assetto Corsa. The Maserati Levante totally changed my mind. Especially as a PC user who has access to a ton of dirt, offroad & rally style tracks. We will be getting a Porsche Cayenne of some variety, so hopefully we’ll be able to enjoy head to head battles with the two SUVs on both console & PC.

We got the information from Kunos’ Facebook post but thanks for sharing the news as well! We know a few people have posted about it on the forums :)
