ABC will probably have some of the ESPN races. Not sure which ones though.

Its usually some of the Nationwide races. I think Indy will be one of them.

They just needed a tow truck to pull out the tow truck that got stuck in the grass after they needed that tow truck to get the race car that was stuck in the grass.

Everybody should know by now if that certain driver is entered in a lower-league race, that unnamed driver will dominate and win the lower-tier races, but crumble against real competition. :sly: Which is why in 2015 there better be a rule stating that Cup drivers can only run a maximum of 10 races a year in the Nationwide and Trucks combined. 💡

That's not going to happen. Even if the idea that Cup drivers brings more fans to watch Nationwide is false, they do bring in sponsors who would probably stay in the sidelines rather than support an up and comer who isn't a big name.

There is some benefit to the Nationwide regulars testing their mettle against Cup drivers but it doesn't help that the Cup drivers often have superior equipment. Makes me wonder how many of them would really want to race Nationwide if they had to settle with something that wasn't top of the line.

I get the feeling that wouldn't change at all. Perfect Example: Jr Motorsports. Ever since 2008, Its really just Hendrick Motorsports Nationwide program with a different name. There still would be cup teams in Nationwide, they would just get a name change while they continually supply top of the line equipment. So basically, it wouldn't change. JGR for instance would just be KBM with three cars instead of one and Penske would just be relabeled BKR.

How is it HMS nationwide exactly? I mean I know it's co-owned by HMS and there was a merger between the two in 2008 when he joined. But his team was quite good before it and only got better due to the partnership. Either way as long a Cup influences the feeder divisions you can't really stop what's going on. And no one should.

I say this because ever since said merger, Hendrick drivers (either development drivers, drivers for the cup team or drivers from teams affiliated with hendrick) have been mostly driving those cars. It started with Mark Martin when he was at Hendrick, then you had Stewart and Newman in 2009 (the same year Stewart Haas Racing was formed), Johnson a few times and most recently, Kasey Kahne and Kevin Harvick. Then there's the fact that Hendrick's development drivers have driven there starting with Landon Cassill and most recently, Chase Elliot. It just to me seems like all its become really is the defacto Hendrick Motorsports team in the Nationwide Series (with Turner barely being the B team).

Yeah but with many teams in Cup using HMS cars basically to the point HMS is basically a Chevy Nascar manufacturing plant, are you really surprised? My point is I think Junior would still bring in top up comers with or without HMS backing due to him having the money to make it happen and his own name. As for the system, what's wrong with it being an HMS feeder team? That's how most feeder systems work any ways, look no further than F1 with every damn team buying a majority or some large portion of GP2 teams for example. Teams that were quite strong before an F1 team had interest in them.

People seem to want Nationwide to be somehow independent from the Sprint Cup and a Development Series for it

Exactly my point, I'm fine with Sprint Cup drivers in the Nationwide Series as long as they don't completely **** on the younger drivers

Nah I know you were making a point and was currently editing to make sure you know...but not now

Anyways, I agree with you Sprint cup drivers probably make better drivers out of the upcoming crop then just them racing the Elliot Sadlers of the world...but if that's the gate keeper into Nascar

I'm not saying there is anything wrong (not sure what I said that makes it sound like that), I was just pointing all the connections JR Motorsports has, which all have been Hendrick ever since the merger. The team has gone from a team just using engines from a cup team (RCR before then by way of DEI) to being one of the main teams. Because its merger, its much more Hendrick Motorsports then just a Nationwide team with Hendrick engines. The whole point is that even if JGR or Penske or Hendrick isn't on the Nationwide team list doesn't guarantee that Top tier Cup quality equipment suddenly stops and Jr Motorsports is the most obvious proof of that. If anything, I'm basically agreeing with you: You aren't gonna stop cup drivers in the Nationwide series.

Well then I apologize because it didn't seem like that. Especially when on a bi weekly basis I see something about how one of these guys that regular this thread hate seeing Cup drivers race NW. And somehow you can get rid of that influence by getting rid of the drivers, but as pointed out the equipment or level of it will always be there as long as the Cup teams have a stake in the future of their success in the top tier class.

Anyways sorry again.

So anyways, who exactly is Brett Moffitt?

An MWR test driver from the news articles I saw about him earlier, he's also a K&N driver and had a good run at a Nationwide race a couple years back finishing top ten. Only race he had that year in Nationwide it seems. Looks like an up and coming racer that probably has more to him then we know if MWR feels he's good enough to run in one of their supplied teams.
