I'm still mad that they got rid of Speed. I still turn to that channel, expecing Pass Time or Lucas Oil On The Edge to be on, but instead I get soccer or wresting or some other stupid sport.

I mean if they showed a third NFL game on that channel it might be worthwhile, but so far it's been worthless for me.

If FS1 ever gets an NFL game I'd be amazed.
I'd of been fine with the network if they had still stuck with NASCAR as its bread and butter (Jay and Dan on FSL are probably the funniest people on TV right now outside of Fallon), because at least it would of had more than RU Faster then a Redneck or the Car Show on it, but they didn't.
Go look for MAVtv though. Dave Despain's is getting his own show on there and they have started filling the void, starting a couple weeks ago when they aired the Chili Bowl live unlike Speed.

I'd love to add MavTV to my channel list if I didn't have to pay extra for it. They have WRC ( I think), Live coverage of the LORRC and Pinks.

I'm actually thinking about pre-ordering NASCAR '14 just for the diecast car. But I don't think I will with what's going on three days before the game comes out for me. :indiff:

Speaking of ads, they wont get away with flooding them on us forever.

Youtube, streaming, on demand etc are seriously reducing the attention spans of the modern audience, myself included. We have so much at our fingertips. Now NASCAR continues to increase the amount of ads, upsetting people even more. The American audience can stomach it somewhat with football etc because you dont actually miss anything. Of course thats not the case in NASCAR.

They need to investigate TNT's 'full throttle' coverage or even what Indycar is doing. Just have a title sponsor somewhere on the screen and eliminate commercials outside of cautions.

If the new points system is modernizing the sport, then they need to modernize the coverage too. Last year's Daytona 500 was so bad, it was 5 laps, commercial, 5 laps, commercial, 5 laps commercial and so on. People wont deal with that forever.
TRUE!!!

i really like this thread!!! ive read plenty of others and they talk about everything except the nascar. and when they disagree it gets nasty and just plain asinine!!! thanx to all of you for helping my workday go quicker today!!! i will be posting .....and i dig the new chase rules....so far. GO BUSCH BROTHERS!!!!!

His last post was
WHERE ARE THE PICTURES OF THE GEN 6 STOCK CARS?????????????????????

How ironic it wasn't in the NASCAR 2013 thread.

EDIT: Turns out that in this new GTP, it auto blocks quoted people on your ignore list, would have been helpful last year.

Battle at the Beach will be on FS2.
Well, it's better then not being on TV at all.

Well that's rather crappy, but I agree. At least we'll still be able to see it.

Barely, the availability of FS2 is pathetic. Then they say, but you can watch the streaming service, only one problem with that it is only available as an alternative viewing method if it is on your cable system! So if your provider doesn't carry it, you are screwed. What pisses me off is that what Fox broadcasting is doing is using us race fans as leverage to get their channel on carriers. The problem with this tactic is that us race fans are not a big enough group for the major cable companies to give a **** about. It's not like Fox doesn't have 20 other channels showing wrestling and reruns that they could put racing on or anything. Why any series would sign a deal with this 🤬 company is beyond me :banghead:

Slight correction there, they show UFC, not wrestling.
Here's the thing, NASCAR basically built ESPN back in the 80's. First big sport to sign on with them (Well, the tracks did because the tracks handled their own tv rights back then but I digress). Now FOX and to a slightly lesser extent NBC want to use NASCAR to build up their own sports channels. I say to a lesser extent for NBC because unlike the other two, NBC has been the only one to have cared about any sorts of motorsport, in ESPN's case since around the time RPM2Night was cancelled.
Honestly, I like what NBC is doing. They are distancing themselves away from ESPN unlike FOX (Because nobody will ever beat ESPN in the ratings) by focusing around golf, hockey, and racing, unlike the other two. I think it's a better long term plan to be an alternate rather then try to be a 4th ESPN channel.

Monday morning LOL's:

Richard Petty: Danica Patrick will only win ‘if everybody else stayed home’

http://www.sbnation.com/nascar/2014...hard-petty-danica-patrick-win-sprint-cup-race

This part is right on:

"If she'd have been a male, nobody would ever know if she'd showed up at a race track," Petty said according to Wheels.ca. "This is a female deal that's driving her. There's nothing wrong with that, because that's good PR for me. More fans come out, people are more interested in it. She has helped to draw attention to the sport, which helps everybody in the sport."

I think he will have room to talk when we start giving people rides who can drive as opposed to their last name being Petty or Earnhardt, just a thought :sly:

Earnhardt Jr., while no where near the level of his dad, has at least proved to be capable of top 5's/10's and the occasional win.

Kyle was basically fired when Petty and Evernham merged, I think Richard understands that now.

Yes, and finally he and other south of the Mason-Dixon line drivers now have a shot at the championship thanks to the anti-Jimmie rule. Even if Jimmie were to win 33 races and accumulate a 1000 point lead, he would have little better than 25% chance for his 7th crown.

But I approve. Business should always come first.

Essentially make the championship a (series of) restrictor plate race(s).

But that would bring Danica back into the picture. She's learned to suck up to a guy's bumper, and pass him, but otherwise she can't handle the wheel, they say. Nascar Nation desperately wants and needs a southerner to restore its pride and attendance. Danica is still leaded to maintain and enlarge the female fan base. They will still show up and cheer even if she's only fighting for 20th.
