But that would bring Danica back into the picture. She's learned to suck up to a guy's bumper, and pass him, but otherwise she can't handle the wheel, they say. Nascar Nation desperately wants and needs a southerner to restore its pride and attendance. Danica is still leaded to maintain and enlarge the female fan base. They will still show up and cheer even if she's only fighting for 20th.
Why didn't David Ragan become this huge star like Humpy Wheeler said he would?

Got a new avatar, time for NASCAR season to start
I had my Dale Earnhardt one as a silent protest to Austin Dillon using the 3 in Cup, then I changed it to a beautiful McLaren. Now I'm working on one related to NASCAR.

EDIT: Changed once again.

NASCAR 2005 Chase for the Cup, the 3rd best NASCAR game ever made for consoles (1st being Thunder 2004 and 2nd being 06: Total Team Control)
Haven't played those games in years, I forgot that everybody had a model in 2005.
Also, that list is missing Dirt to Daytona

Dirt to Daytona is 4th, just behind 06 (It's really close IMO, but 06's ability to own teams like Hendrick just edge out the depth of D2D)

Only if they had a picture did they get a model, and that was mostly Cup guys. I think.

My list goes Dirt to Daytona, Thunder 2004, Thunder 2003, then everything else. Not even owning Hendrick or the modifieds could overcome the disappointment I feel for anything beyond 2004. Never played NASCAR Heat though.

It amazes me how the series just fell of a really, reeeeeeally tall cliff.

Though thinking about it, I feel the same about the Black Box NFS Games after Underground 2.

Due in very large part of EA's stress to racing off the streets, I think at least. Last good NFS game I've played was Shift 2.

I liked ProStreet, but hated every following release with more and more hellfire, culminating in a rant I had on The Run(s) that ended up longer than the actual campaign did.

Never had a chance to play the Papyrus/Sierra stuff. I couldn't access a computer regularly until I got my own in 2007, and I havn't dared to try them or any other games on the flimsy pieces I have used.

Same here. The Run was an abomination of a Need for Speed game compared to what they had last generation. :yuck:

Ah yes..."Hi, I'm Ned Jarrett, and from Papyrus, this is NASCAR Racing." I remember first playing those Papyrus games. I think my favorite was NASCAR Racing 4. It got a little more difficult after that with NASCAR Racing 2003 Season, probably because I never had a wheel. I did play one or two fairly crappy console NASCAR games around that time. They couldn't hold a candle to the Papyrus ones. Then damn EA Sports comes in with their license, and there goes the only competition they had. Same thing would happen with EA and Madden. I remember loving ESPN NFL 2K5, then they were finished. Thanks a ton, EA...👎

The sad thing is EA is still here, tainting everything they touch. I'm just waiting for them to mess up Popcap games now that they also own them.

Back on subject, I get the sick feeling that the new NASCAR game isn't going to be worth the money. Granted it was never gonna come close to anything papyrus made (like anything ever will), but I looked into the forums at the previews, read the info and I just don't have any kind of excitement for it like I did when Eutechnyx first got the license. I'm almost feel that there never will be a good console NASCAR game ever again and essentially we're stuck using our active imaginations.

From the absolute lack of info my main info sites have about its existence at all, I have $1 says its an almost complete rehash of last years game.

If Codemasters were to get the license, all hell would break loose. Otherwise, outside of a miracle and the old NASCAR Racing guys were to all join up and make another game (Not happening), NASCAR games are going to be sucking for a long time.
Edit: Also, a Turn 10 game would be interesting because I'm pretty sure they have some NASCAR fans on staff, but it would be on Xbone so I wouldn't play it :(

If the Codies wanted to give it a shot, I guarantee that it wouldn't be bland. It might hit both sides of the epic scale at the same time, but we would think twice about it.

What about Bugbear, or the BeamNG guys?

NASCAR 98 on PlayStation 1 with Paintball mode enabled, at Bristol. Good times.

Even without Paintball mode, Bristol was the only track I had fun with. Perhaps that's because I was still a tyke when I really played last. That one was good too.

NASCAR 3/4 were amazing. NR2003 I never had the right system for and when I did, the game was no longer being sold. Heat was the last great NASCAR game. EA had good concepts that apparently were just tossed off a cliff as useless when the next year came around.

I still play NASCAR 99 on N64. Those were some good time when I first got it. It was my first NASCAR game. I had every one since.

Edit: I just woke up, so excuse any poor English.

I wish my copy of Nascar 09 for PS2 hadn't got messed up. I had finally landed a top ride in Nationwide and perfected my setups for almost all tracks.

Although winning a championship in that game was almost impossible without winning at least 90% of the races.

Doesn't Forza 5 have a Dale Jr. Mountain Dew ZL1 as a DLC? I've seen it before but didn't think it was DLC.

Also from jayski, this worries me...

"Some of the more important explanations included the claim that the new Chase points system was more than three years in the making. Bonus points after Richmond count only in the first round of the Chase. Thereafter, pre-Chase bonus points will not be counted after each of the final resets. Awarding more points to winners was considered and discarded because it might create a runaway situation. In other words, NASCAR didn't want the Sprint Cup title to be clinched at any point before the series finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway."

From Jayski, this will be interesting:
The day after the next Daytona 500 Champion is crowned, NBCSN introduces NASCAR AMERICA, a new 30-minute daily show dedicated to the nation's longstanding fascination with speed and stock car racing. Making its debut on NBCSN at 5:00pm/et on Monday, February 24, and returning each weekday at the same time and place, NASCAR AMERICA will cover the sport from all angles, delivering news, highlights and access to NASCAR's dynamic stars and personalities. Originating from NBC Sports Group's International Broadcast Center in Stamford, Conn., as well as a new NBC Sports' studio located in Charlotte, N.C., NASCAR AMERICA's primary host is Rick Allen. Allen, who will usher in NBC Sports' live coverage of NASCAR Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series racing as lead announcer in July 2015, will interact daily with NBC Sports motorsports reporters Marty Snider and Kelly Stavast. Snider and Stavast, both based in Charlotte, N.C., will operate on location throughout the country to deliver the latest news and features on NASCAR's drivers and race teams. NBC Sports Group's IndyCar and Formula One play-by-play voice Leigh Diffey will also serve as host of NASCAR AMERICA.
Alongside Allen in the studio will be a constant rotation of guest analysts offering fresh perspectives and insights. Guest analysts who will join NASCAR AMERICA throughout February and March include NBC Sports NASCAR analyst Jeff Burton, Sprint Cup Champion Bobby Labonte, Kyle Petty, Ken Schrader, and crew chief Frank Stoddard.
