I'd have to agree with Almirola 15th and AJ 16th. Petty Motorsports has been more consistent on the ovals than AJ has been. Deciding where the other 14 will finish will be tough though. All it takes is 1 or 2 outstanding performances or seriously terrible luck at the right time to make or break the chase for any driver.

Well that's another knock against RF and confirms that I was somewhat right about Biffle not being all that great if a major sponsor of theirs is pulling out and testing the waters with another group.
 
Biffle isn't very marketable (the only thing he's done in the last however many years is the NASCAR Green campaign, and that's not even a sponsor..), and Jeff has had a resurgence in his career this year when at this point last year he was leaning towards retirement. Also helps that the Dupont/Axalta change led to them reducing their share of sponsorship and opened up this opportunity for 3M to come in.

I'm a bit shocked it wasn't an announcement of 3M sponsoring Dale Jr though, considering he's losing National Guard after this year.

On another note, the only saving grace for the Ford camp as a whole is Penske and Carl. If not for Carl, RF would be a complete joke this year. I'm ignoring Aric (even though he won a race this year) since RPM isn't usually better than a top-15 team.
 
Carl won't be in the Ford camp next year, so that leaves the Ford camp to Penske. Wood Brothers look like they are switching their technical alliance to Penske. Petty Motorsports would be smart to make the same move as well. The Roush-Yates motors are great, thanks to Yates continuing to be that powerhouse engine builder that they are, but the chassis and everything else not related to the motor are holding the Roush and Roush supplied cars back. It's blatantly obvious when you see what Penske has done this year in only their second year of returning to the Ford camp. Logano was looked at being an overhyped washed-up driver, but now he's showing just what he's capable of, with him and Brad being contenders for poles and wins almost every race weekend.

Meanwhile at Roush, they're fighting for top 30s most of the time....

He's had tons of sponsors plastered on his car in the past couple years and especially this year...

Also he has a title sponsor in Mountain Dew.

I was speaking more on the results end for Biffle but I already agree on the marketing aspect with you.

As for Junior he has plenty of group on his side, whether or not they'll step up has yet to be seen. I mean he has Nationwide, Tax Slayer, Wrangler

Forgot about that one. That's two sponsors that jumped from Roush to Hendrick, although Nationwide was sponsoring Stenhouse Jr who isn't all that to begin with.

Biffle was the first driver capable of winning all 3 major championships in NASCAR, but turned out to not have the talent or equipment to pull it off in Cup. Edwards should have been a champion as well. 2011 was a lock for him and Roush dropped the ball on that one.
 
Wrangler would be a likely one to return to Cup as a sponsor for Jr since they've sponsored both Jr. and Sr. for years. RFR would probably be better running Penske equipment next year until they can get their own program up to snuff again.

They wouldn't do that, there is too much value in the Roush name for him to just have someone else do it for him and then try to sell it as his own. His image and connections would probably fall apart too if he just became nothing more than a glorified second hand team with a technical investment, especially when he originally had the investments.

Also Roush shouldn't do that anyways, you know Childress had the same issue and to a degree still does just not as bad as Jack I would say. I mean for years he was the guy to go to for smaller Chevy teams while HMS was on the up rise and now it's basically everyone wanting to use HMS equipment rather than RCR.
 
Things just keep falling apart for Roush. Not surprised with Nationwide Joining Jr considering he's been doing quite a lot of ad work with Nationwide so it only seemed natural. 3M on the other hand, huge surprise but it took them long enough to realize they weren't going anywhere fast staying with a mediocore team and an even more mediocore driver.

Wouldn't be surprised if Fastenal would be the next to up and leave.
 
I think the cracks were exposed more so when UPS said they were done with them last year. It probably didn't help that the driver that Roush also lost nearly won the championship first year with JGR who run FedEx.

The difference now is that Childress drivers consist of either Dillon brothers, Newman, and drivers with sponsor connections (Menard, for example), which means they don't have to worry as much about say Menards leaving them.

I don't really see how that has anything to do with my comment. Even though his team isn't as good as it once was which I'd chalk up to equipment more than anything, I still say his group has done a pretty good job with what they have. I mean there is a reason Newman is as high as he is in points, and even looking at Menard he's drove the car up in to the top five a few times if I remember and has more top tens than Biffle.

So even for a pay driver he's doing a decent job. The guy tends to either finish in the top ten or finish way outside the top 20. As to where Biffle sits higher due to consistently finishing in the top twenty.

We all know one thing for sure- RFR has to up their game, and FAST, since the only guy that is doing well with their equipment this year won't be back. I was at the Michigan truck race last year, but I won't be going back this year since we went to the NHRA qualifying this year when they were in Ohio. And I probably won't be going back to the cup race again for a while since my dad is still bitter about the 2007 rainfest.
 
Roush has dropped the ball the last few years. Kenseth, Edwards, and Biffle were all great talents. I think they all made it into the Chase every year(or almost every year) but couldn't win a championship.

I don't like Stewart-Haas racing this year. Kurt really hasn't been that strong this year, Kevin Harvick was much better with RCR in his 29 car. I really don't know what to say about Stewart, and Danica is a waste of space.

Really this season has seemed like Penske vs Hendrick Motorsport.
 
So according to what I just read, NASCAR will be testing two different potential 2015 rules packages at MIS this week. The first will involve a larger spoiler and reduced horsepower, while the other will involve 30% less downforce than current cars and softer compound tires.
 
I think you are misinterpreting their verbiage. Only those in the Chase field can finish 5th through 16th. 17th place is still the highest non-Chase points position.

A. Drivers who don’t advance to the next round will have their point totals reset to the Chase-start base of 2,000 (with any regular-season wins bonus points), plus the additional points they’ve earned during the Chase.

From what I've heard, Fennig keeps most of the 99's information and data from the rest of the team, so that's why the 99 has ran so different from the 16 and 17.
 
Wow, that's....interesting. I'm guessing there's abit of a rift somewhere there because usually, that's frowned upon for the whole team. Wouldn't surprise me if Fennig himself also leaves.

This arrangement has likely been in the works for awhile, before the National Guard announced they'd be cutting Jr.
 
Wondering now what Fastenal will do. They've only ever sponsored Edwards so with him looking more & more out of the picture at Roush, will they leave with him? Seems like Advocare is the only primary sponsor secure for 2015.
