Also, I'd say the team giving a press release about it is what makes it official, not who's being followed on social media.

During an event, if a race car is involved in an incident and is stopped on the track, unless the car is on fire or other issues (smoke in the cockpit), the driver should remain in the car and only exit the car when told to. No NASCAR driver or personnel are allowed to leave their car and approach a moving vehicle.

So NASCAR needs to voice common sense.

To enforce common sense? The sad thing is that they HAVE to enforce common sense. Apparently drivers aren't smart enough to figure out that you shouldn't walk in front or near a fast moving vehicle.

The addition to the rule is that drivers and crew members are not allowed to approach the racing surface. the other rules had been there previously and this means they're going to heavily enforce them now.
