Fun fact: 10 is currently 41st in Owners Points.
A bad day on Sunday than a bad qualifying session come Bristol may leave Danica on the outside looking in.

Upon reading this, I now feel the urge to copy your avatar in triumph.

Actually Gene Haas has mentioned the possibility of an IndyCar team (He wants to double Haas sales eventually, and he feels team owning is the way to it), so it's unlikely but possible.
Gene Haas is currently in talks with FIA about getting a spot in F1

If he doesn't, he's probably got Indycar as a back up plan.
I had not heard that he was interested in Indy, but it would seem to make sense, especially for an American company. Unless, of course, he has a lot of international business or thinks he can get a piece of that pie. The only problem with Indycar as an advertising platform is that it's ratings have been in the tank for over a decade, but if the quality of the racing continues as the past couple of years that could change.

Penske shells being taken for crushing

On the other hand, what are they going to do with just the shells... The NW chassis that go underneath them are probably still in use, and the COTs are pretty much useless nowadays.

I paid $20 for a piece of the body of Kyle Busch's car from Sonoma in 2012. I can see super fans spending thousands to buy the full shells.

I doubt there's that much demand for that kind of stuff, though. :p If anything, they're probably scrapping the rougher ones.

If given the option to buy a hood from a Jeff Gordon car from 2001-2007, I would with little hesitation.

Here is a website that specializes in sheet metal from the old cars(including Penske cars).

I'm sure there is a decent demand, but I can't imagine there being enough to salvage every shell a team uses considering they probably go through quite a few over the course of a season.

Don't rejoice just yet fellow Crashica haters; Stewart would just write a check to one of the backmarker teams and literally buy her a spot in the field. 👎 :yuck: :grumpy:

Thank you first for the link for sheetmetal, thank you second for the link for diecast. :)

I thought Brad was only running the white scheme for the 500?

Not that I'm complaining as it's the only scheme I've really liked this year.

NASCAR should only allow grill tape for the last 12 car session. It would ensure the fastest lap was the 'pole' lap and it would get rid of the dangerous apron parade from the other sessions

Penske is just dominant so far with this new qualifying system

I think they run fewer laps then anyone which saves their tires

I believe that this is going to be Jr's year for wins and possibly a title, and Penske's year for strong qualifying runs. I don't want to see a Busch boy take any wins this weekend, but I know Kyle will take at least one.

So I forgot to tell you guys that last week my SAE group on campus got to meet the project manager for Chevy's Race Performance Division, she overlooks NASCAR and is at every race. Obviously we got to meet her because she is an SAE member and it's a University as well as the key important part...NASCAR was in town.

Anyways she has some interesting insight to those who are of the engineering path, and also told us that Chevy is working on some new developments for 2015 race package. She couldn't tell us more than that since it is suppose to be "secret". However, I thought you lot would find it interesting that I got to talk to one of the big wigs for Chevy in NASCAR.

Yes but if that doesn't work out he said his next step is Indy, which is obviously easier. He has two drivers in his NASCAR team (3 if you count Kurt running Indy 500 this year) that can drive those cars. It's easier to get into and so on, I'd love to see him in F1 but they're having trouble sorting it out at the moments. And he wants to be in open wheel either way, thus he said he will do Indy if he doesn't get in.

Not sure if I should be shocked or excited.

Very interesting to hear.
