It was probably cheaper to just install the barriers instead of modifying the track/walls to not lose the 3-5 feet of space they took up.
And that's fine with me, the only thing more important than race quality to me is safety. Only thing that matters is that they are there.

Very true.

Out of the current tracks used for the national series, I think Iowa Raceway is the only one that was designed for the SAFER barriers, but it's also the only oval that was built after SAFER barriers came into widespread usage.

 Danica going with Timber is the best

The real question is, did Kahne use this Bottoms Up

or this Bottoms Up?

Both are probably NSFW (I know the second one is)

I don't think I've ever seen that many empty seats at Bristol before.

Also, Jimmie has a tire down and the rain is back.

Ambrose not going with Land Down Under is, to be honest, slightly dissapointing. :D

I'll admit that for all the beefs I have with NASCAR in general, rain delays tend to be entertaining, sometimes even more than the race itself.

And Carl Edwards just dissed the broadcast.

I don't think they've announced. They've just been focusing on toilet paper and interviewing drivers.

Edit: They've been called back to the cars, so it should be 10-15 minutes now.

Edit2: Rain again.

Reason #528 Why Tony's my favorite:
"Because everyone knows, if Matts hair gets wet he'll have a nuclear meltdown and won't be able to interview anyone else the rest of the day..." *pulls umbrella over Matt Yocum*

Just checked twitter updates.

Drivers are being called back to the cars, FS1 should have coverage soon.

EDIT: And they be rolling again.
