With Bayne moving up Full Time, who does Roush actually have that could actually get bumped up? Buesher isn't even sponsored or even in the conversation to do anything, and the only other Roush Nationwide driver I know of, Ryan Reed (sp?), is the same story; inexperienced, and struggling. Unless The Wood Brothers want to take a year or two off, Hornish makes the most sense

Mark Martin is retired. Buescher doesn't need sponsorship for the Wood Brothers as they have their own sponsor.

That's how Bayne originally got the 21 seat.. by being Roush's driver.

1. I think maybe one of the other part timers (or at the very least Michael McDowell) will end up filling in at Wood Brothers.
2. Buescher and/or Reed make no sense since both have too little experience to set foot in a cup car. If any one of these start running well in Nationwide and getting wins/sponsors I'll welcome them with open arms into Cup

Wood Brothers Racing is an underrated team. They may not be a major threat for wins during a season but they can still pull off some good results.

Who's contracts (other than Biffle and Edwards) are ending after this year? It may be possible that they can hire a current part-timer or backmarker and go back to operating full-time with that driver behind the wheel.

Ambrose and Mears are the others, I believe.

McMurray is up this year but for whatever reason they always do one years with him- that's why a lot of people were shocked when Montoya was the one leaving last year and not McMurray.
On the Wood Brothers and Hornish front, I really doubt Reed or Buescher get it because they aren't really ready yet. Yes, Bayne wasn't either, but Bayne was having amazing runs in Nationwide with the underfunded Pastrana-Waltrip team. It might change by the end of this year but with how far behind they are from JRM, JGR, and Penske, I doubt they'll be able to this year.
Of course, we don't know what's going on. I do think that whoever gets in the 21 in Cup is going to be in that 6 car for Nationwide.

Not necessarily.

*ALTHOUGH* Who could Roush possibly pull up out of the air to pilot the now pretty much abandoned 6 team and still be reasonably competitive enough for the Wood Brothers to select? By contrast, JGR has a bunch of under-utilized, and talented drivers that could use a full-time Nationwide and funded-but-largely-part-time cup Ride. Hornish, or maybe Drew Herring, or, heck Joey Coulter or some other under-utilized JGR-KBM driver should jump in at least half the season.

All this is over Edwards and Biffle and the Wood Brothers and the gaping hole in the Roush sponsor/talent pool just confirms what I have though for a while. RFR is on the financial and competitive decline. Their only good drivers are leaving and they are losing sponsors, on top of that, Penske is now solidifying themselves as the lead Ford team and once RFR lose their only competitive drivers, soon they will be just like Front Row Motorsports. In other words, bringing up the rear.
Just my .02

It's not like Bayne is a bad driver. On the cup side currently, he gets that 21 to the top 20 in qualifying and the races, and for being with a team that's pretty much low budget, not factoring in the alliance with Roush, it's a pretty good show of what he's capable of being in a better car.

But, with both Edwards and Biffle not winning races and competing for the championship, which I think they both should have won one by now, just shows how much Roush has declined in the last few years.

I wasn't shocked when Montoya got the boot, but I was surprised McMurray stayed at EGR

Well, where else was Mcmurray going to go?

Also, its no longer EGR as they finally got rid of the Earnhardt name and are now back to Chip Ganassi Racing.

I think the implication was that the surprise was that McMurray was allowed to stay at CGR.

I was being sarcastic with that answer. I recall being surprised myself that Mcmurray wasn't the one booted (although he sure is making that decision look great on a regular basis).

Was watching a stream and before the final round the mobile app decides to tell me who's on pole.

Everything went better than expected.

Betting someone makes that paint scheme in the next day or so.

I'm shocked Whitt is still being sponsored by Speed Stick, especially considering they never paid a dime towards Swan Racing.

Whoever is calling the NW race sounds totally disinterested.
It's Dave Burns, who until 2 weeks ago had always been a pit reporter.

Then again.. ESPN is completely disinterested in NASCAR. Indycar is in Detroit so Allen Bestwick is there, but this is also ABC's last Indycar race for the season. Just like 2 weeks ago when he was in Indy for ABC coverage and Dave was calling the Nationwide race from Iowa. He'll probably be calling the races that aren't at the same track as the Cup series for the rest of the year as well.

Also, as of this weekend, FOX coverage ends, and we get TNT coverage for the next 6 races until ESPN gets the remainder of the season after that.

I thought TNT was not going to cover anymore NASCAR races after 2013.

And yeah, ESPN is pretty much not even trying anymore with NASCAR. I have a feeling we're gonna see more terrible effort when they start covering the rest of the Cup series races for the final time. 2015 should be interesting as it'll be just two networks (well, two channels and their family of networks) and we'll see who covers NASCAR better. I get the feeling if their excellent coverage with motorsports alone is any indication, they are going to completely show up Fox.
