Driving standards, 2 laps down Corvette blocks the GTD leader who then gets rammed out of the way and LMP2 leader punts a GTD car and gets a penalty.

What a weekend

(Yes HoR offered me their entire trough of leftovers 😆)

Wayne Taylor is mad at race control because his car with the sticky throttle destroyed a 296 GTD and gets a penalty for that.
I didn't see the incident itself but caught the interview with Wayne Taylor on Peacock where he was dissatisfied with the penalty. The NBC commentators didn't share his sentiment, let's just say that.

Couple of headlines leading into the Long Beach Sprint. For starters, Tommy Milner will be joining Robert Wickens in the DXDT GTD Corvette.

Not only that, but AO Racing will be running Rexy in GTD under #177. Vasseur Sullivan will be bringing a 2nd RC-F GT3 as well.

Sweeping tariffs BoP changes have also been announced for Long Beach, which see adjustments for literally every car participating in each class.

Of particular note, Cadillac and Porsche have been hit with a 17HP nerf to their Stage 1 (Under 230KPH) power limit in the GTP class, which may be a decent setback given Long Beach's lower average speed. With the GTD cars, almost every car is getting a weight decrease, with the Z06.R, 296, and RC-F getting the biggest decreases at 31, 27 and 24 Kgs respectivley. The only exceptions are the 911 GT3 R and M4 Evo, both of which will be getting small increases to their weight. The Mustange GT3 will also recieve a ~6% bump to its Stage 1 Power limit.

Unrelated to all of that, I've finally been able to take some time to sit down, sort through and edit some of my pictures from Sebring.

Love seeing the Valkyrie. Hope they can get more pace out of it
Currently it's putting down similar lap times to the MSR Acuras, and it's best lap so far wedges it between the two WTR Cadillacs.

So far, it's definitely proving that it can hang on with the GTP field. I'm eager to see where it's at in the last few races of the season.

Edit: Meanwhile, Tommy Milner in the DXDT Corvette is showing no quarter.

Edit 2: Not the smoothest move by the #85 Porsche just now...

Part of me is thinking that BMW is relying heavily on the overall speed of the cars. It's not...wrong, given their pace compared to the other GTPs, but it is questionable.

Hopefully they'll be able to do something with the pace on the restart.

If only we saw the Valkyrie more often than the dolphin fountain, lol...
The pace isn't that bad, but they will need a better driver line up to get more from this car.
In fairness, it is still a brand-new chassis, and all of the Valkyries opponents have been present since Day 1 of the LMDh formula. I think we, and AMR, need to give the car at least a year of racing to see how it stacks before seriously considering changing the drivers around. Hell, it's only this year that BMW has been able to become a regular threat at the front.

Also, Milner sacrifices some rear bodywork while gaining some position. DXDT now into 5th.

Edit: Aaand Milner has been hit with the Meatball flag for the bodywork.

Shouldn't have leant on the Bimmer...
The Meatball was the right call, but I would be significantly less salty if Turner was in a position to fight for the win.

Edit: Looks like the #6 Penske Porsche is very low on energy. Not sure if that car will have enough for the end.

Edit: Another Porsche 1-2 in GTP, with the #7 car taking the Win. Another win for Rexy as well. The #24 BMW finishes out the Top-3. Funnily enough, this is the 2nd race in a row where the Whelen Cadillac has taken 4th in GTP.

And the #60 MSR Acura...has lost its left-rear tire. :odd:

I'm wondering with it being unable to get by the Aston Martin if that was exactly why. Perhaps Colin was fighting with a wheel he felt was getting loose and the wheel only finally came off on the cool down lap.

3 straight poles and no wins will do that. Pratt & Miller running BMW GTP's and Corvette GTD's could be interesting, or would the Vette program go elsewhere?

The article also mentions Gnassi as a potential client but I figured they would have the inside line on Ford's LMDh program given their history the the GTLM car.

Interesting thing is they also could be in the running for the Genesis IMSA program. For a team that's historically been glued to GT (And GM for that matter), to be eyed up for two major Prototype programs is quite a good look.

As I understand it, P&M has a deal with Chevrolet in which they straight-up build all of the Z06 GT3.Rs that are run across the globe. If I had to guess, a deal like that is probably very lucrative for Pratt & Miller, while also lowering the financial/logistical burden for GM itself, so I don't think that'll change anytime soon. On the racing side of things, it ideally shouldn't be a conflict of interest since A) its a different class, and B), in its current state, Corvette Racing is no longer a GM factory team, and as such doesn't get any more support from GM than any of the other teams using the Corvette GT3 car.

From what I gather, it's a pretty open secret that Pratt & Miller have been hunting for a factory GTP/Hypercar program for a little while now. As @RACECAR mentioned, they've apparently been in talks with Genesis on running their GTP program in the States. While that would be awesome, I think it'd be pretty fun if P&M got their hands on a BMW GTP, espescially since the car is clearly very competitive now.
