Major lifting off the throttle by Matt Campbell there. Seems he's really trying to get the most out of the #6s fuel tank.

Also the SC63 is missing a headlight.

I missed a bit of the race because life has to happen, is the Valkyrie up there for real or are they on a different strategy to everyone else?

The Valkyrie was the fastest car in night practice. I'm pretty certain it's there on pace.

The Valkyrie has been genuinely quick today, running 4th for most of the race today. It got past the #24 BMW a bit ago, and has been getting faster in the dark.

If the Valkyrie can stay out of late-race drama, a podium is very much on the cards.

Edit: Holy crap, the Valk is now ~5 seconds away from the lead. I have to assume that both the Whelen Cadillac and the #6 Porsche are doing some serious lifting-and-coasting.

I never imagined that the Valkyrie would be so competitive; the crew didn't seem up to the others to start with.

What does the #6 crew would be able to to with that car ? I wonder...

The advantage of not having to deal with a hybrid system and all of its issues.

I think the 31 and 6 are one stop from the end and the 23 AM will need 2 stops.
That's what I'm starting to think. The #24 BMW has only 3% more energy, so even with 2 stops, the Valkyrie may still earn a podium.

Either that, or Team THOR are banking on a FCY happening after their next pit stop.

The last hour is looking to be quite spicy. As far as the championships go, it's currently a title to lose for all of the Class points leaders, save for the Winward Mercedes.

But, those championship battles may very well be over-shadowed by the Valkyrie and it's current performance.

Edit: The Valkyrie just made its last stop, fuel only. They're going for it.

It's kind of ironic the Lambo is actually working well in its last race.
There's unironically a chance that the SC63 might get the win, or at least 2nd.

It pretty much hinges on either late-race shenanigans, or if the Top-2 cannot stretch their fuel out.

Calado is really closing in on Pier Guidi. Lead was 4+ seconds a few laps ago and now it's almost down to a second.

Both the 31 and 6 are in the pits!
Yes Yes Yes GIF

Never thought I'd be rooting against a Cadillac, but here we are. :D

Traffic might play in the Caddy's hands here.

4% fuel left for the Lambo? Surely they can't go to the end. And there it is.

The #31 Whelen Cadillac wins the race, the #6 Porsche wins the GTP title, and the #23 Valkyrie takes home its maiden podium!

AO Racing wins the LMP2 Championship, and the #3 Corvette fends off Dragonspeed to win the GTD Pro Championship!

I also just realized something moderately disappointing.

In all of the excitement, I missed that the #25 BMW GTP finished in 9th, with the #7 Porsche finishing 10th. With that result, the #24 still loses 2nd to the #7 Porsche in the GTP Championship. :(

I really appreciate the free coverage on youtube, IMSA is becoming one of my favorite series for this reason alone.
I don't know where you are in Ontario, but I highly recommend making the trip to Mosport for the race. The accessibilty alone will sell you.

That was an entertaining race with a lot of action (and penalties :D)

At the end I got sad because there won't be worksteam porsches next season in the wec :/

Watched the Pilot Challenge today at Road Atlanta, fantastic! They used the left side pit lane which was interesting. I wish GT modeled that side as well, would be cool if you had the option in custom races to choose which pit lane you wanted to use.

All of the support races use the original pit lane. I think IMSA is the only thing that uses the right side pits. I drove the track back in April for a manufacturer's track day and we used the original pit lane also.

I’m really loving the Michelin Pilot Challenge series. I’ve gone back and started watching the season from the beginning. Watching Laguna Seca now 👍🏻
